High Kick 3 to air in the fall
by javabeans
It was only a matter of time: With two hit High Kick shows under its belt, production company Chorokbaem Media has decided upon the basic outline for a third series, which for now is just known as High Kick 3.
Already anticipation is pretty high: High Kick 3 boasts a much, much larger budget than either of the others. Season 3 gets 8.7 billion won, which is 2.75 times that of the second season’s 3.16 billion won. Big time money for big time expectations. It’ll also be a wee bit shorter than the other two, and is scheduled for 120 episodes. (Season 1 was 167 episodes, while Season 2 had 126.)
The series to start it all was Unstoppable High Kick back in 2006, which launched multiple careers and was a huge ratings success. (New stars included Jung Il-woo, Park Min-young, Kim Bum, Kim Hye-sung.) The family sitcom veered away from MBC’s previous college campus sitcoms (i.e., the Nonstop series) and centered around a regular multigenerational family with normal issues treated in a light-hearted way. Not groundbreaking stuff dramatically, but pleasant to watch and buoyed by its charming cast members. Season 2 was just as popular, and also effective at shooting its leads to stardom (Shin Se-kyung, Yoon Shi-yoon, Hwang Jung-eum, Daniel Choi).
Casting for Season 3 will be completed in March and April, with plans to hit airwaves by fall. One wonders which up-and-coming actors will get the chance of a lifetime to make a big splash with this show (I do appreciate the producers’ preference for selecting unknowns) — though I wouldn’t be surprised if Grumpy Grandpa Lee Soon-jae were tapped for a third round.

S1 will always be best.
I didn't quite enjoye S2 as I felt it didn't have that same charm or those simplistic, fun episodes.
And when they say they are making the budget bigger, I hope they don't go all out in making it big, flashy, and overly dramatic.

I forgot: I just read an article about idols taking over, so I really hope that the cast will be for serious actors/actresses... at least the majority.

The first season was freaking hilarious! I stopped watching the second season after reading about the ending. I did prefer the cast in season one to the cast in season two. And though I enjoyed High Kick, I still much prefer Unstoppable Marriage in the sitcom genre.

yes!! another unstoppable marriage fan! I was afraid that no one had watched it since I heard the ratings for it weren't very good!
I started the first high kick but had trouble finding subs for it. What little I saw was pretty enjoyable. I really liked the divorced gym teacher! I didn't watch season 2 and had resolved never to watch it after finding out the ending.

unstoppable marriage was my stress-reliever. [thank gawd at that time we had kbsworld]. it didnt enjoy such high ratings but i thought it was a gem. altho, that sitcome prevented me to take Lee Jung seriously now, no matter how much he tries to change his image with his comeback, i only see him as the stupid second bro. heh]

I'm a huge fan of both seasons.
I love Jung Il Woo and the teacher in season 1. The actress who played the teacher is now married and not acting much.. too bad..
I love Hwang Jung Eum and Daniel Choi in season 2..
i love season 2 until the ending, so i didn't watch the last episode because it will spoil my love for the drama.

I'm with you, it sure is fun and entertaining! Wait till you get to the last episode, that is the funniest episode of all!! Who is the writer of the last episode? He/she should get an award for the "Stupidest Ending
of All Time". Imagine tens of thousands of viewers who invested all their time in this long sitcom only to be dissed with an incongruous ending.
Sad. Only in Korea.

I'm kind of wary even though I am fan of both seasons. I'll keep an eye out but at the same time, I hope they don't mess up like they did in Season 2. I loved it until they screwed up the ending episode with the lamest ending because they switched PD's.
But I am excited to see new faces and see how their fates are going to change. I really hope they bring back grandpa Lee Soon Jae.

I'm not too fond of the High Kick series but am currently watching the same PD-Writer duo's current cable comedy series 'Once upon a time in Saengchori' and it's SUCH a refreshingly better brand of humour than the relatively cheesier one used in the High Kick series.
Maybe because cable's offering a bit more freedom or expression? Eh... Must be something like that anyway.

I was a huge fan of Season 1 because of Minho aka Kim Hyu-Sung's character; I mean, the drama itself was winning but while everyone went gaga over Jung Il-Woo's badboy, I fell for the nerdy older brother and his bromance with Kim Bum.
If only, If only season 2 has impressed me, but I guess I was still biased toward season 1.
I'll give this a look but I doubt I'd be into it after the heartbreak of first season lol.

I love watching daily dramas. And High kicks 1 & 2 by far are my all time favorites. They are not only funny, but heart warming. I was a happy camper during these airing. I rushed home to watch every day after work.
My favorite characters from high kick 2( through the roof) are:
1.The nasty but cute little girl Hae Ri( played by Jin Ji Hae). She dominates the screen. Btw, where is she now?
2.The idiot son in law Jung Bo Suk ( yes, the same Jung Bo Suk-evil Jo Pil Yeon in Giant). He even performed raps-it was so charming, it brought tears in my eyes. What a magnificent actor this guy is!!
Although both series produced many young idol stars, but the overall cast is excellent. I can’t wait for high kick 3 to start.

I watched High kick through the roof diligently for the whole series to be totally disapointed with the last six episodes, it was like they forgot what the show was about, either that or just couldn't think of how to get out of the whole they wrote themselves into.
What the first 99% and lesave off the end

I've always wanted to watch one of the High Kick seasons but I can never find any properly working links! Plus the seasons are so long that I probably wouldn't be able to find the series without a couple of episodes broken or something. I'm glad this one is coming out so I can see episodes right away, woot I'm excited for this! :D

I actually wasnt put off by the ending. I still thought the drama as a whole was a winner. If the drama were to continue then it would be cool if hwang jung eum's and yoon ji yoon's characters could have gotten together. You must admit their relationship was pretty funny and close. Especially the bathroom scene.

Hey, idiots, did it ever cross your minds that international fans were the reason why high kick 2 had that Kind of ending, because of you guys, who were so cruel even writing to the PD’s that they want the original cast, and high kick 2 wasn't even airing at that time, that was rude, Korean fans were so excited, but the internationals were arrr rude, even have the guts to message the PDA, my goodness, that's why they ended it like that so that no more asking or rude awakening to change the cast without even seeing how great the cast were...definitely better acting definitely than High kick 1, honestly I didn't even get to finish high kick 1 coz I got disappointed of how corny it was turning out to be.. HIGH KICK 2 > High Kick 1
BTW Park Ha Sun was amazing in High Kick 3, soooo funny, lol
