Jang Geun-seok buried in drama offers
by javabeans
(What an adorable picture. It’s like Jang Geun-seok’s softer personality with Hwang Tae-kyung’s sharper wardrobe, which is, if we must split things up between them, the better way to do it.)
In any case, it comes as no surprise that Jang Geun-seok, coming off his very popular role in the recently ended You’re Beautiful, is now being met with a landslide of job offers. (He’d already been approached for numerous CF offers while the drama was early in its run.) After heading to Japan last week for a recent fanmeeting, Jang is settling down to select his next project. He’s facing a happy dilemma as he looks over the scripts that came in while he was shooting the drama; currently, he is entertaining twenty different offers for movie and drama roles. His management said, “Starting while he was still filming, casting proposals have been pouring in. Synopses and scripts are piled on his desk like a small mountain. He hasn’t decided yet whether his next project will be a movie or a drama.”
You’re Beautiful‘s popularity didn’t necessarily shoot him to stardom, since Jang was already a well-known actor when he took the role — he has about a dozen other projects on his resumé — but I will say that it produced his most memorable character. The drama may not have had the highest ratings but it generated a lot of buzz, and firmly established his place as one of the most promising young actors of his generation, who commands name recognition and a solid domestic and overseas fanbase.

I saw this article earlier while googling JGS' name. Yes, amid the tons of work i have to do in the office i still found time to feed my addiction. But hey, everyone's entitled to have a break right? And so i was waiting for you to upload this and true enough, here it is.
I hope JGS chooses his next project wisely. But whatever that may be, i will be a firm supporter, along with everyone else here.
Cheers!

I'm totally going to save this picture! He is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot in this picture, love his eyes especially. He is one of those who can pull off with one big and one small eye lol. (At least this shows that he hasnt had plastic surgery)
Jang geun suk oppa, please choose a drama, and make sure its a SWOON-INDUCING HOT character like Hwang Tae Kyung! Don't go and pick a villain role okay! But of course, if you insist, i'm sure all the fans will still support you.
But please, choose another hot character!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"I think he really looks like Jo Insung more and more..don’t you think?"
Actually felt he looked more like JIS when much younger, and when he smiles. Kim Bum resembles JIS too. I think "looks like Jo In Sung" is kinda like the Korean equivalent of "looks like Nanako Matsushima" in Japan.
He's been dealing with Jo In Sung comparisons since Hwang Ji-ni (hello Ha Ji Won!!), and of course I've done that too.

Hmmm.... more crack! Gimme gimme gimme!!
Because of our dahling JGS i watched Murder in Itaewon over Weds/Thurs (to fill the YB void) and I'm not sure if I'm just being biased, but I have to say I thought it wasn't bad. It wasn't mind-blowing, but wasn't as bad as some of the reviews had made it out to be. And all is forgiven seeing JGS play a slightly off-center murder suspect in corn-rows (kyaaaa!!!) I even found myself able to ignore the very "odd" american accent.
Maybe the circumstances underpinning this case have come back to live because of its many similarities to the Meredith Kercher case that is currently ongoing. I thought the show did a good job of reminding us of the many conflicts that still exist between what we believe to be universal human values and the criminal justice system; fairness is a matter of perspective and we can only do the best we can within a flawed system.
*SPOILER* I felt sorry for the victim's family; the indescribable anguish one must feel in losing a child. This sorrow was cruelly compounded by the fact that even though it was universally acknowledged and all evidence pointed to the killer being one of the two suspects, in the end no one was held accountable. No one had to answer for the murder of their only son and justice was never meted out. But it couldn't have been any other way. The prosecution could only charge one of the two for first degree murder (talk about 50/50 chance). The defendent had the right to appeal. The supreme court could overturn the verdict on the grounds of reasonable doubt. A suspect acquitted by the supreme court can never be tried for the same crime again. The 15 year statute of limitation cannot be revoked. For these are the pillars of our criminal justice system and although in this instance they seem to be grossly unfair, these laws are the best we have, providing the framework of consistency and legality in which we abide, taking comfort in the knowledge that these laws are what protects us from the vagaries and injustices a lawless society could buffet our way. So long as we believe in giving the defendent the benefit of the doubt, so long as we believe that they are innocent until proven guilty, these laws would have to continue to stand.
So i guess i have to say that I did kinda like it.... yay for JGS!!

I've watched all the dramas JGS had participated as they aired or shortly after airing. I must confess I didn't watch those projects because JGS was in it, but rather due to other actors and storyline.
In fact, there were times in Hong Gil dong, when I fast forwarded his scenes simply because I didn't find his acting as strong as his counterparts.
In Hwang Jini, he looked too young.
Beethoven Virus had me intrigued. KMM was excellent, but I felt JGS held his own.
I started watching You're beautiful for two reasons: (a) I wanted to know how JGS will be like in such a role, (b) dramabeans said it should be a good watch.
You're beautiful caught me off guard. In a pleasant sort of way. JGS had me floored. His acting had improved 100%.
People already knew that he was good looking and could do a variety of things. After YAB, I think the industry is looking a second look at JGS, the actor. It is precisely the recognition he sought and deservingly so.
I'm not anxiously awaiting his next project. I strongly believe that he will not be disappointing. He has enough arsenal to ensure that he will pull off a project, regardless of what the acting demands are.

