Gu Hye-sun begins work on vampire movie
by javabeans
Gu Hye-sun‘s feature directorial debut, Magic, isn’t out yet, but already the actress-director has announced her next project as writer-director.
In a recent interview with Star News, Gu said that the scriptwriting has been completed for a vampire-themed story, and she has already begun working on preparations for the film. (As she has written both of the projects she has directed, I’m presuming she also wrote this script.) However, “Just because it’s about vampires doesn’t mean it’s a creepy horror movie. It’ll be a melodrama that features a vampire.”
Gu’s first directorial project was 2008’s short film The Madonna (aka The Cheerful Caretaker), which traveled the short film circuit (which includes the Pusan, Pucheon, and Asiana festivals, among others). Magic is her first feature-length film, and will release on June 24.
In addition to her directorial endeavors, news was recently announced that she would return to acting in the drama series The Musical, which would be her first project as an actor since 2009’s Boys Before Flowers.

“Just because it’s about vampires doesn’t mean it’s a creepy horror movie. It’ll be a melodrama that features a vampire.”...so I guess it won't be Buffy the Vampire Slayer ....If it has a male vampire,it could be Angels (David Boreanez(sp??)). And please (like A. #2) states, NO Twilight!! ( Speaking from a mother who has a teenaged twilighter).( Personally, I think the vampire theme has been overused in books, tv series (3 or 4 now??)....Gu Hye Sun, I think you're a better writer- be original, please give us something "fresh" ;)

I think it's great that a young woman is out there doing things rather than just swivel their hips from side to side in showbiz.. I actually think that she can be a good role model for a lot of young women in Korea especially since she seems to be very hard working and unafraid to stretch her wings. You go girl!

That's a horrible thing to believe! Cancer!?! (o , 0) You need to stop watching those kind of stories. That's all I'm saying. (* , *)
I see she looks very tired and show a case of insomnia with a diplomatic smile but more power to her. I hope she pace herself well. And I do agree that GHS has an ability to bring something fresh onscreen other than a spinoff to Twilight or Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Gawd please.

Please do not spread horrible rumours. You would not wish that on anyone.
GHS already has given the reasons in all her interviews why she does so many things. She said herself she is a workaholic and cannot sit idle. She basically is full of energy and ideas and decided to pursue what she likes. From all accounts, she appears to be a humble ,beautiful and kind soul.

Amazing...I hate that vampire stuff, but the Goo Hye Sun stuff is always worth tuning in to.
P.S. "Jandi" was a bit of a vampire in a way. Pretty much anyone she touched was touched by her. (Though apparently, not everyone was "touched" in the same way...)

Jeez, Twilight and Buffy get name dropped, but not the greatness that is Let The Right One In (movie AND book are amazing)? For shame! :-p
Interesting to see how this Gu Hye Sun project turns out. Wonder if somewhere down the line she'll try to write a story for Drama City or something.
P.S. I love her smile!

She is still very young and should develop her career as an actress while her looks last and be a director later. Such a quirky character.

Aren't there to many 'vampire stories' already? Why not a different theme?
I like Koo Hye Sun and I admire her for trying all different activities. I think she's a great role model to young korean girls.
But shouldn't she first wait and see how her movie "Magic" does on the box office and wait to see film critics and public's reaction before trying a new project so fast?

She screams BLEH...The part about "master of none" is tailormade for her. She really is the jack-of-all-trade & master of none.
It's so weird to see someone like her in a world so caught up with capitalism & division of labour.
It also reminds me that in this day & age we kinda don't like people who juggle many hats...
Thank said, it does not take away the fact that I neither find her skilled (as in really skilled not "oh I'm good at this...let's ddodle & hope one day I can have an exhibition" kinda thing)...how many years has she trained?
And I do not find her the least bit talented....not when she's taking the short-cuts-of-short cuts to "manufacture" products.
She might not be your classic manufactured idol, but she does really know how to manufacture a conveyour belt of stuff that...nobody really remembers?

uh oh. arguments ensue.
anywayz. if her movie is good, i think she should settle to become a director. i think she has that potential to direct.
well...the fact that she goes ahead and tries her hand in everything doesn't make her very accomplished, but at least she has guts.
i hope her acting improves in The Musical.
but yes. i'm sick of vampires. never find them to be exciting. why can't anyone do something more about gnomes, elves and enchanted donkeys... :P no, i wasn't referring to Donkey.

