You may have seen this video, here he is live, he is indeed off here and there, but overall it's a nice performance, being an actor he has great stage presence! I love his reaction at the end (I think he is aware of his weak points, but so uninhibited, love him!)...

The thought never crossed my completely empty brain. *shrugs shoulders and continues to lead sap of a second female lead on for at least 3 more episodes. Viewer, please don't rip out your hair as I continue to miss obvious signs about how the main female lead likes me.*

Male Lead in Random Korean Drama (Nitwit): Yeah... I know she likes me, but I'm not sure if I like her and her spunky independence or the clingy woman who has sunk her claws so far into me that I might never be able to get them out. I'm going to need to vacillate, making you, the watcher want to absolutely punch my face in for about six episodes. Don't worry. I'll figure out my feelings soon. But even though you won't be satisfied with what I do with them.

TK: She gave me 100%. How do I keep that? Why do I care? Let me write a song and maybe that will tell me... Wait. I don't need a song. I like her - my pig-rabbit - and I must tell her. (Even if I will bitterly run away from her when I find out that she's known my mom and deceived me all this time...) *The viewers all rejoice at his clear understanding of the situation and willingness to do something about it!!!*

Why can't more Male Leads be written like TK??? Not all, just more. Written with... you know... a clue.

Korea dramas' OST are all nicely produced. I enjoyed all the songs of YB. It would be lovely to see TK, Jeremy, SW and MN singing those songs in a concert. Thanks to JB. I can have his "Without Words" for my ringtone.

Although I like YB a lot, I think it is better to let the actors/actress to move on to new projects. Season 2 would usually be a disappointment because expectation would be too high to beat.

JGS is a diligent actor. I am hoping to see his new movie/drama soon. While I am waiting for his new production, let me rewatch YB, Hwang Jin Yi, Beethoven Virus, Baby and I, Doremifaso.......again and again lah. I love his face, voice and acting.

I feel sad that this drama will end next week theres no Season 2 JGS said that its too cold to shoot for Season 2...I think the main reason that theres no Season 2 is the low ratings which i do'nt understand...I asked myself is it JGS thats why the rating is low is he not a Noona Killer like Lee Seunngi hehehe........

I really think that YB is way better than BOF the best thing about BOF is the two guys Minho and HJ and the expensive things around but the story is boring and very predictable.........

I don’t think that Jang Geun Seok is the reason why the rating is low. On the contrary, I think he is one of the reasons it is such a “hit” on the internet. I am sure you’ll agree that he gave an outstanding and memorable portrayal of Hwang Tae Kyung. Much as I like Lee Min Ho a lot, I believe that Jang Geun Seok will be able to rock the role of Goo Jun Pyo. However, I doubt Min Ho will do as well in the role of Hwang Tae Kyung, not because Min Ho is a bad actor, but he does not look the part of a boy band leader.

There are many reasons why a drama has low rating, for example, timing, competition, promotion strategies, etc. Even the feeling of a collective group of people may have effect e.g. during an economic downturn when people’s mood is down, a light hearted drama bringing on some cheer and laughter may be a winner over a melodrama. I don’t know exactly why You’re Beautiful has low rating in Korea given that it has so many pluses in terms of superb script, competent direction and outstanding cast but it is definitely not because of JGS.

i think the pacing is quite fast. i agree with the one who commented that an additional two eps would wrap up the series beautifully.

however, a season 2 doesn't seem like such a bad idea. there are still a wealth of subplots (i.e. the real go mi nam, showbiz and how it affects htk and go min nyeo's relationship, etc, how A.N.JELL further its wings). the material is rich as it is, so i'm sure the hong sisters can carry a season 2 (they are very creative). might not be as great as the conflicts of season 1, but still gonna be good.

@ Carrie LOL @ the whole "get a clue, guys!" which is completely true. A lot of times I lose interest in kdramas when the male leads aren't scripted to "understand" fast enough, mostly because I'm always like, well, how much more obvious can it get, you dolt?! Stop making her cry! (And also I get irritated when women cry too much, because I'm just like, GET OVER IT, he's not worth the tears, MOVE ON! but that could just be me being heartless.) So YAY for TK! And MN! They're perfect!

I do think everything can be resolved in 2 episodes, personally, though it won't be easy (like Nom-Kitteh says, TK's trust in MN has been broken, which is a major issue since the boy has always had major trust problems, and MN needs to learn how to fix that fast, preferably within ONE episode, so we can all have Ep 16 sweet sweet sweet).

Sigh, it's at times like this, with the free mini concert, that I wish I lived in Korea (and could understand the language)! But nevermind, JGS and the rest of the ANJell "band", I'm sure you all understand how much we love you all the way from...the various places that we are! :)

Let's see:
BOF popularity is really huge even 1 year before the show. BOF was based on a super famous Japanese Manga that spreaded throught Asia and even Asian American community just like a big Storm . I never read a manga in my life, but for 10 years I have heard many many times people around me have been talking about it so that I had to check out the Japanese Drama version of this manga 1 year ago.

I was in Soompi in May, June 2008, the thread of BOF discussion about who would be in it, and within 5 days, it grew to 70 pages total. And this was just a prediction who actors would be fit for BOF role discussion only.
2 months before When the show BOF just about to started. Every BOF thread on internet I visited (about 12 websites I visited at that time) created a stardorm hot hot hot topics . It seem like everyone talked about it.

