They’d better hope third time’s the charm
by javabeans
Let’s choose to look at this positively and not as a sign of trouble, shall we?
MBC’s long-awaited When Night Comes may have been garnering buzz for its lead stars Kim Sun Ah and Lee Dong Gun, but it’s had far less luck hanging on to its supporting actors. First, Lee Soo Kyung dropped out abruptly after filming had already commenced in Japan to headline the cast of her own drama, the upcoming Lawyers of Korea. Slated to play the third leg of the love triangle, she traded up from a supporting role in Night to a leading one in Lawyers.
Then, model-singer-actress Park Jiyoon was brought in to fill her spot, but almost as quickly as her role was announced, she suddenly pulled out of the project.
Now they’ve cast Kim Jung Hwa to mix up the budding romance between the two leads; her character is described as an overtly sexy woman who manages to also convey a cute and lovable appeal. Frankly, I think her image is a better fit for the description than Lee Soo Kyung as a “sexy fox” type seductress — Lee’s past roles have been more cute and cheery — although Park Jiyoon’s image also works.
With only about two weeks left till the series airs (June 16 premiere), hopefully this is the drama’s final cast shakeup.

ehh. kim jung hwa. i don't think she looks korean at all. i dunno what it is, but her looks separate from all the other actresses. whatever. i wish lee sookyung didn't drop the drama. she just lost some points with me, and she's even one of my favs. ehhh. anyways, thanks javabeans. you're my only source of entertainment news aside from popseoul's commentary on all things superficial and KBS World's three week old Entertainment Weekly. :)

Only 2 weeks left? Wow, talk about last minute.
So her character will be on later in the drama? I didn't think it was possible to film in just 2 weeks time.

Saw her in 1% of Anything and abandoned the series after ep 14 (yeah, I tried very, very hard to finish). Her mannerisms and facial expressions told me she would be glorious as a 2nd female lead, you know, the cunning, conniving and bad girl who makes trouble for the first two leads.

I've always liked Kim Jung Hwa but yeah, she's always been better suited for a supporting role. I'm actually looking forward to seeing this drama since the cast seems pretty promising. I personally have never been drawn to Lee Dong Gun...there's something about him that irks me. But the female roles peek my interest...I wonder if and who they'll cast for the supporting male role to fill out the love "square"! :)

Lee Soo Kyung made the right decision. GIrl has the potential to be a lead actress so why waste her talents on a supporting role. As for Park Ji Yoon, I wonder why she pulled out at last minute. It's not like she's done a drama in while or has any other drama offers. But regardless, I like Kim Jung Hwa and I agree that she fits the role very well. She also looks good with Lee Dong Gun. Hopefully no more last minute changes and filming goes well. Lee Dong Gun has suffered from too many depressing things this year, hopefully this drama won't be another one of them. Lee Dong Gun Hwaiting!!

O.o They've recasted?
You're right. Lee Soo Kyung doesn't have that seductress look. She COULD, because I think her face has a very innocent look. If she can make her eyes be seductive and scheming, the innocent feel can work to her adventage....But previous roles and image-wise right now, Park Ji Yoon fits and Kim Jung Hwa fits even more. They have that elongated seductive "oh, me?" look already....lol. Not that I mean that in a bad way or anything. They look cute, but a lot less innocent than Lee Soo Kyung.
Lee Soo Kyung has the ability to be a lead actress, whereas the others have a bit more..length to go? Though I don't think it would've been bad for her to do this. Get more experience, ie. How to stand out and be sympathetic while supporting, how to play a different type of role....But there's the risk of backlash, and maybe her role just sucked. :P
I'm still wondering whether I'm going to watch this or not.....Hm...I've seen too many romantic shows lately I'm sort of sick of them.

Oh wow, Kim Jung Hwa, I love her in 1 % and snowwhite , she's just talented ; so sad she 's been acting as the supporting role now, why ? Hope to see KJH back in the leading role . Even I love her, still don't want to see her in this role . Money of warfare, TLC, ...... enough for supporting role,
BTW thanks for the pic. KJH looks so stunning pretty . Gosh , miss her like crazy
