Boys Before Flowers: Episode 11
by javabeans
I was really annoyed with Episode 11 for the first half. I mean, REALLY dissatisfied. What happened to character continuity, yo?
At least the second half made it better. Not ALL better, but it helped erase the irritation wrought by the first part.
(The viewers didn’t seem to mind, though — yet again, ratings hit a new high with a 31.5%. Also, I have noticed the music is improved in this episode.)

EPISODE 11 RECAP
Thinking to do something nice for Jan-di, Jun-pyo supplies the pool with scented salts, soap, and froofy spa items. Does he think she’s going to be settling in for a foaming bubble bath in a chlorinated pool? I suppose when you harbor a pathological fear of swimming, you end up hazy on the concept.
Yi-jung notices that he doesn’t seem happy. Jun-pyo answers, “I’m annoyed that this is all I can do for her.”
At the tawdry Enjoy Productions, Jan-di is persuaded to pose for what she is told is an academy (hagwon) brochure, despite the obvious warning signs. If the skeezy lighting and set decoration weren’t warning enough, aren’t the stuffed animals in fetishwear a telltale clue? I’m convinced that Episode 11 Jan-di is part cute tough girl, part idiot. Actually, minus the tough.
The shoot starts off tame enough — she’s dressed in a school uniform but asked to wear bunny ears — and then the two pervy ajusshis ask her to change into her next costume. Thankfully the writer remembers that Jan-di at least has half a brain, because she puts her foot down at the playboy bunny outfit.
The creepy men insist she continue and advance slowly, jazz hands waggling like they’re about to tickle her to death. Jan-di apparently forgets she is master of the high-flying spinning back kick, because all she does is shrink back and cower (what, did she lose part of her courage along with part of her brain?), waiting for someone to save her.
Thankfully, someone does. This is a guy she had bumped into on her way inside the building, who for whatever reason has sensed her trouble. He grabs Jan-di and ushers her outside.
He walks her home but declines to identify himself, saying that they’ll be meeting soon anyway, at which time he’ll introduce himself properly. He leaves saying, “Good night, Geum Jan-di sshi.”
Ga-eul and Jan-di puzzle over how her “black knight” knows her. Then Ga-eul and their boss drool over a hot new model on TV, the mysterious “Haje” (pronounced “ha jay”). Gee, I wonder who that could be.
At school, Jan-di’s grumbling stomach and the wafting smell of food lead her to an empty storeroom, where ramen is cooking. She calls out a greeting (and gets no response), then sneaks a taste because she’s starving. Uh, I’m pretty sure it’s a bad idea to eat anything out of an unknown pot in an unknown room, but like I said, it’s like Jan-di’s half-brain-dead for this episode. She eats.
The ramen owner/cooker walks in, catching her mid-bite — and she recognizes him as the black knight. This is Lee Jae-ha, looking mighty different from the cool, collected guy who’d helped her. He addresses Jan-di as “sunbae” (he’s a first-year, so probably 16 or 17) and confesses he’s her fan, seeing how she stood up to F4 like a “commoners’ hero.”
Jae-ha explains that he intentionally adopted a nerdy appearance at school, wanting to go unnoticed, since he doesn’t care for any of the people here anyway. Jan-di laughs because she can identify with that, and Jae-ha eagerly agrees that they’re from the same world. Since she was looking for work, he mentions a decent-paying gig doing errands at a photo shoot, which she accepts.
Jae-ha acts the part of the unassuming outsider when he bumps into Jun-pyo and apologizes profusely — but we see a flash of something darker when he glares at Jun-pyo’s back.
Jun-pyo comments how he’s barely seen Jan-di recently, and intends to whisk her off to Hokkaido for a short weekend jaunt. Thinking of her new job, Jan-di fumbles for an excuse, seizing on Ga-eul’s birthday — it’s their long-standing tradition for her to spend the night.
(I can see why she’d be uncomfortable telling Jun-pyo the truth — she may just not want him to worry after declining his financial help. But if this is her intention, the drama shows it poorly — because by lying, it makes it seem this is about Jae-ha more than the job, which makes me very, very cranky with Jan-di.)
Disappointed, Jun-pyo grumbles, “Am I more important, or Ga-eul?” Immediately, she answers, “Ga-eul,” then forces a laugh and promises to call.
On his way to his studio, Yi-jung spots Ga-eul at the door and keeps himself out of view as she walks away, watching her leave with a troubled expression. On the doorstep, he finds a bag she’d left, and the contents bring a smile to his face.
Yi-jung heads to a cake shop to buy a red heart-shaped cake, then catches up to Ga-eul on the street corner. She must be the slooooowest walker ever. Presenting her with the cake and flowers, he wishes her a happy birthday (to which she responds, “Huh?”).
Okay, this modeling job irritated me because it makes Jan-di seem like an idiot. First, she arrives with the nerdy Jae-ha, surprised that everyone knows him so well. Her job is to organize the jumbled clothing, and she looks at Jae-ha in shock when he walks out dolled up as Haje, looking hot and broody in his studded black leather and guyliner.
Although Jan-di had seen through the nerd glasses to recognize her dark knight, apparently she could not connect the dots to link her dark knight to Haje. (Ha-jae = Jae-ha, get it?)
After Haje’s shoot ends, the photographer asks who Jan-di is (Haje replies, “My girlfriend”; Jan-di contradicts him). The photographer comments on how good they look together and asks if Jan-di’s interested in modeling. Haje still needs a partner for an upcoming shoot, and they like how Jan-di looks with him.
When she hears how much the job pays, Jan-di agrees.
At Ji-hoo’s place, Jun-pyo stews over being pushed aside for Ga-eul, and how Jan-di’s always busy with activities except meeting him. Ji-hoo lets Jun-pyo rant, but his observant eye is drawn to Haje’s CF on television, and seems to recognize him.
Jun-pyo falls asleep in Ji-hoo’s bed, and Ji-hoo tucks him in. It’s cute, and I expect Jun-hoo (Ji-pyo?) fanvids any moment now.
After the photo shoot, Jae-ha and Jan-di chat over ramen in the early dawn hours. He mentions that his older brother would have liked Jan-di too, so she comments that they must be close. Turns out that his brother — his only family — is ill and currently receiving medical care.
Jae-ha gives her the gist of his family history while accompanying her on her morning deliveries (and we get some cute/appropriate music for once). His father was a rich lawyer who fooled around with a poor girl, and he and his brother resulted from the affair. Jan-di feels pity for him, but his glass is half-full — at least he didn’t grow up into a materialistic snob.
They’re chatting pleasantly when Ji-hoo pulls up on his motorcycle. Jae-ha starts to introduce himself politely, but Ji-hoo ignores this and fixes a disapproving (?) look on Jan-di. He tells her, “Jun-pyo came by last night. He was unhappy at being passed over for Ga-eul.”
Jan-di starts to explain, but Ji-hoo continues, “I’ll pretend I didn’t see you today.” He zooms off, leaving Jan-di feeling guilty — but Jae-ha smiles to himself behind her back.
The guys wonder at the change in Jun-pyo, who’s no longer ranting and raving. Jun-pyo reveals his new strategy — he’ll play hard to get and make her uneasy. (The others all think he’s bound for failure.)
Woo-bin notices Yi-jung wearing his… whaddayacallem… arm socks? Disembodied sleeves? Yi-jung doesn’t explain that they’re a gift from Ga-eul, answering, “They’re a little tacky, but they’re pretty warm.”
The school is abuzz when the magazine comes out featuring Jan-di and Haje’s photo on the cover (notice the mag is named Group 7. Ha.). The Jin-Sun-Mi trio are sick with envy over Jan-di’s inexplicable pull with Jun-pyo, Ji-hoo, and now their beloved Haje: “After you stole F4 away, Haje was the one person who gave us hope in our pain!”
Haje/Jae-ha interrupts: “I don’t really care about giving you guys hope.” He’s here in his Haje persona, and steps inside to take Jan-di by the hand, and lead her outside.
Students burst into F4’s private classroom to show Jun-pyo the magazine. Seeing Jan-di on the cover, dressed only in a man’s shirt and looking cozy with Haje, his eyes widen in shock. Jun-pyo throws the magazine and storms out.
He comes upon Jan-di with Jae-ha, and confronts her angrily, asking if she’d avoided him so she could be with “trash” like Jae-ha.
He sneers, “Geum Jan-di, you sure have grown up. Now that you’ve appeared in a magazine, do you think of yourself as some kind of successful model? Tell me — is the reason you couldn’t go with me to Hokkaido because you were doing stuff like this with him?”
Unable to deny it, Jan-di remains silent. Jun-pyo continues sarcastically: “Why don’t you insist that he’s Ga-eul? Or was it his birthday that day?”
Jan-di: “I’m sorry for lying. I was wrong. I’ll explain everything.” But Jae-ha laughs then, infuriating Jun-pyo.
Jun-pyo: “Did you just laugh?”
Jae-ha: “It’s a little funny. Do you have so little confidence with the girl you like? And before getting jealous, shouldn’t you first find out what situation your girl is in?”
It’s not like there’s a good thing to say to Jun-pyo at this moment, but that’s REALLY the wrong thing. Jun-pyo beats up Jae-ha, who doesn’t put up much of a fight.
Jun-pyo demands, “What do you know, to talk like that?!” Jae-ha tells him, “Jan-di sunbae is wasted on the likes of you.”
That only pisses Jun-pyo off more, and he continues punching Jae-ha until Jan-di bursts out, “Stop!” Nice of you to step in so quickly there, Jan-di. Maybe if you’d reacted a few minutes earlier instead of just standing there dumbly, you could have actually done some good.
