Kim Jae-won’s drama comeback

Kim Jae-won (My Love Patzzi, Hwang Jini) is just barely two weeks out of the military, but he’s already got a leading role lined up in a drama. Looks like someone’s eager to get back in the game. And I’m sure it’s not a moment too soon for fans who have waited two years. He’s been cast as the lead in MBC’s Do You Hear My Heart, opposite Hwang Jung-eum (Giant, High Kick Through the Roof), reportedly a much-coveted role.

PD Kim Sang-ho (Fantasy Couple) was looking for a clean-cut, refined type for the lead, someone who genuinely seems like a good guy. PD Kim said that he went to Tony Ahn‘s father’s funeral, and there he saw Kim Jae-won, staying up all night by his friend’s side, and was struck by his genuine concern. (Kim Jae-won and Tony Ahn served their military duty at roughly the same time.) Aw, there’s something so awesome about brothers in arms showing up to be supportive in times of tragedy, even in their civilian lives.

And no one could argue that Kim Jae-won doesn’t seem like the nicest guy ever. I picture him as the kid who always did what his mother told him, flossed after every meal, and never ever broke a girl’s heart. The statistical probability of that last one is slim to none, I’m sure, but that’s just the kind of guy he appears to be. Hopefully that means his character will be warm and good-hearted, if PD Kim is casting to type.

Do You Hear My Heart will replace Flames of Desire and premieres in April.

It seems like forever since i watched "Beijing My Love" & "Wonderful Life" !!

I find it weird that Mr. Hwang Jin Yi is out of the military while Mr. Secret Garden has just entered... so The Secret-garden-girl has at least one leading man?

Don't worry she will find another one...rarely a kdrama sports the same pair as a previous one
though the movie “100 days with Mr Arrogant” and Hwang Jin Yi have the same pair

Her Duelist leading man Kang Dong Won is in military too... somehow they will find her anther sexy partner

Ooh... is it like that with k-dramas?

Because is in the Philippines, you usually have repeating leads. Like a famous pair would have 2-3 different series with them as leads. I want repeat pairings for k-dramas!!!

(PSH and KSY from PP, Jae Hee and Han Chae Young from Chun Hyang, etc.)

And that is why I sometimes hate watching Filipino Romantic movies ... actors/actresses do not improve because they keep working with the same people. No variety.

Honestly, it's better to have different partners and grow your skills and show different emotions. If I see another Kim Chiu and Gerald pairing (example) .... might as well stick to one show and keep them there with no surprises. Been there, done that.

i agree with you JB....he's one of those guys who would yield to what his mother told him to do....i miss him a lot since his last project and i certainly look f/ward to watching this with much intent! welcome back KJW....all da best to your upcoming project! the synopsis is more than enough to tickle my fancy!

Girlfriday, totally agree with you! KJW just have this lovable smile which makes him so endearing to everyone.

For me he's like this older version of Lee Seunggi whom everyone likes.

man, but everything that Kim Jae-won acted in was from another era of romance K-ent. I really hope that he can carve out a spot for himself in such a different industry!

yay!!!! i'm excited. the plot about him going deaf sounds interesting enough. i hope it won't be a 20+ series tho. i'll be too tired to sit through it after finishing family honor, assorted gems and waiting for the last 2 episodes of queen of reversals is killing me.

Yay! I'm so glad he's back!

I remember watching 100 Days with Mr. Arrogant (...whose memory wouldn't be good after five times watching....) and just falling in love with his performance!

Romance was delicious, and though Love Patzzi wasn't quite my style he acted charming in that one as well!

April can't come soon enough! (I'm a bit glad he hasn't left the army looking chiseled and all too masculine, his cheeky smile and adorable countenance is just far too precious to be replaced!)

It's been forever and a century since Hwang Jin Yi came out and even longer since Wonderful Life, Romance and My Love Patzzi. And way to go PD Kim SangHo for awarding this role to him. Good deeds will never be overlooked =)

It's the smile; it's a warm, welcoming smile. Makes you think of sunshine, butterflies and young love :P

I'd love to see him do something intense and bad-ass though; it'd be serial "miscasting" but it'd be interesting to see.
