Spring training takes Dr. Champ to the beach

Hard-bodied athletes frolicking on the beach? Yeah, that’s just one reason to watch Dr. Champ (or technically about a dozen reasons, if you count ’em individually).
The following photos come from the SBS drama’s Episode 6, which airs tomorrow, October 12. In it, the judo players who live and train at the Taereung Olympic facility head to the beach for some spring training. Leading the pack are series lead Jung Kyeo-woon, playing the adorably goofball Ji-heon, and Jung Seok-won, his rival and teammate Sang-bong. Also prominently pictured is Shindong, who appears to be trying to swim in about a foot of water. Mayhap he ain’t the brightest bulb, but he is sweet.
Below the photos of the team, we have the rest of the main cast, featuring leading lady Kim So-yeon as the new doctor and Uhm Tae-woong as Taereung’s medical director, rounded out by love rival Cha Ye-ryun as a former swimming star and now coach.
The drama has been getting ratings in the 10% range, which is in the middling range. It does lack the adultery-revenge-makjang formula that tends to shoot dramas to ratings highs (see: Baker King Kim Tak-gu), but I’m enjoying the refreshing pace — and the awesome cinematography.

Kim So Yeon's sweater thingy is soooo ugly and Cha Ye Ryun's outfit isn't any better. I know there's a lot of man-candy in this drama, but show our lovely ladies some wardrobe love, too!
Other than that, these pics are adorable. I hope they resolve the "drama" at the end of episode 4 quickly and get on to the good stuff. ^_^

I'm so so happy with this drama, at first I wasn't expecting much cause the truth is this wasn't advertised as much as Sungkyunkwan Scandal. But now am watching this and waiting for this more than SS. It has something about it that pulls you but I can't figure out what!!

frankly speaking, me too. I more curious about what will happen in Dr Champ than in SS. I find Dr Champ less predictable and therefore more interesting.

Me too..... Dr. Champ is so refreshing. SS is sort of fun but it doesn't excite me for some reason. If not for Yong ha and Jaesin i won't even care.

No, I'm with you on that one. His haircut is quite frankly unappealing to me. It gives me the vibe that it's not finished. On the other hand, he could be sporting dreads, and I would still find him awesome (though I hope that day never comes). You rock my socks off UTW!

hahahahaha Him in dreads? That is if his character is a pirate, I'm all for it! Jack Sparrows anyone? ;-)
And you're right, his hair seem like it's cut half-way. You'd think as a doctor, he'd be financial stable enough to get a full haircut.
Maybe Kim So Yeon's character pay for the rest of the haircut later on or better yet, do it herself. ;-) I'm game!

I'm happy that Kim So Yeon chooses bright characters lately, compared to her previous works..which most of them were darker dramas and she had to cry all the time.
She's looking good being cheerful and clumsy.
Ahh, I still don't know which pair I should ship. I love both male leads, with their so different personalities...

Her role as the bad newscater in All About Eve left such an impact on me that I can never watch her in any dramas since. Saw her in Iris and while she was good, i was not emotionally engaged to her as an actress .
BUT it all changed with Prosecutor Princess. Her taking on a bubbly, cheerfull role made me realise that she really is a good , versatile actress and I can feel that emotional connection to her acting. From her interviews after PP, i am impressed at the way she treats her acting craft, she herself has said that playing 'Ma HyeRi' has allowed her to break away from just following character as written in the script but to also put some of her own spin/input into the character. I am glad that as she enters her 30s, she has found a new way to view her acting craft and she deserves all the success that comes her way.
I am still at Epi. 15 of PP, could have easily finished both ep.15 & 16 during the weekend but I am watching it ever so slowly as I don't really want it to end. While the recap for Dr Champ sounds interesting, I am not yet ready to see her with new leading men cos I am still so emotionally invested in her Ma Hye Ri's character (and of course PSH's character) that I am not ready to let PP go....yet.

I'm enjoining Dr. Champ exactly because it doesn't have the adultery-revenge-makjang formula.
It is most refreshing to see a world that doesn't have nasty, evil or vengeful people ... so far. Although we did have Dr. Seo and he may pop up again.
I wonder if watching too much of the adultery-revenge-makjang dramas can put one into a depression.

UTW looks good here - wearing regular belt. Better than previous stills where he was wearing those belts with letters: "H" - hermes perhaps and in another "Z". Was thinking if the stylist was going to go from A-Z!

this is actually the only drama i am currently watching!! dropped everything else but i've grown fond of seeing kim soyeon. after playing the second lead for so many years it's good to see that she's finally breaking out. her acting has improved dramatically since the soonpoong days.
uhm tae woong is so charismatic too. and cha ye run... ahhh so prettyyyyyyyyy. she reminds me of gemma ward... maybe i just like faces like hers... T.T

Oh man, those judo guys have great bodies. In ep 5, when Ji-heon asked Sang-bong whether women don't like athlete guys, I literally screamed at my computer, "Of course not! Not with bodies like that!"

i agree! this is fun to watch! course i love the actors in it and the handsome guys don't hurt either. it does have an appeal to draw you in and just enjoy. not every drama has to be an angst y heart rending edition!

Love this drama... I like that it doesn't have too much angsty material (Read: terminal disease, demented mother in law, falling in love with a relative-who-you-do-not-know-about)
Uhm Tae Woong's character is slowly developing and he has this caged animal vibe!
Kim So Yeon has always be a favourite and will watch anything she acts in.
