Yoon Eun-hye officially says goodbye to Love Song

“It’s painful for us all.”
That’s what Yoon Eun-hye has to say about the fizzling of her drama project Love Song, which she has officially walked from. It’s not particularly surprising news, given that lead actor Park Yong-ha (Story of a Man, On Air) died shortly after accepting the role last year, leaving the production scrambling to find a replacement.
But it’s too bad nonetheless, as the drama had garnered strong initial interest. Aside from its top star lineup, it had the name recognition from being an adaptation of the famous Hong Kong film Comrades: Almost a Love Story (aka Tian Mi Mi), which starred Leon Lai and Maggie Cheung. There was even interest from Warner Bros. regarding buying the k-drama’s broadcast rights, as well as lots of pan-Asian attention toward the project.
After months of trying to secure a new actor and plans for continuing the project, however, production house Verdi Media has made the decision to pull the plug, and has erased all Love Song-related information from its official website. A source with the company confirmed the news, and stated the Verdi is preparing a new drama instead.
To her credit, Yoon Eun-hye stuck with the project for the past nine months (she’s rather known for her loyalty to her projects), but finally called it quits. She said, “Everyone feels pained over it. As an actor, though, I felt I couldn’t wait forever.”
Yoon also hinted that she’ll be choosing her next drama project soon, stating that she’s been looking at many synopses and is preparing for her television comeback. “I think I’ll be able to greet you all [in a drama] in May or June.”
We can hope. Frankly, I’m okay with Love Song being cancelled, since there would always have been that pall hanging over it after Park Yong-ha’s death. And while I normally don’t have a problem watching projects with deceased actors (I like to separate the drama from reality, as a rule, and can watch something like Last Scandal without fixating on the sad life of Choi Jin-shil), this is a project that would have been inextricably tied to that horrible news from the very beginning and throughout its every turn, and I still feel way too sad about Park’s passing to be eager to watch it.

I like YEH more when she has more meat in her. She's so thin now. She's way much cuter when her face is a bit plump due to baby fat, like in Coffee Prince and Goong.
I heard her mentioned that she lost her baby fats that's why her face is thinner. I wish i can lose mine too, hahahah =)

the camera loves her..just one of her strengths, sometimes people look just lovely on film live action then cannot seem to take a good still shot for the camera to save their lives..:-)

Seriously, I lost ALL interest in it after his death and I don't think doing it with someone else would help.
It's good that she and they've moved on.

I feel the same way. I love YEH but I lost interest as well when he died...I still can't believe it to this day and just like when Lee Eon died I was soo sad... T.T My heart feels so heavy chested...why?! Well, I will be looking forward to her new drama as well.

same here. whenever i see a picture of a smiling PYH [before his passing], i always sense this hint of sadness in the eyes, eventhough he had smiling eyes. but there was always this layer of sadness that i see it - it added to a mysterious look, imo. that was just an impression then. now, whenever i see a picture i always interpret it as an individual who would smile despite heavy sadness.

I never really got to know much about Park Yong-ha, and in a way I sort of am too sad to even go back and watch a show with him in it. A few weeks before the news of his death, I had started Story of a Man and I was sooooo into the drama, he was magnificent in it. But then when the news hit, I just couldn't bring myself to carry on. Hopefully, one day I will be able to watch SOAM in its entirety.

See, if this post reminded me of Park Yong Ha, what more could the drama Love Song do if they did continue airing it? I think the production team made a good decision in not continuing with the drama because it won't be the same without Park Yong Ha. I still couldn't believe that he's gone, because I loved him in Story of a Man. And same with Choi Jin Shil. I only saw The Last Scandal of My life last year so I knew that she's already gone and yet, it sort of feels like she's not really gone.
And yes, Yoon Eun Hye is gorgeous in that photo. And I love her dress.

THIS is my BEST top favorite actress Yoon Eun Hye looks very beautiful from her black-white picture, ofc.
Geez, I really miss that decreased actor Park Yong Ha when I love watching him in that awesome drama "A Man's Story". I was thinking that I would like to see more Park Yong Ha in another drama in the future......but, unfortunately, it suddenly happened to him. =/

Alas. Was really looking forward to this interesting pairing, on top of Tian Mi Mi being a favorite HK movie of mine.
That is one gorgeous shot of PYH. Was actually an
anti-fan after WS back then ... but after watching him in On Air, went on to dig up Loving You after. And I completely changed my mind.
Delusional as it may be, it's still hard to believe he is gone. He was always seems so sunny and smiling. Wherever he is, I hope he's at peace and happier now.
I still like to think he kinda exists out there, in another parallel world ... so we just don't/won't get to see his works anymore. (afterall these actors are so far away from us anyway, and have agencies that sometimes spin glossy unreal fantasy packages to feed fans with. 'reality' is sometimes as good as spin-doctoring fantasy in their world).

Major props to Yoon Eun Hye for being so loyal, sticking it out for 9 months not even demanding payment for it.
Verdi Media's CEO, Yoon Young Ha stated, "I'm very thankful towards Ms. Yoon Eun Hye. If it were any other actors, they would have left a long ago.
If the production wouldn't go as scheduled, some actors bring lawsuits to the production and cause a legal warfare just to leave, even after having taken the signing bonus and some pay. But Ms. Yoon Eun Hye is keeping her promise even without having received any signing bonus or pay.

