I wish this drama aired a month later than it started so I could be in Korea when all these events are happening. I hope there's still something when I spend the winter holiday there next month.
A lot of dramas say there's a season 2 but I haven't really seen anything with a second season (with the same cast and everything). I think only the Hana Yori Dango series in Japan did that.
I want to see TOP and Jang Geun Seok battle it out for a girl. Someone else than Park Shin Hye. Maybe the girl from 24 months of waiting (the one who's in a band). I can't think of her name right now.

I really hope there's a season 2!!! It can't end at 16 episodes!!! ><

On the other hand, they really don't give much notice, do they? An addition to the script, I imagine, and mini-concert three days before the last episode will air? Insane.

Aha. I have been thinking for a while "hey, there's no more concert footage! The boy band premise was just an excuse, eh?" it's nice to hear that they are going back to their roots, as it were.

My guess is that the "real" MN will be performing. I stick to my prediction that they aren't going to throw in a whole new dynamic at this point, and that his appearance will not shift the plot too much. A concert performance will be a nice opportunity to give PSH air-time as the brother without getting too tangled up in the plot, and round off the story.

In terms of a season 2: Sequels usually screw everything up so I'm not sure if that'd be a good thing (if they are seriously considering it). If they extended the series two more episodes or whatever, that'd be awesome. But alas...we should just let a good thing stay good.

This is great. I was actually thinking when would their next concert be in the series. My sister and I are both watching this drama, and she's been asking me if they're really an idol group or not, as they're not really performing much in the series (or not doing practices).

And I think this series does not need a second season, seeing as how things go; but then again, I still haven't fully seen the last episode to completely say that this does not need a 2nd one. I just thought of Soulmate, when I realized that there might not be a second season as this was shown in MBC and knowing them, they wouldn't really waste their time doing a second season of Soulmate when it received poor ratings for a trial (if I'm not mistaken, that this was just a sample).

Season 2 would be nice. Two episode to wrap up everything, it's kind of rush! I am not sure how can Hong's sisters handle it? I am thinking we should all get togther and send our requests/wishes (YAB SEASON 2) to SBS and hopefully the producer will hear our voice. I really do not want it to end. I love the drama so much and I don't care about the rating. I bet the drama will do well oversea. Maybe SBS can consider a YAB movie just like HYD for next Spring? It will be nice! Don't you agree?

I don't know how I feel about a 2nd season. I suppose it depends on how neatly they wrap up the storyline in the last episode. I'm usually against 2nd seasons for kdramas. However, it might be interesting to do a season that now became Shin-woo centric and explored a new storyline that focused on him finding love (this time one that reciprocated his feelings)....then again, he seems too reserved and too much of a 'white-knight/nice guy' to make for an intriguing & dynamic love story. Nevertheless, I will miss You're Beautiful.

Its seems pretty silly to have a season 2, when they decided not to extend the series to 20 episodes when they have intended to do if the show was deemed successful enough.

But it would be pretty cool if there was one - clearly the pacing of the show had been written with 20 episodes in mind, which is why so much seems unsettled with only 2 episodes to go. Hope the finale lives up to excellence that has been the drama so far.

Maybe they should do a season 2 or a spin-off. Shinwoo may seem boring as the 2nd lead, but that's because Minam is boring as well (not to mention dense like a donkey!). Perhaps if he's the lead in the spin-off, paired up with evil Yoo Heyi(?) or some other spunky girl, things might be interesting?

Actually, there's quite a list of J-dramas that have had more than one season, and a few "with the same cast and everything". ^^

Of-course, usually after a season, time during the drama usually passes by, so some plots of the story changer here and there with different people. But usually the story is the same with the same lead.

Season 2 of YB? Depends on the ending.

If the ending does not end well will lots of holes that needs to filled, Season 2 wouldn't be bad. On the other hand, it would be just better to add more episodes to YB than to have another 16 episodes... I wonder how the plot would go on.

Perhaps it would be a new band?

