Terroir to follow Tazza
by javabeans
Terroir is a drama I’ve been hearing about for months, but which has finally been given an airdate — it follows Tazza on SBS and will premiere in early December.
The drama stars Han Hye-jin (Jumong) and Kim Joo-hyuk (My Wife Got Married), and is based in the world of wine; the word terroir is a winemaking term:
Terroir: “French for ‘soil’ and used in the phrase gout de terroir (‘taste of the soil’) to refer to the earthy flavor of some wines. When French wine producers use the term terroir, it not only includes reference to the type of soil, but also to other geographic factors that might influence the quality of the finished wine like altitude, position relative to the sun, angle of incline, and water drainage.” –Epicurious
Terroir, like Gourmet and I Love You (both also SBS dramas), is a drama that has been produced in advance. It has been in the works for the last two years, and recently finished its location shoot in Bordeaux, France, in October.
Han Hye-jin recently wrote in an online post, “The filming atmosphere was fantastic. The drama is cheery and bright, and the story will have you laughing.”
Terroir bumps out the previously scheduled drama Lord of Study to follow Tazza on Mondays and Tuesdays after that drama was delayed with contract and filming difficulties. Episode 1 airs December 1.

Han Hye Jin is alive!
“The filming atmosphere was fantastic. "
Translate: "We were wasted through the entire show. RECOMMEND!!!"
For an entire show, it'll be difficult to convey the world of winemaking and wine spectatordom (wine porn just ain't the same yo!!) without smell-o-vision or beer goggles.
Loved Sideways (Merlot haters can suck it!!) though. The beauty of oenophilia is that it not only reflects a sensibility of foodmaking, but a way of community and relationship with the earth. That, you can write about extensively and romantically in a drama. Someday I'm going to own me some wine country property and I'll eat fried chicken and drink Cabernets with Thomas Keller everyday.
I don't know about the potential chemistry between Kim Joo-hyuk and Han Hye Jin, but it's lovely to see KJK in a new show. He's just a lovely partner to have, especially when your inebriated self sees four of them at once.

Happy to know that Kim Joo Hyuk is in a new drama, but I wish the lead actress is someone else.
Loved sideways too.

I didn't know this drama had completed production.
Will be looking out for this one.
The irony about Sideways is that the Chateau Cheval Blanc Miles prized so dearly is mostly merlot (or, at least, half - don't know the exact percentage). ;)
California vs. French merlot. There's just no comparison. :P

@sevenses + chajjye,
It's not so much I like alcohol, as alcohol likes me. So, in that sense, you two ought to be proud! Anyway, I'm definitely looking forward to Alcoholics In Paris -- both Han Hye Jin and Kim Joo-hyuk look like people that would enjoy a good glass of purple. Also, Bordeaux is in the south part of France, just beautiful country. Presumably most of the drama takes place in the spring and summer, which would be a welcome ciesta for a winter audience.

Been to several vineyards and winery here and there, and the atmosphere was truly fun-tastic & romantic esp in September and October season where the grapes are being harvested!. Looking forward to enjoy this wine themed drama flavored with humor. Hope Terroir will increase my appreciation for wine tasting during the upcoming holiday season, Merry Christmas!