Jun-pyo stops hitting Jae-ha, gets up, and approaches her as she explains, “He helped me outside of school. And he was a friend at school, the only person I connected with.” Even I winced at that. (Also: Jun-pyo aside, what about Mr. Soulmate, Ji-hoo?)
Jun-pyo asks: “The only one?” Grabbing her by the jacket, he barely keeps his temper in check, demanding, “What is that bastard to you?”
Fighting tears, Jan-di says, “I’m tired. I want to stop now.” He shouts her name in disbelief, as she continues, “I want to go back to before I knew F4 and Gu Jun-pyo.”
Jun-pyo lets go of her, and stalks off without another word. F3 follows him silently, with Ji-hoo pausing to give her a look.
And I say: WUT THE…? I suppose now she’s lost part of her heart to go with her missing brain and courage. Now all she needs is some tricked-out ruby shoes to get back home.
I do not understand Jan-di in this moment, at all. NOT ONE BIT. If the first half of the episode had been devoted to their relationship obstacles and Jan-di’s struggles (like in Episode 10), her defeated statement of wanting to quit might make a teensy bit of sense. But she has just hurt Jun-pyo — having LIED to him, making him look like a fool in front of the school, caught holding another guy’s hand — and THIS is when she’s too tired of their relationship to continue?
DOES. NOT. COMPUTE.
Well, she asked for it: Jan-di is delivered a second red card. Jae-ha comes up to her clutching his own red card, and assures her, “Don’t worry, now I’ll protect you.”
The cruel pranks resume, such as her desk being removed from class. Locating it outside, Jan-di pushes the desk back toward the building, when Jae-ha darts out and cries, “It’s dangerous!”
Jae-ha pushes her back just as a heavy potted plant crashes down from the second floor, toppling the desk.
Grimly, he tells her this is Jun-pyo’s doing. He points to the landing above, just outside F4’s private classroom. In disbelief, Jan-di shakes her head, saying, “No, he wouldn’t do that.”
After she leaves, Ji-hoo inspects the broken pot.
Finding Jan-di on her paper route, Ji-hoo explains that he’s known Jun-pyo for fifteen years: “I don’t think anyone can know someone completely. But I believe I know what kind of person he is. Do you think Jun-pyo’s behind it?”
Jan-di answers, “I want to believe in him.” Ji-hoo: “Whether you believe him or not is up to you. But did you send him away because of that guy?” Ji-hoo tells her that he didn’t pursue her because of Jun-pyo: “Don’t make me regret it.”
A notice on the chalkboard indicates that class has been moved to the science lab. The lab turns out to be empty, but Jan-di waits around, not noticing when a canister of gas rolls inside, slowly filling the room with its fumes.
When Jan-di does notice the smoke/vapor, she scrambles for the door, which is locked. All the windows have been nailed shut as well, so she pounds on the windows and screams for somebody to save her. BREAK THE DAMN GLASS, idiot. But it wouldn’t be a Jan-di crisis if she didn’t wait for a hero to save her instead of actually using her brains to save herself, right? This kind of stupidity needs its own name: Jan-distress (as in, damsel in)? Jan-disaster?
Jan-di coughs and collapses on the ground as Jae-ha runs up in the nick of time, smashes the window, and saves her. As he carries her off, he reminds her, “I told you I’d protect you.”
He takes her home, where he lingers over her as he puts her to bed, about to steal a kiss when he’s interrupted by his phone.
Jae-ha assures his caller — Mama Kang — that Jan-di’s sleeping in his bed, and reminds her to get his payment ready. He stares intently at a few photos of someone we can assume is his older brother.
At this news, Mama Kang smirks: “The kid is pretty good.” She pops open a bottle of champagne and lifts her glass to toast the progress of her Master Plan of Manipulation and Evilry.
The F3 guys have been unable to get a hold of Jun-pyo, and worry that he and Jan-di may really be over for good.
In the meantime, Jun-pyo has gone off alone somewhere and rejects all his calls. We eventually see where he has chosen to brood — he walks around the class trip location from Episode 3, when Jan-di had saved Jun-pyo from drowning and given him CPR.
Ga-eul bursts into the F4 lounge in tears, asking the guys for their help in finding Jan-di. She’s been unable to get in contact with her and something seems fishy — her family received a call that Jan-di was out with F4, which she obviously isn’t.
Woo-bin and Yi-jung hope that she’s with Jun-pyo, but Ji-hoo has other suspicions. He orders someone to contact Jun-pyo because Jan-di’s in danger.
Jan-di wakes up disoriented and groggy, shocked to find out she’s been unconscious for the past two days. Jae-ha assures her that he called her parents so they wouldn’t worry, saying she’d gone on a trip with friends.
Jan-di thanks him for his help and starts to leave, but Jae-ha asks if she still trusts Jun-pyo, warning that Jun-pyo is the kind of guy who would destroy her if he can’t have her for himself.
Jan-di tells him to watch his words: “There are things about Gu Jun-pyo that you don’t know, that I do.” Jae-ha counters, “No, there are things I know that you don’t… Way before you knew him, I’ve known what kind of person he was. He doesn’t see anyone outside of F4 as people. He’s someone who doesn’t consider other people’s happiness or lives.”
With certainty, Jan-di contradicts him: “No, he was like that before, but he isn’t now.”
Jae-ha grabs Jan-di to him, pleading with her to break up with Jun-pyo: “You weren’t right for each other from the start. Come to me. We understand each other. You and I are like minds in the same world.” Jan-di shoves him off.
Jan-di: “You’re someone I was grateful for, who became a supportive friend, but you’re not for me.”
Jae-ha: “You can’t still have faith in that jerk, can you? Even when you’ve gone through this?”
Jan-di: “I do, I believe in him. Because Gu Jun-pyo believed in me.”
Jae-ha tries to grab Jan-di for a kiss as she struggles against him. Breaking free, she slaps him.
Jae-ha tells her, “You’ll regret this. Please come to your senses!” Jan-di assures him that she’s seeing clearer than ever: “Thanks to you, I realize what I’ve done wrong. And what Gu Jun-pyo means to me.”
She leaves with the parting words: “There’s no such thing as Jae-ha’s world, or Jun-pyo’s world. It’s enough to look at the same thing from the same place.”
Jae-ha grabs Jan-di from behind and applies a (presumably drug-soaked) cloth over her nose and mouth, saying, “I warned you that you’d regret it.”
Jun-pyo returns home, unaware of everything that’s transpired in his absence. He’s immediately alarmed when his butler tells him F4 have been very worried because of Jan-di.
Jun-pyo is handed an envelope containing an anonymous letter bearing the ominous message: “If you want to save Geum Jan-di, come alone.” With it is a picture of Jan-di, bound and gagged, and a lock of her hair.
With Jan-di in danger, Jun-pyo pretends nothing’s wrong and insists on going to bed undisturbed. Once he’s alone, though, he dons black clothing and grimly prepares to meet the kidnapper.
Hearing Jun-pyo’s returned, the guys rush to his house, but find his door locked. The butler, agreeing with Woo-bin’s misgivings, defies Jun-pyo’s orders and unlocks the door, telling them of the odd letter that was delivered earlier.
The room is empty, curtains billowing in the open window.
Somewhere in a dark warehouse, Jan-di wakes up from her drugged sleep, tied to a chair. (Did anyone else immediately think to the RIDICULOUS Witch Amusement Episode 14 kidnapping? Which, btw, is an episode I already referenced when comparing the lights scene in Episode 9.)
Jae-ha owns up to everything, boasting of his perfectly executed plan — the photo shoot, the red card, the science lab. He assures her, “I had a reason — actually, two.”
She wonders at his motives, so Jae-ha tells her, “Look at me. Don’t I remind you of someone?”
COMMENTS
Even if you weren’t familiar with the storyline, I had a feeling from Episode 1 that this actor — Jung Eui-chul — would be coming back. He’d given a strong enough performance that it seemed unlikely he was cast in such a tiny role unless there was more planned for him.
(Born in 1985 and 186cm tall, Jung debuted as a model, after which he appeared in the TV shows Hello My Teacher and Rainbow Romance, as well as movies Doremifasolatido, Beastie Boys, and Romantic Island.)
Regarding Jae-ha’s role: I like fast-moving storylines. When you know the general outcome of the drama, there’s not a lot of reason to draaaaag out conflicts. But in this case, I wish they’d drawn out the Jae-ha storyline a little — not for the exaggerated melodrama, but because I think it could have been a good chance to extract some development out of our characters. By which I mean, he could have been a great foil to Jun-pyo in a way not even Ji-hoo could accomplish.
For instance: Jun-pyo tends to order Jan-di around, even when he has her best interests at heart. With Jae-ha, the dynamic is different, partly because Jan-di is older and partly because Jae-ha (before going evil-genius on us) seems to respect her and defer to her. It would have been nice to see that contrast played up more. I suppose Ji-hoo was supposed to do that, but Jung is a good actor, so perhaps that’s why I feel this could have presented a more compelling triangle.
As for Jan-di’s absurd and nonsensical actions? I AM SO ANNOYED. I’m glad she came around in the second half of the episode — about halfway through, things took a marked upswing — but the first half had me totally confused. How could she break up with Jun-pyo so easily, after all they’d gone through to stay together? What about all the sweetness and light of Episodes 9 and 10, and the lovely promise she made that she wouldn’t be scared off, and the kiss that (literally) stopped traffic?
Ms. Writer Lady: THIS STORY DOES NOT WORK WITHOUT JAN-DI. Please bring back the Jan-di who made sense!