@bobacha
Thanks for posting the link. Those videos are very interesting.
I have been watching JGS' videos on youtube recently.
I noticed that JGS has really good relationship with the casts for all his dramas which he participated. And the lead actor of "Happy Life" and " Murder in Itaewon" really liked JGS a lot and respected JGS as an actor even though he is JGS' senior. I think JGS must be a hardworking and talented actor. And he earned the respect and love from his seniors and directors.
He seems to be a popular MC as well. I watched his MC role in some of the music programs. He is so young and energetic. He is really multi-talented and is born to be an entertainer.
JGS' smile is really lovely. After seeing his smile, I would be in a good mood for a while. Also love hearing his voice.......
Wish him all the best. I will patiently wait for his next drama/movie.
@ Javabean
Thanks JB for posting JGS' news to fill our emptiness after YB finished. I wonder who you like the best - Jang Geng Suk, Lee Min Ho and Jung II Woo. You seemed to like all three of them.

BWT, I don't know if you guys know this, but on soompi, cecilia posted on how you can preorder a special fan only Director's cut of YAB. The preordering period starts Dec. 4 and goes until Jan. 5. After this period, they will no longer take preorders and you won't be able to get your hand on this special DC's DVD. She also confirmed that there will definitely be English subtitles. I'm not sure about the region code though, but most likely it'll be region free since this is a special dvd for international fans as well as fans in Korea. Even though it's $120, I'm definitely preordering one. We have to pay through credit card, since we are not from Korea and they charge you right there because they need to know exactly how many dvds to produce. here's the website to go preorder. It's in Chinese, but you can manage your way through it.
People residing in other countries
http://shop.innolife.com/shop/list.php?ac_...amp;ai_id=13502
Many people on Soompi has already preordered. It's reliable, if you were wondering. I'm going to transfer money to my bank account and order one for myself. The DVD should be released some time in Feb.
Again the preorder date is from December 4, 2009- January 5, 2010.

Excellent news! I thought he did a great job in YAB (he was certainly the main, if not the only, reason I kept watching the series to the end). I love the irresistible asymmetry upon which his charisma feeds: on the one hand, the fragile boyish body and face , and on the other, the deep manly voice. That for me puts him ahead of the BBF bunch. I hope he picks a provocative and thought provoking part from that pile on his desk; something to stretch both his own acting and the imagination of his fans.

That is a very nice picture of JGS. I am very happy for his post-YAB success. I do feel like the men (JGS and JYH) of YAB have been highlighted quite a bit recently, but feel that there is a lack of news about PSH. She held her own in the drama and made me a big fan of hers through her portrayal of GMN.

Hi, you were kind enough to post this link to the Chinese site that's taking preorders for the fans-only Director's Cut dvd set of You're Beautiful:
http://shop.innolife.com/shop/list.php?ac_id=26&ai_id=13502
Do you(or anyone here) happen to know if this site will be the only source for this special, limited offer dvd set? And, do you happen to know what extras(deleted scenes, bloopers, "making of", bts footage, etc.) will only be available in this set? I'm just curious, because at $120 USD it's going to be considerably more expensive than the standard dvd set is going to be(I'm guessing around $75-$80 USD). I don't mind spending the $120 for it(I'm already into this drama for both OSTs and the Pig-Rabbit), but would like to know what the additional cost will include.
Thanks very much in advance, and thanks for providing the link!

How cute he is in the photo....and clearly he didn't dress himself. What has become abundantly clear is that even though he has fantastic talent and is a very good thoughtful actor, he has no fashion sense what so ever. Cos when he does dress himself, fur and shoulder pads make an appearance. Oh well you can't have everything.
Looking forward to what he does next!

From what Cecilia said at soompi (http://www.soompi.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=308926&st=11960), it seems innolife is the only source for the d-cut DVD for overseas fans. I saw some d-cut DVD of other series in Yes Asia, but usually it takes longer and more expensive.
This is what she said:
"The preorder version of the Director's cut DVD will be ONLY available via innolife which only takes credit card payment from overseas residents. The preorder version includes: 16 episodes, cut out scenes and BTS, + photobook. If you choose to purchase the dvd after the preorder period, the version available will be DIFFERENT to the preorder version with less BTS and cuts. As to what exactly is going into the dvd (ie what vids/interviews etc), it has not been totally confirmed yet and the production team are taking ideas/suggestions. Please see below"
And so far the only confirmation of the deleted scene that makes it to the d-cut DVD is the elevator kiss scene in ep 14... ^^ ---> enough for me to run to innolife and ordered mine... lolz...

shiro401#89, and sweetaddiction#92 & #93,
Hi, and thank you very, very much for the information! Much appreciated!
Deleted elevator kissing scene from episode 14? I would like to see that. =)
I also read that there was a lot of good stuff deleted from final episode 16, due to time constraints...especially stuff from the concert footage. I'd love to see that included in the director's cut, too.
Thanks, again, guys! =)
I'm really glad to see that movie and drama offers are piling high for JGS. He richly deserves it, with his strong acting skills and great sense of timing. He has more charisma than anyone has a right to possess, and a really nice singing voice to boot! If a singing coach could help him overcome his occasional pitch problem, he'd be darn near perfect!

YB is the first JGS drama I watched, and it's turned me into a firm fan of his. He definitely deserves all this recognition!
Looking back on his past projects, I like how they're all pretty different from one another. I especially like that he took on the role in Itaewon Homicide; he's not fluent in English and having to learn the lines could not have been an easy job. I respect him for that, he's shown he can rise to a challenge! So I have firm faith that whatever he picks next will surprise us all!
As for feeding my addiction...at least I'll get to watch JGS MC at the Melon Music Awards! That'll keep me satisfied until he announces his next project :D I have no doubt that he'll be appearing in CFs as well.

I think you are being too much, way too sarcastic, and it is not really funny.. Well maybe because I can't really appreciate your sense of humour.
Try being the eldest in the cast, despite all the late night filming, hard work put in, and only getting two hours of sleep everyday, all you get is single-digit ratings, how will YOU think?!
And so what if projects are pouring in, of course you will focus on what you are doing right now.
