Chinese fans show support for You’re Beautiful
by javabeans
Chinese fans have come together to show their support for the You’re Beautiful cast and crew by supplying the 100-plus staffers with a buffet meal, candy, and coffee, which was delivered to the set of A.N.JELL’s fictional management company on November 15.
Korean fan-club members had supplied a buffet lunch earlier this month; this gesture was organized by Jang Geun-seok‘s official Chinese fan club (http://www.keunsukchina.com/). It was attended by Chinese students studying in Korea, as well as some fans who flew to Korea to participate specifically in the event. Jang hasn’t been active in promoting his career in China, but has amassed fans there with his television roles from Nonstop 4, Hwang Jini, and Hong Gil Dong.
The fan fervor for You’re Beautiful is pretty remarkable, particularly in proportion to its viewership ratings; even for a mania drama, the fans have been very outspoken about their support for the trendy romantic-comedy series. It has an especially strong online presence, regularly beating higher-ranked shows like IRIS or Queen Seon-deok in website pageviews and forum discussions.
Jang Geun-seok said, “As a Korean, I felt proud to see fans in China taking an interest in Korean culture, learning the Korean language in China, or even coming all the way here to study Korean. I’m deeply touched to see them come to cheer me on so passionately. Both my overseas and Korean fans are like valuable family members to me. On behalf of them, I’ll work harder to mature and always put forth my best effort.”

Dont kill me for this I have been a fan of his for a long time, but he is starting to give me the homo vibes. I see it in his movements and interactions with other actors.
Sorry.

PS Forgot to say the most important thing: Chinese fans of YB fighting! :) Good job being so dedicated and helping us foreign fans express our love and affection and complete support to this show!
真谢谢你们的努力!加油!
PPS I'm all for sending flowers! :) Give me a website, and let me know how I can help! I think it'll be lovely for all of them to get bunches of flowers from fans from far, far away ... and even my therapist would agree flowers are okay! :)
PPPS Please don't tell me you girls are in a school starting with an "R" because that would be make me your super-sun-bae (think 3 times your age), and that would make me feel old...
... oh yeah, I already feel old....
... what?! Hong-ki is only a little over half my age?!...
... JHJ is _how_ old?!.
... THERAPY please!
(Alright, alright, I give up, bring it on girls! I'll roll with the blows I guess! :) )

I agree with you JGS needs to eat more.... he is way too skinny but I still love him....I read somewhere that he had to drop about 6-7kilos for YAB...I was watching Beethoven Virus and he looked great there...some muscles....but I guess since the filming is intesense the cast doesn't have much time to eat proper meals or get some sleep for that matter........Chinese fans thank you for bringing so much food for our TK/JGS.....the whole cast and crew deserve it.....
By the way I read in Soompi that the actor who plays the President post a comment in YAB official website and he metion something about YAB 2......omg that will be so cool......

@101 Jo
Lol I know what you mean but I actually get that vibe with most male Korean celebrities when watching their bts and other things. At first glance we may think it's homo-like but I believe it's just how the culture is. The guys in Korea are secure enough with their image to openly express male affection/bromance as opposed to most Westerners who would immediately jump to the conclusion that they must be in the closet lol.