About YAH:
It was about a boy band idol life. Since the Hong sisters anouncement of this drama script in May 2009, many people around me said it is boring when talking about idols behind the scene life. They rather watch variety shows about boy and girl bands instead. Every website I visited, just 2, 3 people paid attention to YAH drama only.
Also, the production team of YAH drama paid very little attention to promote the drama although it is Hong' sisters' drama script.
Many websites I visited didnot even know when YAH started. So no one talked about it.
The stardorm of YAH just started through the words of mouth from people who watched the first few episodes only.
Many people did not know it was good from the start.

So you cannot blame all of the false of low ratings of YAH to only JGS .

Yes you are right that JGS fits TK really well and Minho might not be as good as he plays TK .I was just really expecting bec. the drama is so good the ratings would be in 30's so Im really puzzled why is it so low i would accept if the ratings is at least on 15 but 10 is bad......I think this is the first that a drama is popular but the ratings sucks........I don't think timeslot is the reason Seriously...Well the this question I will rest and just accept that the drama will end this week and just enjoy it............

Personally I like JGS for the role of TK and totally love YB vs. BOF... I never watch the full episode of BOF just because,,, I think most of the people will agree to me that BOF really is not as good as YB storywise........

Mostly demographics. The kids are watching this show in droves, but they're watching online, on their phones, or during the rerun broadcasts. (In Korea, the mom is truly the queen of the remote. Japan is almost the opposite of that. There, the TV is perceived as domain of the kids.) That doesn't show up on the primetime rating metrics, but stations will also gauge other metrics like the rerun numbers, the portal hits, and general media buzz. Compared with other youth dramas, the fact that YB draws double-digit numbers makes it a qualified success. The show is a big win for advertiser Etude House. Both BOF and Shining Inheritance drew huge ratings due to crossover appeal.

The States are really not all that different. Youth dramas rarely perform THAT well in the ratings, but they often garner the media buzz, because they target the coveted 16-25 demo. In addition, luxury cable dramas are often viewed as being more culturally influential, even though the true viewership is generally very, very small.

YB will have a more interesting commercial life as a Hallyu property. When this show officially goes over to Taiwan, Mainland and the Phillippines, then you can really guage the popularity of the show.

Excellent summary; there aren't really so many plot lines to resolve still... I would rather have a "special" than another season, but I do feel the need for something more. Well, maybe I'll feel differently if the last two episodes are truly satisfying. I would prefer that TK didn't sulk ALL the way through 15 though; more time with both TK and MNyeo on the same side (maybe vs MNam?) would be more fun.

@ iwasing. In my opinion, the time slot is a big issue. As belleza (#81) has indicated, the mom is truly the queen of the remote in Korea - no doubt that IRIS is more attractive to them. As for their kids, they rather watch it online. I heard that Queen of housewives is confirmed to have a season 2 next year. YAB could possibly have a season 2 next year as well. I know that some of you have worried about part 2 won't be as good as part 1. Hey, I don't mind to see TK, Minnam, Shinwoo and Jeremy again or doesn't have to be 16 eps even 8 or 10, I will be happy. I wish I can be in their concert!

Oh how I wish there would be a season 2 to YAB. There are still so many subplots to explore....I think it won't be too boring if the Hong sisters continue to churn out ideas. We should do a petition to urge them to do the 2nd season!

Well, though it's a pity that YB is so under-appreciated, it's really not all that rare that the good stuff in life slides by unnoticed. Vangogh died without achieving any fame right?

I think with all the overseas fan support these past few weeks, the YB cast is slowly becoming aware that the awesomeness of the show is truly appreciated in other parts of the world. I'm proud of all of us. I think our silent support for them was not in vain ^^

it will definitely be interesting if this one has a season two. however, if the ending is already solid and conclusive, i dunno what they are going to do for the second season.

I too have seen the live clip of JGS singing and his voice is very sweet but lacks power and he struggled a little with key.

Of course in a studio that doesn’t matter as much, so we can get enjoy the full, smooth, crooning quality in JGS’s voice- and here I think JGS being an actor helps.. he can act with his voice as well… 9th street folks are the pro voices, but to bring out the dramatic tension in the song? I vote for JGS’s or PSH’s version every time! 

Now they just have to have a JGS/PSH duet for Without a Word to _really_ get us fangirls crying in the aisles

Worth noting . .. Jang Geon Suk grew up a LURAKU FAN (L'Arc en Ciel for the non-fans.) That's right -- JGS learned how to sing by singing along to Hyde.

Seriously. If you listen to JGS's live performances and imagine Hyde singing them, you can actually hear the influence. His tone is more like Gackt, minus the vibrato.

Any koreans here? It will be very much appreciated if whoever went for this concert give a quick update on it!

Mini concert...Being in Korea right now will be really really lucky. I want to be in Korea just to watch A.N.JELL. perform live. Gosh...God knows how much i'll miss YAB.
I will miss Tae kyung's angry young man looks, Go minam's innocence, Shin woo's gentleness, Jeremy's goofyness, manager, even heyi's evilness (though she gets on my last nerve most of the time), but I WILL MISS THEM A LOT.
And about season 2, i believe sometimes somethings are better left like it is. YAB's story line is perfect in itself that if they take it to season2 than perhaps the magic, the beauty of this drama will be lost. BUt they can extend the episodes to 20 instead of making season 2 (that's if the rumor is true about making season 2).
I wonder what will be the story line of season 2, perhaps this time, they would focus more on Jeremy and Go minam ( the real Go minam) and their forbidden love story...hahhaha...that would be interesting...(The cast remains the same in the season 2 too. without them YAB won't be YAB).