Before i begin, i am SO frustrated with a certain character. Who's name is.....JANDI!!! AHH!
She is driving me CUH RAY EE ZEE! two words that define her: STUPID GIRL.
Okay, so there were obviously a lot of things that happened in this episode...new twists, new storylines, and yes..i'm getting to the new character. okay, so from what i remember (correct me if i'm wrong) the ep started with jandi still trying to get part time jobs to help her family and then she was stuck in that creepy room, right? ughhhh, so then the door shut and i was like, 'WHAT THE HECK!' And for some time, nothing bad happens...and those two creepy guys take pics of her being cute. so then i was like, uhhh something's still not right here. and then, those freakin perverts open the curtain and she's holding a skanky PINK, FURRY, BUNNY suit (which is really..just ridiculous and not sexy..if that's what they wanted) and then of course they move in on her. the whole time i was thinking, SHE'S GONNA GET RAPED OR SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the WHOLE time, i think: She is SO stupid. i mean, why would you even go there. all right, so here's my problem with jandi's problem (her family is almost broke). Why can't her parents work more or find some way to get more money or find another job right away? i mean, she doesn't have to do everything!
SOOO...a random guy comes and rescues her. but it was so funny when he barely even touched/hit those nasty perverts (although they were probably just acting, there are real people like that) and they just like, frozen.
and then, of course he's a model and she earns money for doing a photo shoot. and here's another mistake...she's almost selling herself for money...i mean, okay some cute photo shoots would have been okay, except she was in a lot of slutty poses with short shorts and stuff..eww. but i mean, is this girl dumb or what? i mean, she wouldn't get into a pink, burry bunny suit lingerie thing, but she wore a guy's white shirt and like black underwear type clothes? she's not consistent at all! and she should've known that if haje was a model and he's in magazines..then obviously, if she was in one with him,,, everyone would see! so, my point is..she has NO right to be surprised that ppl would misinterpret that...she's just too stupid sometimes. okay, on to jahe.
okay, so we know who jahe is now right? he's the brother of the guy who was trying to commit suicide...he's either a twin or just regular brother...i'm not sure...but anyway, yeahh basically, he came to the school to take advantage of jandi and get revenge on junpyo. basically, by taking someone precious to junpyo, he's hurting him just like junpyo hurt someone precious to jahe, his brother. but, we'll get to know his character later on more. I honestly thought he was a pretty good actor; he's not supposed to show too many emotions because he needs to mysterious to gain our attnetion...but more will be explained later, i hope. but he is so EVIL!
now onto my favorite character, junpyo. now,,, let's be honest. yes, he's hott. and sexy. however! i like the character of junpyo because of how lee min ho portrays his character. i mean, i like how we have to keep guessing whether junpyo is really a good guy or a bad guy...it's interesting becuz in regular korean dramas...the main hott guys are always good. but it's nice to know that junpyo is far from perfect and he's only human to show us that he has faults too. (now, jandi is another story!)
junpyo's selfish and thinks he can buy love with money (Ex: he tries taking jandi to eat crab alll the way to japan) but he isn't unkind. he's actually very sweet and he's sensitive. yet i'm soo attracted to his bad boy-ness. haha. he's never had to think about other people's emotions before becuz he's always gotten his way. but now, with jandi...he has to learn that he can't get everything he wants and has to learn to accept his faults. and he also has to learn to deal with his anger...he can't just beat up everyone who makes him mad...i mean, this is like the 2nd time...remember gaeul's ex boyfriend? but of course, this time was much more violent.
sooooooo, now you know that all those things....the "almost" rape scene, the science room, and everything was obviously planned by jahe. i'm not sure if junpyo's mom was in this or not.....hmm. it's possible. but for now, i'll say probably not. i don't think she's that evil. i mean, jahe is a freakin psycho! like, that pic he sent to junpyo of her in the chair with the black tape over her mouth...and the scratched out part of it...it vaguely reminded me of the JOKER! from batman! now, he was crazy. jahe has some mental illness..i'm sure.
oh, to add..well junpyo probably has no idea who this guy (jahe) or his brother are.....i mean, he pretty much ignores everyone......you could say that he's a bully or he's a jerk...but the truth is that, he doesn't know how to communicate to people and becuz he hasn't ever received much love, he doesn't know how to send love to ppl. so, i'm on his defense...he is the protagonist, afterall.

