Kim Hyun-joo puts out an essay book

Actress Kim Hyun-joo (Partner) has come out with her own book, Hyun-joo’s Hand-Crafted Story, which was published on December 23 and for which she held a promotional event at Seoul’s Ritz Carlton Hotel. The book features Kim’s own needlework and knitting, as well as photos and personal essays. As a part of humanitarian NGO Good Neighbors’ “Good Buys” campaign, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to help the needy.

Kim had first taken up sewing and knitting as a hobby after making her acting debut, which grew into a deeper interest over the years. (The scarf she wears in one of the photos below is her own handiwork.) The book had hit bestseller status through pre-orders online before the book was even published, and is seeing strong response. (Most of these celebrity essay-photo collections tend to sell well, probably because they are an extension of the celebrity him/herself, serving much the same purpose as mini-homepages and fan cafes.)

I first noticed her in Glass Slipper 'cos she look almost exactly like my aunt. I didn't watch many of her projects since then. The second and also latest was BOF and must say, it was very disappointing watching her portraying my beloved character. I don't know how about other films of hers? Anyway, I give her my favour for her strong resemblance to my dear aunt :D At least, she's admirable for being able to do nice handiwork while I utterly can't (T_T)

I like this luminous beauty.

@ 1
She is wonderful in Partner tho the drama could have been better but so much time was wasted on showcasing Honey Lee.

@ isabella: you should watch "In-Soon is Pretty". She's awesome in it. and the drama itself is very good (at least as far as my taste in kdramas goes ^_^ )

@ Nikai, i hate to play a spoil spot but i got to be honest, i really did not like "In Soon is Pretty" at all, i was force to watch it since i bought the DVD and to top it all it was the first Korean drama that i watch. I like her in Partner though and she look pretty in Marrying a Millionaire, but ohhh Go Soo was so wasted.

i dropped Partner - i still do not know why cos it has my Wookie...

i hardly register her bof (totally blinded by LMH - my ICOMYM entry) but i totally absolutely love her in 'In-Soon is Pretty'.. too bad the drama doesn't get as much love as it deserves

@ niKai & emeldy

i believe 'In-soon is Pretty' is an acquired taste. either you like it or not...

reminds me of its thread in soompi, it has one of the best discussion ever (other than "Lee-wan is SOOO HOT" squeal from fangirls, LOL!!)

to date it's in my all time top 10 fav K-dramas but i'd never really recommend it to to other ppl

I thought she was awesome in BOF. She definitly had the look & attitude (not meant in a bad way!) And as a minor character her acting was good unlike a certain Korean barbie, hehe.

I always love her and the diversity of her roles.

In soon is pretty as well as Partner require some taste, it's not for popular audience.
I love "In soon" soompi thread, it's the best thread I've ever joined.

I agree, she was great as InSoon! She's a really talented actress!!
Though I like the fun, light-hearted dramas a lot, this was the first sort-of-melodrama I watched and liked. The subjects touched in the drama aren't for everyone, I thought it was a general critique of modern Korean society and the media. All of the characters were well acted and sincere. A little depressing, but it's worth checking out for something not involving a chaebol family.

i love kim hyun joo, she is so beautiful and such a great actress. altho, i think she and go soo were wasted in marrying a millionaire. love her black & white outfit in the above photos - cute without being tacky, but she managed to look elegant.

I first saw KHJ in Glass Slippers and to be honest, I liked her older sister (the character) better - yes my second lead syndrome started way back then - but I found her performance strong.

She's one of my more admired and loved actresses for her great chemistry with her co-stars. KHJ had amazing chemistry with LDW in Partners - considering there was a lack of kissing and skinship in the drama and they still managed to make it sizzling. Simply fantastic and admirable.

KHJ is certainly looking youthful. Love her hairdo! Does anybody think she looks like Hong Ah Reum (the young Insoon) in those photos?

Anyway she portrayed Insoon really well and the drama was a beautiful piece of art. It can be read like a book! That's how much I enjoyed the writing. While subtlety was its strength, it could have been a little too subtle for most audiences- I'd only managed to catch certain parts on a second viewing (with an increased understanding of Korean though ;) Characters grow (i.e. develop) through the course of the drama and are definitely not cookie cutter kdrama protagonists. Great stuff there :)

@AgentDarwin I'll have to disagree and say that the white pinafore's unique and fits KHJ well :P

I like her in Partner than in BOF. Her beauty are different with Honey Lee. She has a nature look in Partner.
