Kim Yun-jin in Harmony
by javabeans
Kim Yun-jin (often called “world star” because of her role in U.S. drama series Lost), has a new Korean film coming out, her first Korean role since 2007’s Seven Days. In Harmony [하모니], Kim plays a prisoner who joins the prison choir in order to have a one-day outing with her child, from whom she has to remain separated during her incarceration. The movie will feature Kim’s hitherto-undisplayed singing skills and opens next month.
The movie is directed by Yoon Jae-kyun, coming off a huge success with the disaster movie Haeundae, and also features “national actress” (and everyone’s favorite grandma) Na Mun-hee. She plays a conductor who wants to leave the world with “one last gift” before she dies, while quirky comic actress Jung Soo-young (City Hall, Fantasy Couple) also acts in a supporting role.
Harmony, described as a poignant and moving film, will open on January 28.
(Tangent: Who else thinks Kim Yun-jin looks like Im Soo-jung‘s older sister? Example.)

Love Kim Yun Jin! All the hype and attention is on Rain and Daniel Henney for breaking into Hollywood, but the real deal is Kim Yun Jin. She's actually on a successful US show and has acting chops. (And she doesn't speak Engrish like Rain)
BTW, she hates being called a world star. She said, paraphrasing, "I'm not a world star, so stop calling me that!" LOL!
Harmony sounds like a feelgood movie. I'm looking forward to it, but not as much as the final season of LOST! February 2nd!!

I've never seen her in anything other than Lost cuz I don't watch many Kmovies. Actually the only few Kmovies I've watched are all of the popular ones, and I haven't really liked any of them. :P

Maybe I'll watch this. I really like Kim Yun-Jin in Lost, so it should be interesting to see her in a Korean movie since I've never seen her in one. It looks like it will hold my interest for a little more than an hour, but we'll see when it comes out.

WOOO! LOST is my favorite show (when it's airing, that is). I love Kim Yun-jin's character, Sun, on the show. Her character is very complex and there's a lot about her that we don't know. I've never seen her sing, so this will be interesting. Of course, it'll be good or else why would it be a movie about her music skills.

Na Mun-hee + Jung Soo-young? Can't wait.
You know, I feel like the "leads" usually have it easier--they get most of the spotlight, often better lines, etc. It seems really hard for supporting actors to make a path for themselves--these ladies definitely pull it off. They are so funny and charming. They usually make more w/ less unlike those who, despite the hype, are lackluster (i.e folks like Kim Tae-hee).

I've never seen her Korean roles, but I definitely do love to watch Lost. I'm sad that I haven't been keeping up with the show. But I absolutely loveee her character. She's such a great actress! I applaud her for breaking through the industry as an ASIAN actress in Hollywood. =)

Looking forward to this movie. I haven't seen Lost but I watched Seven Days and was so impressed with her acting.
And Na Mun-hee!! Everyone's favorite grandmother is right.
Will look for Lost in the video shops, too.