just wanna share this.. (this was what happened during the event.. JGS's is so nice and approachable to his fans..
A quick summary (translation)
JGS did not know about this visit and they actually wanted to give him a big surprise. The sister (should be the coordinator) told them that JGS kept doubting his performance because he didn't have time to watch the news. The purpose of this visit is to give him confidence and affirmation. The result was fantastic and JGS was so happy that he went to show off to everyone. The most important thing that touched the fans was JGS chatting with them just like friends, asking about Chinese language and about China. The moment was so touching that she felt like crying because JGS is like any of us, a normal person who worry about performance, curious about other countries. He was very serious about learning how to pronounce Mandarin properly that was really cute. She felt that the love and warmth from the China fans let JGS lower down his defense and behaved like a normal child, smiling happily. They heard from the sister that JGS had been under tremendous pressure from filming that he did not smile so happily for a long time. Actually stars (idols) are like normal people as well, although they live glamorously and are eye-catching, only they themselves know the hardships. The only things that fans can do is to provide a channel for him to relieve stress, let him smile without worry, able to enjoy the lives of normal 20+ youngsters. The fans managed to succeed making him smile like a boy and it is super touching!
JGS was really appreciative and ate a lot, he had about five plates from the buffet while constantly praising the food was tasty till the fans felt he wanted to eat the plate as well. The CK watch and xxx brand scarf made him so surprised that he opened his eyes really wide and he really liked it a lot. He even snatched the gloves meant for the assistant. The fans are all speechless. He was really polite when the fans handed him the coffee (should be maxim coffee) and he instantly stuffed it inside the manager pocket. Poor manager, the coffee is actually chilled.
There is another follow up post (credits to jianfenvip) that mentioned about them teaching JGS how to pronounce their own names and they had a great time laughing on one of the names because it sound really funny. They also taught them a few things about dumplings. When the manager kept asking who is the most popular Korea star in China, the fans kept saying it is JGS till the manager gave up asking. They chatted about a lot of stuff and the thing that left the deepest impression was JGS carefree laughter.

@ 100 and earlier : ha! Helpful mantras, indeed. Yes, legal, but morally off-limits (age gap just too freaky to contemplate). PSH -- I think she's more attractive playing the not-very-successful boy. As a 'girl' she's pretty but not terribly distinctive. As GMN, she's very charismatic. She is still a girl, she is still a girl.

I just re-watch earlier episodes of you're beautiful cos, I’m sad like that and keeps me sane (or crazy depends on how you look at it) until the next episodes. He is extremely talented actor - I'm just really impressed with his performance in the series (watching the scene in the bathroom when he remembering the first time he ate shrimp in front of his mother....just heartbreaking really). Little nervous about watching his earlier stuff - just in case it doesn’t live up to expectations.
Talking of re-watching earlier episodes is me or is the President HOOOOTT? He's really doing it for me. Just like Jang Geun-seok is making me appreciate man-mascara, the President is making me consider colourful scarf’s masquerading as ties....hhhmmm (but only for half a second) Anyway there are some seriously beautiful people in this drama!
@111 shout out from London, England - He's reaching people from all over the world!
Only 3 more days until the next episode.....WOOO HOOOO

@ 6 yes i tell my self that, but then my brain says hot and legal!!!! And i forget what i was thinking before the hot and legal. I have a 9 yr difference with JGS and i melt each time i see the drama and hear his voice.
I will miss when the drama ends reading, sharing and laughing at the comments! The first step of an addiction is to realize you have a problem. Ok im done with step one, and i have 2 weeks to figure out the rest of the steps as i go on withdrawal.
This drama has united fans all over the world. I hope the cast can understand that maybe the ratings arent that amazing; But its more powerful to join people that speak differents languages , cultures and races. I feel very proud that i can be in my computer in Puerto Rico ( small island in the caribbean), and see how people in usa, france, spain, mexico and germany share my addiction. I hope when they saw the emails from the proyect, they realize the all the joy the drama has brought around the world . I think it was a great idea, i thank all involved in the proyect!! From the pictures you can see it was done with love an dedication.
I also love to see my flag on the wall of the dance studio where they rehearse. JGS stole the drama and my heart!! I dont know how im going to cope with the withdrawal symptoms ;) !!!

Is step 2 to join a YAB Addict Anonymous group? Maybe some of us will have to form some kind of support group to help in the "healing," recovering process. I guess one step for me will be to change my screen name...
but I too will miss the phenomenon this drama created...of course, there will be other ones, but it may take a while...and, there is always JGS's next project to look forward to! Maybe I'll just change my name to JGSaddict...Oh, I'm too old for this, what am I doing here? Where is Kang Ji Hwan's fan club, it will be more appropriate there...

