A bejeweled Han Ye-seul in Paris
by javabeans
Han Ye-seul made a recent trip to Paris at the invitation of luxury jeweler Cartier, and is pictured here wearing a one-of-a-kind necklace, valued at 4 billion won (3.3 million USD). She traveled to France in mid-August, after previously making the acquaintance of Cartier CEO Bernard Fornas last year. (She’d attended a September 2009 Cartier exhibition in Beijing called “Cartier Treasures — King of Jewellers, Jewellers to Kings.”)
The trip also served as a chance to shoot a fashion spread for High Cut magazine, as pictured below. The shoot was taken in the early morning hours outside the Park Hyatt Hotel.
Meanwhile, Han has not yet announced her next acting project, and it’s been the better part of a year since her last role in SBS melodrama Will It Snow For Christmas. There was talk of her joining Jang Geun-seok in the You’re My Pet (Kimi wa petto) remake, but that movie project has encountered some delays.

Ok...the Kang Ji Hwan banner was present during the reading of this post and OMG...I literally laughed out loud. "I will have your tears for breakfast!!!" fierce scowl is such a hoot. Who made that banner? Epic win. I love it sooo much :) That just made my day. Thank you to whomever!

Frankly, the Korean hand gesture of "fighting" is inappropriate on the street of Paris. No wonder the French guys looks so amazed, albeit feeling offended by this woman!!
I guess only Korean stars like to give this type of "indecent" hand gesture!! Hahaha...is it because of pure naivity thinking that their hand gesture of fighting is universally acceptable, hahaha....even in Paris. Guess that they must have little knowledge of the European etiquette!!

If you're referring to the sixth photo, I'm not certain that she's intentionally giving the Korean "fighting" gesture. If you look closely, it appears that there are strands of her hair in her hand. I think she was just fiddling with her hair, and the photographer called to her to get her attention and snapped a candid shot. It looks to me that the High Cut photographer was taking candid and semi-candid shots of her outside, compared to the obviously composed and staged shots of her inside Cartier's.
Honestly, I think you might be reading too much into that photo. Those two men just look a little surprised to see a photographer taking shots, not at what Han Ye-seul is doing. They're looking at the photographer, not Han Ye-seul.

Really, I must say, your comment is somewhat rude.
Regardless of whether or not Han Yeh-Seul is doing the fighting hand gesture, your comment seems to target most Koreans in general, as it's not a gesture only done by celebrities.
While perhaps not ill-intentioned, the wording of your expressions wasn't very polite and kind of strikes the wrong chord... :/

Offending gesture in Paris ?
Beg me a pardon, I am European and there is nothing offending in the famous "Fighting" gesture.
The offending gesture I suppose you refering to, should include a öhmmm öhmm a showing middlefinger...which is the "very offending gesture" in Europe.
Well, maybe we europeans dont know much about asian hospitalitiy and their culture - and maybe seem as very rude people to them as we do not greet like them, and lack of "gestures" of respect...which is non-intentended....But I believe we "Europeans" are not so stupid to interpret some non-european gestures wether they are rude or not ?
I read your comment with a strange amazement...:(
By the way, I dont believe that Han Ye Seul is never such an uncultivated person as you wanted to imply !
Han Ye Seul basher ...or what you are ?

"naiveté". You need to spell check when you're bashing someone, otherwise it looks like you don't know much either.
So what? How offensive is she in doing that? Not at all. Please!!
What have you done this week?

Wow. I guess it's pretty telling when the first time that I looked at the first photograph, I didn't even notice the 4 billion won one-of-a-kind Cartier necklace. Because my eyes were immediately drawn to Han Ye-seul's face. She. is. Beautiful. Oh, and it doesn't hurt that she also has a lovely figure.
Having watched her in Couple or Trouble, I always knew that she was very pretty. But in these photos, she is downright stunning.

Yes, I live in Europe and visit Paris at least twice a year. You bet, if I saw her giving me a fighting gesture, I will sure give her a finger in return, especially outside a hotel or shopping. She really needs to mind her manners and BTW, you too!! ^____________^

I love how people are making it sound a lot more serious than it actually is. As the others mentioned above, she's not making the "hwaiting" sign. She is in fact just fixing the hair strands that are out of place. There's nothing wrong with the "hwaiting" gesture. It's just a matter of cultural differences. For instance, there are a lot of people who aren't from the American culture and they use their middle fingers are a method of pointing. Clearly, this isn't a big deal to them but Americans would beg to differ. It's not their fault that they didn't grow up understanding what the middle finger symbolized. Of course, one could always argue that they should have researched prior to visiting a new area. But then again, there so many gestures that are consider inappropriate. How could one simply know it all?

Dude, I'm in Paris about as much as you too, and I was there a couple of weeks ago, if I'd spotted Han Ji-wan I would've been ecstatic and given her a hwaiting hand gesture too.
I don't think she was doing it there, but who cares? How is it even offensive? It's awesome. And she's awesome!
No, I'm not a big fan of hers or anything, but there's something really likable about her as a person, plus I liked WISFC and her acting did improve a lot in its second half.

Offenssive is all voice down to intent and motive and under what context. Frankly, I have no idea of who she is and even up to now, I still have no idea who she is and what movie or drama she has acted in.

The colour black really suits her, it makes her skin glow. Or, maybe it's the work of the camera. Nonetheless, HYS looks gorgeous.
@Observer: You must lead a very dull life if you're intentions of clicking on this article was to simply provoke people. Like others have already said, I too live in Europe (London) and I would be equally confused (if I wasn't aware of Korean culture) to find a woman raising her fist saying "Hwaiting" but if it's said with a smile then I guess it wouldn't be misleading and certainly not offensive. She was indeed just fixing her hair. You mentioned you don't know her, I can assure you she's one of the most improbable actresses to be unaware of Western culture, considering she was born and brought up in America.