i love how they have the pic of the twin brothers, you can totally see the same-but-not-really looks the brothers have, and that is to say jung eui chul is a really good actor.
And i think jandi didn't do anything until jaeha was beaten to a pulp is because she was thinking of her relationship with junpyo and everything before she decided to break up but i do agree that the break up is kinda too sudden.
She didn't promise not to run away from him, she just promised that the reason won't be his mother.

While it is hard to put dramas like this on anything like normal terms and emotions once again I well go to the defence of Jandi.
JeweL nails it, the girl was physically and emotional wasted she was going around on auto pilot. [it to be noted that after a long sleep to recover she at once goes to Joonpyo defence ]
It not surprising she gets scared and avoids Joonpyo, the guy like a tidal wave rolling over everything. And a borderline psychopath too boot if she had not stopped him it would be lucky if he did not kill the model guy.
As for the model shoot she did it for the money..I just do not get why everyone thought it ment some kind of romance..well other than Joonpyo of course as he seem to live off rage and jealousy, you can really see how much like he is to his mother at times with that dark side of his. Not surprising poor Jandi frightened by everything that been happening to her..and her family.
And is she really stupid or just too innocent and trusting, she likes to help people and that will get her in trouble.
As for the model at a guess he is getting paid by Joonpyo mother, but he only playing her, his real goal in to get revenge on Joonpyo and wouldn't it be perfect to get paid by Joonpyo Mother and at the same time get back for his brother. His feelings for Jandi? I sure he has some, she not his target just his tool, but revenge comes first.

Jung Eui-chul! I was so disappointed in his departure in the first episode and I hoped that they would find a reason to use him and here he is! I giggled entirely too much listening to him speak this episode. Love him!
Back to the show, from the bunny ears and spirit fingers, to the follow your nose game, to "Let's end this." I'm the one who is tired Jandi!!! Me!
Like everyone else this ep was lacking and disappointing. The dialogue, the directing but the biggest issue had to be CONTINUITY!!!!!!
I had a few main issues:
1. GEUM JAN DI
Did anyone else notice the look on Jandi's face when JH didn't come by and console her after she blew up JunPyo's heart? I was highly pissed in that moment. She actually thought that JH was going to stop and check in with her, like she deserved that. Umm kid, wasn't it you laughing and wheeling with bloody faced model god earlier? Right, thought so.
2. Why does YiJung dig himself in deeper with Ga Eul? Now of course he likes her, but he's not supposed to or he doesn't want or whatever adorable rich playboys with man whores for fathers with daddy issues tell themselves in kdramas. When he runs smiling to spend time with her (no questions asked mind you), he shouldn't be surprised(or burdened) that she is grateful or assumes more than she should. Also, I think that Ga Eul should leave a note with her gifts. I mean I don't know if its prideful of me (though I'm sure it is) but I think that she should be clear as to why she is doing what she is doing. She's thankful to him (she can omit anything dealing with butterflies, sweaty palms and heart palpitations). This would make me feel better. I hate to see her giving away too much too soon, though I am believing, her being this way is the one thing that will get him to come to her. He assumes that she's fallen for him, and though I'm sure she has, there is more to it. She's a nice girl who sees that he's a nice boy who likes her. She doesn't give up on him but she doesn't push either. It's likable but for emotional suppressive women like myself, I need less heart and more sleeve.
3. Jae-ha/Haje never fooled anyone. He looked like a model the entire ep, one with boy shadow, then one with Clark Kent specks. Same dude, no surprise.
But with all that there were some things that I liked:
1.I don't know what it is but I love it when JunPyo has dumb bright ideas. He truly is so cute. That scene with the guys shows their love and acceptance of him. It's sweet.
2. Jandi has a moment of breakdown and clarity. This was a long time coming and though this ep was a horrible way to express it, I'm still grateful. Also I was impressed with her belief in him. In the scene with the flower pot you know that she truly does not believe that JP did this. I was surprised but again grateful. And after reading an earlier post I better understand her tiredness and feelings or suffocation.
I know the the next ep will be better better.