As far as a second season is concerned, I personally I wouldn't want one. I feel that this has been such a fun, quirky ride... I think that maybe it would lose that special quality it has by trying to do more (ala BOF the musical special that was put out afterward). Don't do it YAB. You are beautiful... just the way you are. :)

And @ 29 raahmose I'm with you... the fix was a good one.

I am not sure why everyone is saying that there is too much to resolve in two episodes. To me the pacing seems just right.

Subplot 1, The Yoo Hee story. That one is pretty much over and resolved: Tae Kyung rejected her. She might have psycho moments here and there but her power is not there anymore because pretty much everyone, including the reporter, knows that GMN is a girl. So there is nothing more there.

Subplot 2. The Shin Woo story. Again, pretty much over and resolved. GMN is clear about who she has chosen. He might mope here and there but his role as the pining secondary character is over and done with.

Subplot 3. The Jeremy story. That's over, and it was handled efficiently in one episode with the magic bus motif.

Subplot 4. The Big, BIG Reveal issue, GMN's father-connection to TK's mother: Done. TK now knows. Resolution can be shown in a couple of scenes easily. Maybe the aunt will tell him how TK's mother hurt GMN's mother, and then he will be contrite and realize that they are both pawns, and then maybe both TK and GMN will go, "Eff this sh*t, we don't want to live in the past with dumb adult drama. We're going to move on and marry and have many babbehs."

Subplot 5: The Real GMN /the reporter with scoop issue: Easily resolved. The real GMN has healed and is on his way back to Korea. This plot needs work, but I imagine that it will be the real GMN in the final concert, and the reporter's efforts make a story out of this will be thwarted.

Subplot 6, GMN hiding her knowledge about TK's mother: Tae Kyung now knows that Gi MiNeyo knew about his mother. This subplot is a tricky one, but, again, easily resolved in two episodes. TK will probably sulk all of ep 15 and GMN will cry a lot, but then the aunt or the manager or someone will let TK know that GMN didn't mean any harm and then all will be well. Or, hopefully, GMN will show TK that he can trust her.

I have the most problem with this subplot because GMN really messed up here. She really did break his trust, and the kid (TK) has trust issues, obviously. Also, after not ever been loved at all at any point in his life, TK will take this betrayal harder than usual. I hope GMN works to show how much she loves TK and how her love is true...I hope she is not an idiot about this.

So, that's it. Only 4, 5, 6 need resolution, and 4 and 6 are pretty much the same.

I too agree that some things are best left as they are...trying to extend or make a second season might not make it better... it's hard to let go, but that's life, all we can do is savor and cherish the moment, as there may not be a repeat...and I think we have :-)

On another note, I didn't like Hana Yori Dango 2 as much as the first one either. But, I loved Nodame Cantabile's Special. So I think I wouldn't mind a YAB special.

And is it me, or...am I seeing GREEN lately? It's like all I can see in the above picture are TK's green pants...and the hoodie he wore in ep 14 was green, GMN's raincoat was green...I've never been a fan of green but I'm starting to like it!

No season 2, I can only bare so much angst.

I'm with you. In fact, I've been thinking, that with the way pace can sometimes (not always) zip along at breakneck speed in this drama, we could be done in half an hour:

TK continues to take deep breaths. SW moves in to comfort MN, but just before he reaches her, TK gets to her first, pulls her to her feet, says sorry (gruffly). They explain themselves, they cry a bit, they forgive and all is well. SW knows he is well out of the picture, and bows out in a gentlemanly manner. Jeremy continues to process and is well on the road to recovery.

HY finally gets over it all, doesn't spill all to reporter, and slinks away sadder but wiser. Reporter is thwarted by the return of the real GMN. MHR drinks herself silly, but has truly loss her grip on TK once his love for MN is able to get him over his resentment at MN's father and once he turns his back on his past and embraces his future with MN. There! All done and dusted! Half an hour should do. Thereafter, 1.5 episodes devoted to cute moments in the boy band den.

