JB, this post has made my entire day! Thank you so much. If it wasn't for your amazing blog, I would have never encountered Tamra through your early recaps and the great word-of-mouth from the Islanders.

This is a wonderful drama, so full of heart and amazing performances from its young and up-and-coming cast. I have my wad of cash ready to plunk down and buy this baby! 21 episodes, it's more than I expected, this made me even happier than watching YB episode 11 today. ;-)

This is wonderful news! I loved Tamra although I never finished it after it got cut, I did not want to 'destroy' the original story. Soon I will finally be able to watch it!

Hmm...they displeased the fans by cutting the series short and now they're going to make them pay to watch it? I guess that's good marketing strategy.

Do those DVD's have english subs ?

That depends from where you get the dvds. Several official boxsets, particularly those released for the US market, DO have English subs and the quality is pretty good. Just be careful cos there are some dodgy websites that might sell pirated dvds with awful subs.

I suggest you check http://www.yesasia.com http://www.dvdasian.com or, say, Amazon.com for legit dvds (if you buy at yesasia, they usually have several boxsets of the same drama, released for different markets. Carefully read the info about each set for many versions might not have Eng subs. It's all written there though). You can find MBC's official dvds for the US market at http://www.mbcdvd.com. Oh and http://hanbooks.com/ sells dvds as well, but I've only bought books from them

Another thing you might want to check carefully. The dvds region.

I read some of the articles on the DVD production, I searched through some of the likely online stores looking for whether the Director's Cut will have english subs, but I wasn't able to find whether it will or not.

However, there are a few things to note:

1. It is very likely that English subs will be included.

2. It is very unlikely that you will be able to find the Director's Cut DVD set with a north american region code (Region 1). So, if you do go out and get this, make sure you have a DVD that is region-free or at least plays Region 3 (for Korea) DVDs.

This is very good news!! I only watched the first few episodes of Tamra and meant to continue when there were more subs available, then the whole slaughter happened and I decided to wait for the DVDs. Sounds like they had a lot of good material since it amounted to more than the original 20 episodes! Can't wait!

I have to say 2009 has been a much better year for kdrama than 2008. There are a few real gems from this year; Return of Iljimae, Story of a Man, You're Beautiful and City Hall (which I am watching right now). I am also enjoying Iris (but have to admit it's entirely because of LBH ^_^).

The 21 episode dvd this article talks about is the director's cut version (R-3, no English subtitle) for people who've prepaid for the DVD. I'm not sure if the same director's cut dvd will go out in the market for purchase at the same time this dvd comes out, but I'm sure it will be available in the market eventually.

As for the US version DVD with English subtitle, someone from Soompi thread emailed YA Entertainment and received an email back from them stating that they have contracted with Group Eight to produce Tamra dvd and they were discussing the details at the time. According to the email, the US version DVD will be released sometime in March and it didn't state how many episodes the dvd would have. I suggest contacting them for further details.

Even if i have to watch without subs! I am happy!

I watched this drama without much expectation and was surprised in a good way. GREAT acting and superb cinematography.

Hope I'd be able to watch the complete 21 episodes.

Team Park Kyu is open enrollment, baby! I just joined last week, better late than never, I say.

No rules: but the dream come true of Team Park Kyu members would be if we can do a Team Park Kyu Group Hug!!! (hi simplesim-moni), with Im Joo-hwan sandwiched between us members.

Oh, and I'm remiss if I don't send kudos to Seo Woo for her fantastic portrayal of Beo-jin. It's not her fault that Beo-jin is.....well, Beo-jin. But she conveyed that all Beo-jin-ness completely, she owned it.

Oh no!!! No english subs for December launch?? Although the anticipation is killing me, but without subs i cannot fully appreciate this awesome drama, i NEED to understand every single conversation they have. I guess i have to constraint myself a little longer to buy it, waiting for the english subs. Oh the torture!!!! :( T_T I hope some kind soul in viikii would help me with this. They said they want to sub the uncut version too if the videos are available. I just hope the subbers not too busy with other project when it comes.... :(

I will set sail soon to Tamra.... While waiting for the new YB episode, I got some JGS fix by watching the movie Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do. The movie is so so but, you know what, Im Joo-hwan almost stole the show in his supporting role!

Woo hoo, so excited you're gonna journey to Tamra (its akin to our stay in Inju, but satisfying on a completely different level).

Team Park Kyu: I know we probably would all love 5 deleted episodes worth of material which includes only PK moments (well, I know I do), but realizing that its probably not going to happen. So, I hope for the following instead:

1. More moments of PK's mom, dad and little sis - I adore the family unit.
2. More moments of Geut-boon, PK's rival in diving and love (tee hee, in her mind only, of course).
3 I want the final 2 episodes, at least, to be all set in Tamra.
4. Lastly, I want a freakin proposal and wedding!!!

I think the money from the sales of the DVD not went to MBC pocket. But it goes to the production house who made this wonderful drama. The only money MBC had is only came from the ads when it`s on air. That`s why rating is such a big deal for them. So i hope the selling is really good so that MBC can regret the decision they made...

I just love this drama. Its fantastic. I dont know why they cut it down to 16.Its the best dtama I watched sinc the Gong!. Scenery is great and acting skills apart for William are very good. please let us know when we can watch the 21 part series.

Hi, I looked everywhere for the 21 episode dvd set, but can't find them anywhere, even the popular asian sites . I even checked YesAsia, the official MBC site, and even Amazon. NADA! Where is it??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to order it now~! ;o; Please anyone who has ordered it already (with ENG/subs), please direct me to where I can get it right now.
