Promoting his drama with a come-hither stare
by javabeans
Is it just me, or does the cast of Strongest Chil Woo look like they just stepped out of the pages of a Sears catalog (come see the softer side!)? With a hangover? Such pretty ladies, such unflattering styling.
Anyway, when I first heard about this upcoming fusion historical series, I was kinda tired of the genre and the concept. But now that Iljimae has started and utterly lost me a mere three episodes in — though I seem to one of the vast minority who took the red pill on that one — I’m actually starting to look forward to Chil Woo. It looks like a total fluff drama — but at least a fun one. And at the end of the day, I want entertainment.
The cast had their press day on June 4 in Seoul, and those in attendance included stars Eric (aka Moon Jong Hyuk) and Gu Hye Sun, as well as supporting actors Lee Eon, Kim Byul, Yoo Ah In, Im Ha Ryong and Jeon No Min.
The drama airs next week on June 9 on KBS2. Here’s the preview trailer — anyone else feeling shades of Back to the Future with the makeshift boarding?

I also got whiffs of the opening market scene from The Duelist (Hyeongsa) as well. Come to think of it, lots of these dramas/movies have "opening market scenes". What's up with that?

I clicked into the soompi Strongest Chil Woo thread yesterday and I saw a picture of a masked man who looked like zorro. It took me 5 minutes to realize that it was Eric. Anyways, Eric and Lee Eun are well dressed. I don't know what Go hye sun and Kim Byul were thinking.

As much as I love Eric, I think he's a pretty decent actor and very good looking, I just can't help but want to slap the smugness out of his smile.

I took a pass on Iljimae fter your damning, yet hilarious, review of the first episode. The trailer from the Strongest Chil Woo does seem like it's going to be fun, and I also agree with the other posters that Eric is both HOT and a decent actor.
And ditto on the 'what were they thinking' sentiment for the ladies in the pictures - they look like their suffering from a dual case of static cling.

No kidding, what's with the ladies outfits. I am always sadden to see such pretty pretty girls in hideous ensembles. But MeOW, Eric, come hither indeed.
Looking forward to this series.

I don't think the girls are pretty enough for Eric. He looks so HOT in that suit and the girls are in the ugliest dress and hat ever. What an outdated design...

Add me to the list of people that think Eric looks HOT, LOL ^^ I really dislike Goo Hye Sun and Kim Byul's outfits! But oh well, at least they won't be wearing that in the drama, kekeke...

Eric...aging like a fine wine... count me in. I couldn't even see the ladies or their clothes (except for the one gal in the hideous blue must be really small to be so short while wearing such massive heels)

Really I wouldn't know what to do with Eric if he's next to me wearing that little smiley face of his ---- bite him, kiss him, hug him, pinch him? I don't know! He's just lovable to the max!! Melica, you are right. Eric is aging like a fine wine. Sigh>>>>>> (I also didn't notice the girls, they were non existent next to my little sweety!) BEAUTIFUL IN MY EYES!

Huh. That's not the trailer I saw - the one I saw was much darker. Guess there's more than one floating around.
Honestly? I'm just looking forward to this for the Oh Man Seok cameo. Yes, I am giving in to the fangirl in me. (Sorry, Eric does nothing for me.)
As for Goo Hye Sun and Kim Byul...I have the biggest girl!crushes on these lovely ladies, but...What WERE they thinking? Someone needs to hire new stylists for them, pronto.

Kim Byeol... the hair... and that... thing. Mama. 코디 좀 바꾸시지. And is Gu Hye Sun shooting an ad for Little Women or something. ㅋㅋ
The show? Disaster waiting to happen. Bad cast (Lee Eon? Im Ha Ryong? Jeon No Min? In a... sageuk? The first can't even act on contemporary dramas, second is a comedian turned... half assed actor, third has zero charisma, and the list continues), even worse writer and producer. The day they stop with the "anybody can do fusion sageuk" farce we can start dancing. Save for Kim Un Kyung's new Daily Drama and sporadic spurts of decentness on King Sejong, KBS has been utterly ridiculous this year. After that 2007.... mama.

I saw the one with Zorro-ish Chil wo (Eric) trailer. I can't help it but to feel, it's going to be a second iljimae! (btw, I think iljimae is a silly drama ^^)

I hope the show won't turn out to be a disaster. We have enough disasters in real life, I can skip disasters in my tv-series life.
But, besides Eric looking good as usual, I am not sure what is the pull for this series. I surely can't watch an entire series just for eye-candy. Since Eric delayed his military for this series and said he chose this series due to its script, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and shut up before I comment on the quality of the series!

Eric is darn HOT & good looking. He's always well dressed.
The laddies? pass please. They could have picked a better outfit. The dress, the shoe, the hair, the accessories, not thing works for me. At least they're better dressed in the drama!!
Too bad no one is taking on the subbing for this drama yet.
I'm looking forward to the Korean Zorro any way.

I must have a thing for mediocre singers turned actors (YKS is my fave) because I like Eric from QSS and would give this drama a looksy just for him.

Eric Mun... one word... HOT! Ep. 1 of Chilwoo's alright with me. Hope the next episodes will get better and better.
Oh my dear Hye Sun and Byul! As if Hye Sun's dress wasn't bad enough, she just had to put that hideous hat on! tsk tsk tsk! And Byul's dress/milkmaid outfit, no part of it can salvage the look she was going for. Ok maybe the shoes can! That was the only thing I was seeing that I liked! lol