I think we need sugestions to create the YAB Addict anonymous group!!!
# 1 admit that you have a problem
#2 If you feel any withdrawal symptom run to the nearest computer, look for viikii, my soju.
#3 Only try to see half of the episode. The idea is slowly tappering down the needed requirements of episodes. until you can spend one day without searching any YAB information
Please i need suggestions , because i know its going to be a difficult withdrawal!!

As most everyone has commented, JGS's voice is just amazing and capturing. It's really because of this song and this performance that I started and got addicted to this show and JGS! He is a great performer!

i think sbs should make serious effort streaming real-time for oversea audience. Imagine the % of rating missed - surely it surpasses IRIS with huge fan base all over the world. Also attempt on their website too. At least more global outlook. Really dismayed to discover English and Korean version vast different. Korean is no 1 in broadband race - can't they do better than that?

@127, 126 and et al...Nice to know so many of us haunt the same sites. Anyway, I did the same with Korean classes here, but they're excruciatingly expensive, so I've given up and just gone with the whole "I'll pick it up along with the drama!" flow. Classes are overrated (only because I can't afford them).
Don't know about Channel U bringing in YAB, and although I wish Mediacorp had enough clout to make A.N.Jell appear here in person, I don't think it'll be happening (especially not when not even the SM artists visit Singapore!), but let's hope. I'll chip in a word or two if someone sets a project up.
By the way, anyone keen on doing something for the end of the drama series since there's only 4 more episodes to go? We should let them go out with a big bang or something. I've loved all the laughter theyve brought to me so far.
(And yes @33 - THANK YOU for your mantra! It really made my day LOL since I can now safely continue thinking about JGS all the time LOL)

Thank you JB for this post.
I'm listening to Good-Bye now and I love JGS' voice. Ok, so I'm in that too old for him bracket but he's just too cute.
@ YABaddict
I think you mentioned that maybe TK remade this song as a good-bye to his mum and MN's parents. I think it's possible. The last part where he says "An Yeung" reminds me of the "Insa" song from 'A Millionaire's First Love' where it ends tragically with Hyun Bin saying good-bye to the girl he loves. In that song, if I'm not mistaken, it also ends with "An Yeung".
For those of you in Singapore and interested in learning Korean, why not learn it yourself? If you speak and read Chinese, the Korean language is not so difficult. It has many similar words. It's even easier because it's alphabet is so much less complicated than the Chinese characters. I'm Chinese (from Malaysia but now live in Hawaii) and bought a text book and taught myself the Korean alphabet. I can read but of course, far from understanding everything - I've just started a couple months ago and this YB drama is taking up all my free time...sigh...Anyways, try it out. It beats spending lots of monies on formal classroom learning.

@131 Well they're not broadcasting IRIS on the local channels, but I know it's on KBS World (which is, I believe, a free channel?...Well I think I've got it free anyway), so it's too late haha. IRIS isn't bad anyway, just a bit overrated imo; I much prefer dramas like YAB since they're more refreshing...
@133 LOL I think the Korean alphabet is too complicated because my brain is now too used to processing pictorial characters (as opposed to ...circles and straight lines...) but I agree about the similarity. It's not that hard to understand Korean if you really focus since a lot of the words sound similar to Chinese.

@133 yvhsien:
Thanks loads for your advice. I always thought it's hard to learn Korean coz the characters in the alphabet look so similar! o_O I'm rather strong in the Chinese language, so hopefully it'll make it easier for me to learn Korean (what a naive thought haha)... Will head over to Kinokuniya to pick up a textbook soon.

I think they'll bring YB to Sg eventually, but as to when... Maybe if the fans lobby enough for a show, that would work? I'm not sure how the local stations work.
So far the show has been having nice twists and good acting, but I'm afraid that it will venture into cliche territory in the last few eps. Hope the cast and crew can keep going. Fingers crossed!
