Bae Yong-joon’s book to be published overseas

Bae Yong-joon‘s travel-essay book on Korean culture has been a bestseller in both Korea and Japan since its release a year ago. Now he’s launching a Taiwanese publication, and preparing for a release in China as well as an English translation.
Bae’s Journey in Search of Korea’s Beauty went through 13 re-printings within a month of its release, skyrocketing it to the bestseller list right away. Not a surprise, considering Bae’s superstar status in Korea and Japan. The man’s pretty much a god in Japan.
The book was especially praised for Bae’s earnest introspection and soul searching, woven throughout the travel essays that take him across the country in search of traditional Korean culture found in food, temples, and textiles. The book aims to introduce Korean culture to a global audience, and to that end has spent the better part of a year on its Chinese translation.
Journey in Search of Korea’s Beauty will be available in Taiwan this week. Next up is China, and an English-market release, currently in the works.

You can strike the "pretty much" and just go ahead and call him a god in Japan, pretty sure there were omamori with his face on them at a shinto shrine I visited in Ehime.

LOL! Recently saw on tvN that there's this sort of "gospel choir" in Japan; composed of old ladies, who regularly meet, peruse over pictures and articles on him, and even compose and sing songs about him! Talk about fan love!

Ooh, an English edition would go straight to the top of my wishlist. I'm glad to see there's so much interest in the book, though, since it sounds like a lot of time an effort was put into it.

me too! i would love a copy of the english version that is coming. he is on my list of first loves in korean dramas with winter sonata! i love it when actors or singers take the time to share their culture or help others understand things about their country! its a very fun way to learn!

I am so happy that the English version is on the works since I've been waiting for it since the book was first released; not only because I am a BYJ fan (my first-of many-hallyu loves) but because I'm interested i \n learning more about Korea. I might even buy the Krean version, too.
BYJ personally visited and stayed at all of the places he wrote about, so we'll get his account based on his experiences at those places. This book is the result of his not been able to give a good answer whenever he was asked about places he recommended for foreigners to visit in Korea.

I'll be surprised if his part in dream high is more than a
small one, his company,KEYEAST wants to feature the next generation, he has lots of businesses, (restaurants) and wanted to be a director, not an actor in the first place. Whether its called milking the Japanese ajummas or spreading the K love its made him rich AND respected. Good books on current K culture are not so easy to come by in English. Good for him.

Wow, this looks really cool. I really want to read this. Will they have an English version in the works? Is it just me or does it seam like it is so hard for English speakers to learn about Korea?
Can someone explain to me why a society so fixed in learning English does not immediately made an English version of their books?
Or at least put it on Amazon?
I am bitter because I want to buy it :(

That's like a xmas/new year/valentines gift all in one. I can't wait for the english version. He is the only Korean actor that I liked/loved and Winter Sonata is the best time ever K-series ;) for me. Yonsama!!! Go3!!!
