Kim Jae-wook joins cast of Bad Guy
by javabeans
Joining Kim Nam-gil and Han Ga-in in their upcoming drama Bad Guy (or Bad Man) is Coffee Prince‘s Kim Jae-wook, who will complete the love triangle as the successor to a large corporation. His character possesses everything a person could want but feels a loneliness and emptiness inside. After losing the woman he loves, he lives a miserable life until he meets the spunky woman played by Han Ga-in, who slowly starts to open his heart. He comes up against Kim Nam-gil’s character, who has fought viciously to attain his current standing, and a rivalry unfolds between the two.
Kim Jae-wook said of this project, “In the past I have given off an androgynous image in drama and film roles, but in Bad Guy, the Tae-sung character shows a strong charisma. I’m looking forward to working in a drama after a year-long break, and more than anything I’m excited to be working with a good director and senior actors.”
The drama is slated for 20 episodes and centers around the themes of “desire, fatal love, and one man’s unstoppable ambition.” Oh Yeon-soo has also been cast, and the drama will air in May.
I’m still uncertain about this drama. If Kim Nam-gil and Oh Yeon-soo have strong chemistry, that could really be a compelling watch. Kim Jae-wook is still a question mark; he’s a likable and watchable actor, but he hasn’t really done very challenging roles and he’s still early in his career.

Yeah. I liked Kim Jae Wook in Coffee Prince. Han Ga In . . . well, the only thing I've seen her in is Witch Yoo Hee, which was . . . a show. But the badness of WTH wasn't all in the acting, so it theoretically could work.
I am getting a little tired of super successful characters who are empty inside, though. It's not the worst trope in the world, but it is pretty tired, and since it's been played a lot in the past couple years in high profile dramas, I could use a break.

After seeing KJW in Antique Bakery, I do think he's improved a lot. Less stiff and more natural. I am intrigued that he seems like he will be playing a more manly role here. My problem still lies in Han Gain. Will she be compelling or fall short as usual?

To tell the truth, I'm more concerned about Han Ga-in and her acting than Kim Jae-wook's.

Eh, such an overly cliched character... (how many young chaebol successors in Korea are there!?). I was looking forward to seeing him in a drama, but I want to see him in a different kind role. *sigh*
Too bad the series isn't 16 episodes... I can imagine things getting a wee bit draggy by the end (let's pray they don't extend it later).

Biscuit: how many young chaebol successors in Korea are there!?
silly biscuit! didn't you know? there are hundreds of them, thousands, even - they practically grow on trees over there! and they're all handsome, and spoiled, and stuck up, and overdressed. some are evil with a smooth exterior, but most are basically good hearted but unpleasant to lesser beings, at least until they fall in love with a spunky girl from the wrong side of the tracks.
oh, and i'll watch this, cliched or no, because i'll watch kim jae-wook in pretty much anything.

With Kim Jae Wook came along, i think the lead actress (Han Ga In) will surely be eaten alive by the lead actors. Make me wanna have the two lead actors as the main couple, haha! It`s sure will have more interesting plot than its now!

i really like the cast but kinda wish they had a more unique plot >.< But I'm completely in love with Kim Nam-gil so I'm so watching this no matter what haha. Normally I watch dramas based of the plots but he is an exception lol
I just hope he and Han Ga-In will have good chemistry...i adore her but haven't been impressed by her acting skills yet. hopefully she'll bring something new in this drama :)

The drama sounds so bloody cliche'. Love triangle between young hot chaebols with emotional scars either abandoned by mother, or lovers, and the poor funky girl poked it. And there we go again.
Dude, these days I watch drama merely for the eye candy. Just give me a lot of abs and work-out followed by shower scenes

"spunky woman played by Han Ga-in"
I'm not sure why that makes me laugh. I've seen her in three roles Yellow Handkerchief, Terms of Endearment and With Yoo Hee and none of them were spunky so I'm assuming this will be a stretch for her.

Possibly not cool, but on the other hand, it would make it more interesting! No Regrets meets Lovers in Paris. 8-) LOL! Some of my favorite eye candy, so I'll be watching unless it's horrid.

Oh SNAP! Despite my better judgement (like everyone's saying this has SO been done already x 100000) I now have to watch this. Come on - Kim Nam Gil AND Kim Jae-wook?! Who even thought of that? It's genius I tell you.
I think Han Ga In's lovely, but I'm SO tired of "spunky". Enough with the spunky! What's wrong with mature and realistic?
And am I the only one who has a feeling that this show's going to have a Que Sera Sera vibe? Something about the plot description and lead actors... maybe it's just wishful thinking.

In the leadup to the airing I swear the hype will be HUMONGOUS. RIDICULOUSLY gorgeous actors, and with (was it the PD or the director?) of Misa/Snow Queen involved, the vibe will be gorgeous. COME ON, HAN GA-IN. Girl should feel the pressure. Kim Jae-wook's character does indeed sound sorely cliche but you can't really put much stock by summaries so I'm going to remain hopeful. This is going to be one HELL of a year for kdramas.

@ deedee: Ughhhh, yeah. All the female leads are suppose to be "loveable and spunky" or in the world of K-drama, it means annoying...*ahem* It's like the actresses are "suppose" to be spunky, but it doesn't even feel that way at all.
Can't there be a drama with "normal" people!? A fairytale-like drama that doesn't have a chaebol. Not as a lead, a second-lead, or a minor character. A drama that is 100% chaebol free.

I am rooting hard for Jae-Wookie and Han Ga-In to be OTP.
In internet parlance, and correct me if I am wrong, but I would "ship" them together to be a couple.
I hope Kim Nam Gil loses out in the end and then starts beating up hundreds of people to get to Han Ga In, say, at a mall, and in the end, maybe 10 paces from Han Ga In, he gets pepper sprayed and arrested.
:)
Poor Nam Gil! Yay for Jae-Wookie and Han Ga-In!!!!

Glad to read I'm not the only one in the ¨I-enjoy-watching-cute-boys-together-OTP-club¨.
Kim Nam Gil and Kim Jae Wook. Dreamy! Han Ga Who?
K-dramas sometimes suffer from a lack of believable (and well-written) heroines and it's just more plausible to imagine the boys together sometimes.

@ langdon813, msim and all others who are KNG + KJW OTP: I'm on your team if you're shipping the two boys!
Because I'm honestly...not very impressed with Han Ga In. She could have done better in Witch's Amusement, but then again I didn't watch that drama for her.
@ samsooki I'd rather what you say happened to KNG happened to HGI instead LOL since I'm loving the boys in the drama.

Cliche or not.....THANK GOD he is getting a MANLY role. Don't get me wrong...I loved him in the two works I did see. (Coffee Prince and Antique...aka Antique Bakery) But I can only stand so much of guy/guy stuff before I start seeing the character as onesided. And then the uncomfortable witnessing of the going over board type acting they will be forced to do, to prove this person loves females and is suppossed to be flexible. Not every girl or woman dreams about being with a guy who could "switch teams". Not to offend the actor that I adore..but I am hoping his love for the female charcter will not feel forced. I have high hopes that he will impress me and his other fans!