Of course, that will never happen. And I suspect, much as we dislike the trumped up conflict, we would be disappointed if all the emo just evaporated like dew in the morning and everything were light and sunny. TK will storm and MN will cry
for another episode, I reckon. Resolution will be somewhat more complicated than it strictly needs be, to get us into the last episode, and unalloyed Joy will finally reign the last half of the last episode. Leaving fans screaming "No! We want more!" Which they won't get, of course. But..., we will always have JGS - media darling extraordinaire.

@ 36 serendipity: :-) Love your comment! I giggled and laughed my way through. I like that in your story TK says sorry "gruffly," HY "slinks," and MHR "drinks herself silly" (which she has been doing pretty much throughout anyway, so, yeah, why not finish her off with that?). So funny.

I imagine that in real life you and I are very efficient, no nonsense kinds of people. I can just imagine what my fanfics would be like: one paragraph of angst, another paragraph about the importance of letting go of anger, realizing that you can only control your actions and not those of others, forgiving the (hurting) inner child, and appreciating the beauty of simple things (like GMN), and then a happily-ever-after paragraph, which will include a sentence on a pre-nup clearly dividing assets and a legal living will (you have to plan ahead, guys). Boring, boring stuff.

You're right, though -- it's the angst and pain that makes the sweet moments sweeter, and I would have it no other way. I teared up at the end of EP 14, even though I knew it was coming, predicted exactly how it would unfold, and figured where the episode would end.

And yet,
and yet,
and yet -- my heart ached, I got a scratch in my throat, and my fists clenched as TK roughly pushed away GMN's hand and walked away.

I WANT EP 15 to be painful. I want Tae Kyung to rage and then cry. I want Go Mi Nam to stress and cry. I want there to be rain, dark clouds, and thunder. I want awkward silences and prolonged bitterness -- just as long as I know that I will get a fairytale ending in Ep 16, complete with a kick-ass concert, everything wrapped with a sweet, sweet kiss, and all tied together with a pink (glittered) heart-shaped bow .

About JGS as "media darling extraordinaire": Haa, ha. I am glad I am not the only one to notice this. I am glad that he is not the shy and retiring kind. With his eclectic (to put it mildly) fashion sense and a genuine love for performing, I think we will get a lot of JGS in the years to come, which is, as Martha Stewart would put it, a (damn fine) good thing.

So they are done with the parts in Japan right? 23rd is tomorrow, are they gonna not practice at all lol. I wish I lived in Korea at times like this too. Um, but are they singing new songs in the concert?

I'm having the same thoughts too. The only tricky bit is the trust issue between TK and MN. The best case scenario is, in consistence with the plot development so far, TK doing a paper analysis with a flow chart or something to work out the logical answer himself and reconcile with MN - but this won't happen, I guess :( The worst case scenario will then be as you girls said, another episode of angst and then matters resolved in the first half of finale. I hope the Hong sisters will prove us wrong and throw us a great pleasant surprise.

At risk of being egged, I must say that I did not wholeheartedly embrace the Hong sisters' previous works. I love them 75% for their wit and fun plots but the conflicts they created (eg My Girl and DGCH) are not convincinging enough. The time jump in both was totally unnecessary that took away a lot of good marks from both otherwise great dramas. I sincerely hope that YB will be an exception and it deserves a better treatment!

I'm going to be so sad when the series wrap next week. YAB sure brings out the little girl in me. I pray for a good ending:) BRAVO to the cast....especially JGS. I noticed him in Beethoven Virus; but as TK he is exceptionally superb!!! So talented at such a young age! I hope to see him breaking into Hollywood. He has such potential.

wish i could be there too! I'm sure I could play the part of a crazed ANJELL fangirl well...with screaming, crying and all!! Well, I'm like that in real life anyway so just like TK said "It's not acting..."

I don't want a second season, thanks. Sequels very rarely live up to the first one, especially as YB has already set the bar so high! I'd much rather a completely different drama with the same cast.

Oh well, I'm already looking forward to whatever they'll do next! Especially JGS :D After backtracking through all JB's JGS posts, it's gotten to the point where I'd be disappointed if he actually turned up at an awards show wearing something normal. Hope YB wins some awards! <3