It's nothing compare to her waiting for the movie "Fox Light". The movie (before MBMD) with the same PD of MBMD which she had planned for 3 years to film before it was canceled. 'Fox Light' was a mystery melodrama movie.
This "relationship" is also the reason why when director Heo In Moo decided to film 'My Black Mini Dress', Yoon Eun Hye was the first person to receive the scenario.
This facts was revealed through her recent (MBMD promotion) interview.
While I admit that YEH isn't the best actress in Korea IMO she's the best actress as a person (meaning in personality, attitude etc.). And apparently many people still appreciate this traits over acting skill, that's why she's now the highest paid actress in Korea :)

Park Yong Ha's death is very sad, I hope he's found peace.
Yoon Eun Hye being loyal is good, but is it worth all the criticism she gets for it?
She's done a single project in last 3 to 4 years. I understand that this is because she stayed with delayed MFL and Love Song. She has been criticized over this, many people questioning if she's an actress at all.
It's good that this loyalty thing gives her enough satisfaction to go through all the negativity.
But in the end, there's a problem staying too loyal at the cost of losing your effectiveness is brand power, acting skills, and taking on criticisms. Because in the end, viewers will lose interest and your loyalty won't count for anything to them.

Actors/actresses are people too.
They have their own idea of propriety and decency. It just so happens that YEH thinks it proper to try to stay with a project as long as she can instead of dumping it casually like other stars.
Perhaps she values her own principles over:
"effectiveness, brand power, and acting skills"
I also applaud her for not succumbing to pressure. If all stars were emotionally/mentally weak, we'd have more tragic deaths like PYH or CJS.

Yes. I do respect her choice and what she has done.
That is why I didn't include her lost earnings of millions in missing out on other work. The comment above from Verdi Media said she didn't take guaranteed money even. That's crazy. Some actors, who are paid less than her receive nearly 500,000 us dollars in guaranteed money up front. She must have lost out on millions of dollars from 'Love Song' and from missing other projects due to waiting for 'MFL' and 'Love Song'.
This is a harsh business. People will judge her without considering that she made sacrifices.
I respect her decision to be loyal at the cost of criticisms and losing money, but as a professional, she should draw a line somewhere with the loyalty thing.

Yes, she lost out on millions for her loyalty...but that's why she's one of the most special person in the business and why all the pds, writers, actors, directors, and etc. absolutely love her.
A senior actress in MFL cried and gave her a hug after the drama and said, "I've never met someone like you before" because YEH was so nice to her.
i will quote what The Vineyard Man PD said about her:
"I wish everyone I will work with in the future will be like Yoon Eun Hye."

...a sad reality in life. You lost skill..yea maybe but not brand power. Oh sorry for exaggerating, but I think she can have any project she wants. When I learn abt the almost a year waiting... I came to admire her not just an actress but as a person as well. For YeH to honor the agreement and not to follow the common practice in the showbiz; grabbing every available project...yea no wonder its a messed-up world out there because few people in the entertainment value friendship and relationship. If you ask me? truly she's admirable person. So, even if people says that her acting sucks I wouldn't care coz I knew she put heart and soul in what she does...beside she's still young and there's a lot to learn and improve.

I agree with you, absolutely.
Whenever I think of his death, it's not just the fact that he died that comes to my mind, it's the shock and disbelief that everyone expressed at the time that was the most astonishing.
I always think of that one video they had of the people from the funeral walking out, So Ji-Sub such a mess, his mother talking to him.... :(

mte. :( love Park YongHa ... have watched quite a few of his shows. I was seriously shocked when I read news of his suicide. Too sudden and totally unexpected cause I thought he was doing very well in his career. Life is so fragile indeed. RIP Park YongHa. <3

I recalled how happy I was when I heard bout Love Song which casted PYH and YEH to be its leads.
But... It was too painful when PYH's death came. Couldn't believe myself.

Something that I just can't do is watch a drama in which the leading or supporting actors died in real life. I even dropped 'Who are you?' because I got to know about the death of Lee Un, who I liked a lot in Coffee Prince. This is also the reason why I didn't watch 'Story of a Man' and 'Last Scandal', even though these both are A list dramas.

dwnloaded Comrades: Almost a Love Story few days ago & watched it right away, i feel that the movie fits really well with YEH, too bad that the production company shelved the project, but i guess its better for YEH to quit than wait for nothing, im sure that there will be better projects waiting for her too.

I watched On air, just to watch the actor that had died, but in the first episode i fell for his character. Then he was even better, his smile, his personality.( I found some bts, and some of his shows)
Now i'm so sad about him, that i cannot watch any of his other works. This drama would have been so good. I still miss him, and i will forever, at least we've got his work to remember him.

I had just finished story of a man and was checking his credits to watch something else and it was soo sad to see that I will never be able to see him again. I've been thinking about him a lot these days because I just got my sister addicted to Korean damas and I was giving her a list of the jjangs ( did I use that word correctly?) I wouldn't watch this drama. It is really too sad. I hope none of the other actors I've come to love will leave me. Like kim soo hyun that baby alien!

Considering the circumstances, I think that she did the right decision...After all that speculation about our dear Park Yong Ha's replacement like So Ji Sub, Won Bin, Ryu Shi Won, Eric, Jo Hyun Jae etc...and no one willing to fulfill the place left by PYH, because of the unfortunate event, I could see this coming. Props to her for sticking with this project for so long!