i mean seriuosly, okay you thought it was her birthday. you gave her a cake. fine.
why HEART SHAPED ???
seriously. either yi jung is oblivious to his own actions to gaeul or hes just plain dumb, which is oh so obviously impossible, since he is supposed to be the greatest player of all time in this show... mehhs.
but still, i <3 kimkim.

i was confused along with everyone else...esp the scene when jandi "broke up" with junpyo and said she wanted to go back to her life before f4 and junpyo. in my head i was like why did u just write them off esp. her "soulmate" jihoo.....wasn't he the one that always understood you and helped you out?
anyhoo loved the yijung/gaeul scenes..eventho they were short
wow mama kang is off the hook!!!! i guess she will really do anything to get between them...

Awesome recap, as always, so thanks, Javabeans !
I must confess I didn't feel so annoyed with this episode as you and many people here seem to have. I can relate with Jandi: her family has lost nearly everything, and she has found someone (Jae-ha) she thinks she can relate to. After all, he's nice with her, respecful, he doesn't make demands like Jun-Pyo, and tries to helps her (at least, that's what we see at the beginning of the episode)... Even if she likes/loves Jun-Pyo, his proposing a trip - even if well-meant and showing he wants to spend time with her - shows he doesn't really understand in how bad a situation she is, and of course, she would not want to pass an opportunity to make some money. I don't get what reason/right Jun-Pyo has to get mad at... a PROFESSIONAL photoshoot: it's not like he caught her in bed with Haje, and he's supposed to know she's in a bind... I guess her exhaustion mixed with his lack of unserstanding (not because he's mean, just because he was raised this way), adding his violence explains why she wants to give up at first. But at least, we see that she hasn't given up, and trusts him not to have put up the new red card...
Well, well, can't wait for tonight's episode!

There's a high probability that the lights and kidnapping scenes are not copied from other dramas such as witch amusement because these scenes are exactly paralled to the meteor garden version.. oooh im so excited for the next episode because the scene where jerry yan went to rescue barbie xu from the kidnappers was so beautifully dramatic! when he was beaten up and told her that he's containing his temper or else he wouldnt be able to protect her and when barbie jumped in to protect jerry from an incoming hit was so full of drama ..hehehe... I want to see how jun pyo will portray that scene! its one of my favorite scenes because i think its the scene where the couple proves to each other how much they love each other! awww so cheesy but so loving it! thank you for the recaps! i love it!! it makes my day! advance happy valentines day!!! oh i saw empress chun chun.. and im very impressed with the actress playing jandi's best friend! wow..thats another awesome drama i recommend!

ok ok ok after reading everybody's oppinion about JanDi i felted the same way too but I just felted like I had to defend the poor girl...she's been working herself day after day after day out in the cold, stressing over her family income, her brother not eating regularly, her boyfriend only seeing money as a mean of escape, and school as no help a all with all the rich people who has nothing in common with her that she hs lost some common sense in herself.
THE GIRL WAS SLEEP DEPRIVE!!! ALL SHE NEEDED WAS TO SLEEP TO GET HER SENSES BACK TOGETHER!!! HAHAHA DID NYONE NOTICED THAT AFTER THAT TWO DAY OF SLEEP AND REST SHE WAS ABLE TO COME TO HER SENSES AND SAID SHE BELIEVED IN JUNPYO CUZ JUNPYO BELIEVED IN HER??? I THOUGHT THAT PART WAS PRETTY FUNNY BECAUSE THEY MADE IT SEEMED LIKE LL SHE NEEDED WAS A LITTLE REST TO COME BACK TO HER SENSES...HAHAHAHA
I also thought that all the actord did pretty good job with the horrible script that they received. Gu Hye Sun looked stunning in her photoshoot. During half of the episode I was kinda/slightly rooting for Jae Ha....kekeke....hey man he's one hot cookie...gotta admit he seems hotter and manlier than Lee MinHo...sorry LMH fans....

Well I don't quite see the fuss. Sure I'm disappointed that we don't have more sweet scenes from jandi/junpyo, but this episode is part of the story right? I'm just glad that it won't drag too long and we prob have some happy scenes the following episode. Also, don't forget that jandi and junpyo barely know each other (and are young!), they have gone for a few dates, both of them are newbies to the whole dating thing and jandi, despite admitting to her feeling for junpyo in the hospital scene, might not even be ready for a relationship, junpyo sort of rushed her into one. And she did the job because she wanted the money for her family, remember how her brother had no money for food in the previous episode? I think the best way for us to enjoy the show without being too frustrated is not to compare her too much with how we think she should be :) That said, the script writer should keep a close eye on making the episodes credible...

I'm so agree with #96. Situations make her confused and weak. Being with JP has brought her and her family a lot of issues. She tries so hard to make the living in such a young age. Anybody can fall apart because of all those challenges. I don't see any wrong with Ji hoo character, or acting. I like it indeed.
Javabean, How come Ji Hoo character looks so frail and pale? Is it because of the requirement to fit in the character, or is it because of Kim Hyun Joong's poor health?
He was so sexy, gorgeous, and masculine in We Got Married.

Along with almost everyone, I was very irritated during MOST of episode 11.
I tried SO HARD not to compare this with HYD (japanese version) but I couldn't help it, especially the way Jan-Di carelessly hurts Jun Pyo. UGH. (she promised)
It's almost like she doesn't feel anything for him. It's as if she'd OCCASIONALLY feel little bits of warm fuzzy feelings for him (ie hospital scene, swing scene, highway/suck-face scene). Makino wasn't like that. The viewers can tell when she starts liking him. I can't seem to sense that here. Also, there were always solid reasons when she gets upset with Tsukasa.
And the whole "Jan-Di can't lean on Junpyo, who is btw her boyfriend, because she wants to be independent but she sure can spend some quality delivery time with some other guy" is also very frustrating. They're portraying her as somewhat reluctant in letting Junpyo in her life while the poor guy has been breaking his back trying to show her his true, genuine feelings.
And the whole character inconsistency thing is totally confusing.
All of a sudden, Jan-Di is this fragile, helpless girl. WTH. She's supposed to be a strong willed and fierce girl!
The whole Knight in shining armor scene with the perverted old men was so poorly done. I can't help remembering the HYD version except she was rescued by Rui (Ji-hoo).
HOWEVER, I do love the Yi Jung-Ga Eul tidbits. I like Ji Hoo being more Rui-like much better than when he acted selfishly.
I think, MAYBE, the writers want to portray the first half of this season as more of Junpyo giving more than Jan-di. Hopefully, later this season, we'll actually see Jan-di giving him more than just the sense of "family". More from herself, I guess.
So yeah, I'm hoping it'll be like that. That's the only way I can make sense of my frustration over Jan-di's character right now.