Whatever Goo Hye Sun is doing at least she's doing what she loves, come positive or painful criticisms. @ 20 (pencils) you kept saying that GHS is a Master of None, I would say, she is the Master of herself. She doesn't dance according to other peoples music. What about you "pencils"? Probably you have a masters degree or probably doctorate degree in hating people. What a pitiful, sick state you are in!

Somehow people these days can't accept that there might be differing opinions, that some may like her, and others like me really do not lke what she's doing (not her per se. I don't eben know her).because she can't seem to make up her mind on what do to do or which of the things that interest her that she would like to seriously train for.
Don't know how that amounts to hating & I really don't think masters degree or probably doctorate degree in hating people to point out what so PAINFULLY obvious about her. She IS a master of none (Just a thought for you guys out there...Do you really think she has mastered acting after looking at her potrayal of JanDi? To say yers is stretching it very farDo you really think she would have the opportunity at an art exhibition, directing, script writing etc etc...if she were not a celebrity? I leave you to draw your own conclusion.
Granted, she does not need to care about what ANYBODY says, I think she knows better than anybody how flickle & short a career in the entertainment industry & at the rate she's jumping from one project to the next, by the time her stint in this job ends, let's hope she has some mad skills to support herself.
And unlike some people out there who can't bother to read & think positively about what I've wrote, I also said among other things "It also reminds me that in this day & age we kinda don’t like people who juggle many hats…"
Maybe you should have drawn the conclusion that Pencils DOES have her biasness towards Goo Hye Sun's body of work just like anybody else in the world and that she RECOGNISES it. So I definately am not a hater. At least if given the opportunity to say anything to Goo Hye Sun I would sincerely tell her that I think she ought to take things slowly...she still has her whole life to try things out. No need to squeeze everything in a few months. Sure beats having to blindly dupport her don't you think? :D

I do agree with Pencils to some degree.
I had considered KHS as one of the best young actress after watching King and I. Then I watched BBF, and she was very disappointing. But it is true that acting isn't always 100% due to the actrors, alot is depended on it.
Having said that, KHS's worst acting job led to international popularity which she has the right to exploit. It's obvious that she is not going to be a singer, director, or etc. full time. But working on such projects that she may enjoy, with the help of other professionals create an image of her boundless talent. Some fans who enjoyed BBF will point out that she is multi talented. This is a great marketing scheme. Afterall, leading actresses aren't going to be in a movie or drama more than once a year. So, it's good to do other projects.
Yes, KHS may not master acting, or all other things..
But then again, K entertainment has become something that is based more on an image rather than talent. After all, isn't making money what the business is about. She doesn't have to master acting to succeed in this business, but it does help alot that she comes off as someone who is talented. Because that's what people who already like her wants to see and hear.

Goo Hye Sun is Master of her destiny. She is doing what she loves and enjoying it . How many of us can truly claim that. The things she does is cumulative of her hard work and lifelong experiences. Being humble, she never claim to be great at it. As she said herself, she is learning all the time. I will watch Magic because the reviews were good, the music stays with you and apparently the movie makes you think. Each movie gives us a different experience, and perhaps her vampire movie will do that.
Jandi was protrayed as written in the script, and as directed . The character was not lovable, but Jun Pyo loves her. Lots of people including KBS thought she did a good acting job.

If you don't like Hye sun go play somewhere else! Why read news about her? You must be a masochist or something. LOL!
Goo Hye Sun. The more they criticize you, the lovelier you become and the more blessings you will receive. The critics will just get uglier. Their face will get as ugly as their hearts. They're all talk but not a single thing to be proud of either. As what they call in Texas, "all hats but no cattle".
Stay happy Hye Sun! We love you even more.
