Depends on how good the artwork is; but I do agree. It's quite odd that dramatic, action-packed manhwa tend to have simpler artwork that undermines the intensity which would help it the most - and which films usually bring to the table. But what do I know. I usually follow shojo manhwa, which lacks neither details nor strickened expressions nor closeups nor chibis.

@Nhu: (Btw, have you read Nana? Slice-of-life type, but very detailed in both story and artwork) The blank background leaves focus on the characters, where the smaller details have a big impact on the mood. A quote from Kubo Tite:

"Backgrounds can tell you where a character is, but I don’t think it’s that important. I don’t want to draw a background if the focus is on the character. "

For me, the simpler the artwork is, the more powerful the book becomes. As each detail is noticeable, you pick up on those things and not distracted by many details.

yes, so many promotion for this movie lately... not that i'm complaining of course...
as a comic/manga/manhwa fan myself, i always have that “the book was better than the movie” (or drama) thought, but with the right cast (and good acting), sometimes both (movie/drama vs book) can be as good... this movie (hopefully) has that factor, coz HJM and CSW are both great actors, hope the movie won't dissapoint...

I went to the pre-premiere for this movie here in korea! the movie is amaaazing and really well made. I'm a good friend of the director and wants everyone to watch to movie please!

This movie is nominated for the Cannes movie festival and is supposed to do a lot better than "the king and the clown"!!

I read the books and it seems like the movie is centered around Lee Mong Hak & Hwang Jung Hak... right? Which is very different from the Kyun Ja centric story in the manhwa. Anyway, I'm still super anticipating to watch this movie. :D

That said, I can't wait to see this movie. From what little I saw about the manga, the movie is similar to it, at least visually. But heh, I reserve judgment till I actually see the whole thing.

I've never seen HJM's drama or even movie before. But I saw him when he's a guest on Family Outing 1. He really cracked me up with his quirkyness.

are these storyboard shots? i never saw a manhwa with directional arrows before... or maybe the manhwa - storyboard - film shots... anyways... cool!