I don't recall Jandi ever having shown a particularly strong side since the very beginning. Only towards Jun Pyo has she ever shown any sort of defiance. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
When she initally got tortured by F4 in the early episodes, even then she never stood up to the kids throwing eggs at her...etc. No, she just stood there and took it over and over again. I was actually annoyed with her back then.
So her *not* standing up for herself in this episode wasn't at all shocking to me. And I must be the only one who watched it and didn't get that annoyed with her... perhaps because I wasn't surprised.
Also her breaking up with Jun Pyo is somewhat understandable to, if you think about her situation. I think she's feeling pressured from his mom who is completely against them and not to mention thanks to that woman, her family is now in a dire finacial situation, which obviously makes her feel guilty and responsible.
Wouldn't she rationalize in her in mind that the best thing to do would be to break it off with him, so things don't get *even more* difficult? But thanks to this guy Jae Ha, she's already realized that she must be with Jun Pyo no matter how difficult things may be... and hopefully she won't do something yet again to disappoint him....
But Jun Pyo needs to consider Jae Ha's words: That he's quick to get jealous but doesn't stop to consider his girlfriend's situation. She doesn't have it easy like he does... I agree he is a bit demanding and all. And he had the audiacity to announce her as his girlfriend without having any of her consent whatsoever... he just got lucky that she managed to fall for him. At first it felt like she was with him because she "had" to be... he would drag her along and basically kidnap her.
I do agree however that this episode was rushed. And I also wish Jae Ha could have pretended to be a good guy for a little while longer, at least a few more episodes.... that would make things interesting. Jun Pyo and Jandi break up and make up waayy too quickly every single episode... it's getting kind of old. In episode 13, is another guy going to come in and try and steal Jandi away from Jun Pyo too? And immediately they'll get bak together?

I just finished the episode and had to come here. OMG, Jandi, where do I even begin with her. She was iffy to me from the get-go and it seems to be going downhill, fast. She is my least favorite character in the drama, and she should be the main main main likable, lovable, admirable female lead in this. Why she is always acting so stupid and (like someone else said before) always repeating part of what the others are saying is beyond me. It's so annoying & frustrating. I agree, Jandi does not make sense. So sad since she does not match the intensity of LMH who is doing such a fantastic job.

Same sentiments here everyone.
Jan Di -- I swear I could have strangled you in this episode from start to finish. RED everything in the photo room with a bed and those nasty stuff toys, even a 6th grader will know what those are. THEY'RE NOT TOY TOYS, you know what I mean?
The noodles, who the heck brings their own portable stove and cook noodles in those kind of schools.. funny! Doesn't make sense! The modeling ? HUH?!
Jun Pyo - I think he also lost part of his brain somewhere. HELLO! ? Remember when you said by the pool "this is all I can do for here" then you said "I don't know how many jobs she has" and you are expecting for a DATE. Remember, they were selling stuff on the streets because of Evil Mama Kang (which by the way I like because she's so good in portraying that evil witch character - they got the right actress to play her). Well, I understand that he is a spoiled brat and he can't change in a few months --- ok I'll forgive this time.
Beating up Jae Ha - I tell you I will strangle Jan Di over and over in this episode, why the long wait, may be she was too slow processing in her brain what to say, something like .... S......... T.......... O............P ..........! Oh yeah it's the word "STOP"
Breaking up!!!!!!!!!! I think I will dig my nails dipper into her neck now!
The only part that made me sooooooooooo glad to see this episode is the ................... yijung-gaeul scenes! they melted my hardening heart and arteries ...... hahahahaha.........
The teaser for episode 12 is a bit better (I HOPE), but Jan Di Losses the necklace again!
But it doesn't matter..... I will still be watching this series no matter what! I will finish it till the end. I still can't get enough of it, I still watch the previous episodes over and over while waiting for the new ones.
Thanks Javabeans for the re-cap, you are right on the spot with this episode.

oh geez this episode was annoying. i feel like this drama takes 2 steps forward and then 3 steps back. it wouldn't be so bad, but we're nearly at the halfway point. it's time to get real!
i've put up with jandi until now, but this episode was my breaking point. i mean how stupid do you get? her "knight" just always happened to be there for her when she needed help..she didn't even ask how he knew where she was....and the scene where jaeha carries her out of the building and says he'll protect her...way to rip-off the similar scene early on in the show junpyo carried her off after she was bullied by the school. oy.
having said that, i'm also tired of the "bullying" scenes...like where they steal her desk and such. it's not like anyone learns at that school anyways. all they do is gossip and look at magazines. there was only one episode where i saw a professor. why even have classroom scenes?
i hope jaeha "reforms". i'd hate to see his character disappear with a negative label lingering. in certain scenes he really seemed like a nice person, just caught up in an "evil" job. i agree that there is chemistry between jandi and jaeha that goes above and beyond any chemistry jandi had/has with jihoo. i think the actor who plays jaeha would have been a better jihoo substitute (not that i'm hating on khj).
finally, poor junpyo. can't the writers cut him some slack...honestly? i mean there are barely any jandi/junpyo romantic scenes. they are always fighting...yet they are supposed to be dating...am i the only one who finds that weird? it's time for this drama to be more realistic/believable (yea right!) at least where their relationship is concerned.

Emotionally this episode just doesn't make sense, and it's a bad habit of BOF. The last time Jan Di was this weak was when they wanted to do the New Caldonia plot and had to set JP/JD up as a couple.
Why is Ga Eul giving Yi Jeong arm warmers? Why is he giving her a heart cake? Why did Jan Di cower on the bed instead of spin kicking Mr Tiggles and his friend?
I'd take the bad music inserts over lack of character consistency, I can ignore one but not the other.

February 10, 2009 at 12:32 AM
I feel annoyed at Jandi just reading your recap!
Her actions are completely non-Jandi. There were many of these moments in the entire drama. Gu Jun Pyo aside, it's weird to see Jandi to be so impressed with shiny and expensive stuff when in the beginning, she doesn't even want to eat school food because she coolly explains she can't stomach any food that's too expensive. Then she goes and stuff herself silly at the sushi place.
Jandi can be blinded by her need for money... sure... but really ... her eyes are clearly 100% gone in this episode... The set up at the photo shoot? c'mon! There were just so many things wrong with this Jandi.
Not that I aim at comparison, but I can't help but remember the Taiwanese Jandi. (Not the Japanese one only because the korean storyline and taiwanese one are more similar) Taiwanese Jandi (and even the Japanese one!) is MUCH cooler. You can feel the sense of righteousness and principles from them always. But this Jandi... I don't know what is going on. I really think one of the weaker characters of this entire drama is Jandi. Which is a big shame, since I've always liked San Cai / Makino, and they're the focus of the show!!!!!

This episode is probably my least favorite, by far. Jan Di was just all over the place! And, just really impractical in most situations. She could've avoided everything. I must've spent half of the episode yelling, "UGH, YOU IDIOT. YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO THIS!" at the screen.
Jan Di is seriously horrible at choosing friends. First, Min Ji, and now this guy. Why do they both happen to be somewhat all psycho? She needs to stick to Ga Eul. I thought Eui Chul's acting was good, though. I wonder what would've happened if he wasn't influenced by Madam Kang.

127 Romance needed!
February 10, 2009 at 12:47 AM
@#120, DBSK
Wow... I was just thinking about that in episodes 9 and 10. Considering the weighted promises and claims Jan-di made to Gu Jun Pyo, you would think there was alot more romance than what was shown in the past 8 episodes. But if we think back on it, we were only given scenes where Jun Pyo is showing his affection with money and Jandi stares at things with wild amazement. And that's it... That's not a relationship. That's someone who doesn't mind leeching off the rich.
I would be more convinced if she had given those promises to Ji-hoo. Now they shared many moments together where they had a heart - to -heart. Everything they talked about together, coffee at the gas station, etc. That should've been done with Jun Pyo.
I'm not looking for a gushy girly romantic moment here. But I'd sure like some giving on Jan-di's side. Or some caring of Jun Pyo would do. The cookies was a nice start. How many more times do I need to see Jan-di "seeing the error of her ways" when she's suppose to be the more sensible one.

I think it's time for the PD and the writers to STOP adapting story arcs from the manga that doesn't really continue the flow of the drama. This certain story arc wouldn't have sense anyway, due to the fact that Jandi and JunPyo are already in a trusting relationship. For this certain storyline to work... Jandi had to do something that makes her feel that JunPyo had abandon her. The Taiwanese version showed JP's counterpart try to apologize and confess his feelings.... but Shancai couldn't accept his feelings. So, she recieves the red card. By putting in this story arc... they ruined everything that was established in Episode 10.
So, it's a step back. Everything until Episode 11... worked great. It was like they were in a hurry and they couldn't write a decent script. It was rushed. They were trying to cram everything into one episode, and it showed.

Come on people, give Jandi a break. Sure, she looked stupid in this episode but I can rationalize her actions. She is tired from all her jobs, sleep deprived (yes, tests have shown detrimental effects), worried about her family and Junpyo is not helping with his fiery temper. Sure, I think it is sweet when Junpyo wants to spend more time with Jandi but obviously she cannot afford to at this time.
Granted, Jandi should not have lie but given Junpyo's temper, I think I would have done it too in her case just to avoid the unnecessary arguing that would have bound to erupt. Gee, am I the only one who thinks that Junpyo's hotheadedness is terrifying and frustrating to deal with? No offence though I did love Junpyo character in the manga, but here I find him a bit scary heh. Too much images of him involved in punching and grabbing Jandi's collar?!
In all, I think what is lacking here is a proper depth to the character of Jandi. There should be more focus on fleshing out the thinking behind her actions and showing us the inner turmoil she is having so that she will not end up looking like an idiot and maybe just quit playing the song 'Lucky' again to lessen our irritations.
I hope that the writers will also increase the screen time of Junpyo and Jandi together talking about their dreams, just holding hands etc. This tells me that they are bonding and builds up the chemistry (which is seriously lacking) instead of always having them arguing.
Lastly, kudos to the great cast and crew for acting out their roles so well even though of all the accidents and crazy filming schedule. I really hope that more time and care can be taken to improve the acting and editing. BOF Fighting!

I agree with everyone's comments. Jan Di is just so weak. She's supposed to be a strong, intelligent, and spunky girl, but acts so helpless in so many scenes. It's hard to like or even root for her in this version.
I wished that they had extended Jung Eui-chul's character for two or three more episodes, but knowing what'll happen next, his character will end in the following episode. He's a good actor and I felt there was more chemistry between Jae Ha and Jan Di than her and Jun Pyo.

I think if she is a magnet of all the boys comig in is mostly because of the mother who hires them or thing like that ...
and the guys falling in love with her because she is some kind of innocent, have a pride, kind, warm...well guys find in her what they are looking for..
Just watch one more time the eppi and I found the part where JP came to her with his jalousy and insult her and then fight with her friend and then she broke up with JP made sense cos he insult her and he is some kind of violent so if I was her I find it very pressuring and scared so I will said the same words as her "break up"...she was hurt too and a lil relief I supposed and then after that it seems that she lives back to her normal life but then she missed it cos she get used of JP ..THis show that she has changed and began to realised that she couldn t go back
I think what JH wanted to tell J with his words "don t make me regret that I send u off because of JP" is JH gave up because JP is his friend but he will regret if she hurt JP..anyway can t figured out the sense...
and in the fire scene I will be like her..in rush time you can t come up with the best solution...:p
oh finally thanx for your recaps..as always made me understand more stuff from the story , and yeah I am wih you "bring back our JD and her back kick"..wanna made a petition? ^^

I think part of the reason that Jun-Pyo is so mad about the magazine cover is because she never told him. If you are in a relationship with someone you communicate with them. You don't let them find out something like that by looking on a magazine cover that one of the school's minions brings to them. Which will also means that now the entire school knows that he/F4 didn't know. F4 has a position to maintain after all. Added to that she lied to him about what she was doing, so JP has every right to be mad at her.
JD was really wishy-washy this episode. If she could kick GE's ex she could have attempted to fight those guys off, instead of running and screaming. This characterisation of JD better improve or I'm going to start shipping JP and anyone but JD.

I've come to expect Korean dramas to jump the shark somewhere around ep 10. After that I give a series (and its writers) one ep to redeem itself (themselves). After that, it's emotional bye-bye for me. This ep was a definite shark-jumper. Cautiously, leaning back into my armchair for ep 12.

I've been reading the recaps for BoysBefore Flowers for a while now but it wasn't till last week that I actually sat down and watched the first 10 episodes and got addicted... so I was rather annoyed, like the rest of you, that after a week of anxiously waiting, the episode turned out to be a dud.
Yes, I cannot stand Jan-di in this episode. Somewhere after the first couple of episodes, the girl has lost her spunk. I've seen this before in KDrama. Independent, spunky girl falls in love... and then tuns into a sap. Ugh. (And I sense that Ga-eul is going that way too, where's that attitude she had with Yi-Jung in the first few episodes?)
Secondly Jun-pyo, despite some moments of likability in previous episodes, continues to act like the arrogant, socially inept git that he is. Okay, he may not be able to do much for her but whisking her off to Hokkaido for a luxury weekend when her family is in such a bind (and money such an issue), is supremely insensitive, plus he goes into aggressive psycho mode at the drop of a hat. Scary.
A similar complaint could be decked out to the rest of F4. As much as Ji-hoo professes to like Jan-di- not once did he inconvienience himself to actually help out like Jae Ha did (with the paper delivery). Again, ugh.

I have decided to watch this drama with rose colored glasses and I LOVE IT! Everything about it. I will admit that if this adaptatation had been first then my love affair with HDY would have ended early, but this is the 9th version. [There the 1995 movie, an anime, HDY 1 and 2, HDY the final movie, MG 1, MG 2, and Meteor Rain (never actually saw MR)] With so much HDY goodness in the world, it is easy to let a lot of things go.
I did not have a problem with JD at all this episode, except for when the classroom filled with smoke. I was like fool break the glass or are you afraid that they are going to make you pay for it later. I agree with Lavendar and Dulop comments, I understand why she was tired. You have a boyfriend who makes you promise to tell him everything, but you truly know that you can not. Don't you think she wants to talk to him about things, but he showed us in this episode that he takes things to the extreme. If she told him about his mom bribe or her parents food stand, what do you think he was do or say to his mother. Something that would make the situation worse for her and her family. If she told him she had a job, that some other guy found for her. I don't want to imagine the explosion. He would have showed up at the job, drug her away, bought the magazine, and then fired all the employees. Seeing him beat up someone she liked and trusted was the last straw. To be honest she was so on edge at this point it could have been anything. I think she was thinking if I just let him go, then things will go back to normal. I mean the girl still don't have any friends. Can you imagine the hell of high school with no one to talk too. Not even your boyfriend because you guys are at different levels. So you finally get a friend (JH is not considered a friend - their relationship is more complicated than that) and your boyfriend beats him up. This episode just showed that they have a long way to go, but that they both are willing to put in the effort. If they can just control their tempers.

HAHAHA AT #112'S COMMENT WRT SLEEP DEPRIVATION
i don't really get why jun-pyo's mother would hire jae-ha to get rid of jan-di. did she know jae-ha's brother was the one who f4 targeted at the beginning of the show?

instead of focusing on how unbelievably LAME JD is in this epi, here are some of my thoughts....
1. JD looks broodingly hot in that photoshoot esp the one where she is only wearing a white shirt
2. yi jung and woo bin are still exchanging meaningful glances with each other.
3. no matter how rich JP is, he still can not afford a handphone that have on/off button- still has to take the battery out to turn the phone off
4. the best scene is where JD was doing delivery with that guy with the cute background music
5. JH is still a dream... KHJ is the prettiest male celebrities in korea (according to a recent poll. and some people above says that his character is the one that still makes sense in this epi... YES!!!!
TO THE WORLD!!!!!
(heh heh...i'm a newly converted 'Ssangchu couple' fan)

RANT:
lo and behold...i've waited...patiently waited for this episode...and to my dismay!
1. Come'on we're like living in the 21st century where even no-brainers...hmmm, scratch that, even self-proclaimed virgins, know the fine line between what is pornographic to what is not! But I'm guessing, Jandhi the "virgin", thought at that point in time, she was like Alice in wonderland, enjoying her mad tea party and celebrating her unbirthday with 2 deranged strangers...just that in the real world *her real world* she was already trapped in a room filled with stuff, suggesting, NO, SHOUTING AT HER, that she's in a "pervert land" that she should've run or that a tough cookie like her should've thought that something's hitting the fan!... *what was the "writer" thinkin'.... !?!*
2. Make-up artists: Hello they're not shooting for the Twilight sequel here... ugh!
3. Thought the guy, Jung Eui-chul, he's a good actor, well, compared with KHJ, just look at their eyes and you'll see the difference..the former when he stares he's like connecting with the viewers as well. There's impact, there's story...there's rage and passion! but KHJ no matter how he widens or shrinks his eyes--all you see is effort! plain effort--- nothing else!
3. I still have MadamKang-gphobia!
4.This JP-JD-JH triangle still aint working for me. No matter how the PD tries to squeeze some unnecessary scenes like emergency button, i'm-making-JP-choclates-but-im-thinking-of-JH, please-don't-make-me-regret-not-pursuing-you...not feeling any of em...
5. But..patient shrimp's still looking forward in seein' what's comin this epi 12..13..14.. *yeah you get my point*...i need to see the light once again!

ah the frustration.....
The only character that is consistent in episode 11 is Ji Hoo.
What did they do to Jan Di? A strong female lead- smart, kick butt, and very realistic is turn into a spineless damsel in distress. I agree that this version suppose to focus on Jan DI as a character, and its her story not the F4. That's pretty eye candy.
If you read the Manga, you will understand Jan Di's character but WTH, it's like two writers for the script. One is responsible for Jan Di's Character development and the other Jun Pyo.
This episode have so much potential especially the Jae-Ha character and Jan Di.
The science classroom scene...which high school student will sit ideally by waiting for class when no one is there and play around with the science instruments? The "real" Jan Di character will go to administration and ask about class and whether it's being cancel or check her email for a notice change. Then being trapped she didn't grab something from the science room to break the glass? Like the chair? Stool? At least show Jan Di trying to safe herself after finding herself lock in. What's more ridiculous is before fainting, she push the fire alarm....thinking about other students...yeash. Why didn't she push that in the beginning? Then grab a stool, break the glass or at least attempt to and out of exhaustion faint from the gas.
She's a proactive, seize opportunity, take things in her hand kinda lady. This IS her main ATTRACTION. Not looks or money but personality...sheesh Korean writers.
This is why Jun Pyo likes her because she is strong, and he admires that. She shows regardless of her circumstances, she will fight and win. Jun Pyo although with his rich background is controlled and tailored by his mother without freedom of will. This is why he likes Jan Di. Jan Di represent something he like to become and thus the attraction.
It's like episode 11's script is in mid stage of revision but due to drama schedule they went ahead and air it.
Gauel and Kim Bum...so first he brush her off during valentine and now she gives him an arm warmer? Then he at the beck and call of Jun Pyo approach her again with cake and smile his sweet smile? First I like Gauel because she is smart. So, if the guy only sees you as an acquaintance do you go through the trouble of giving him something again? Choppy choppy. They should just let Gauel be in the restaurant working and Kim Bum hearing the news of her birthday, came to the restaurant to give her a cake. Then her surprise because it's not her birthday and naturally misunderstood Kim Bum. BUT, she will cautiously tread around him since she got burn with previous guys she dated. So she will not easily trust the next one.
Ah....I shall go and get a drink...such a terrible episode.
