Hong Gil Dong staffers pray for success
by javabeans
Comedic fusion historical drama Hong Gil Dong has an airdate! (It’s January 2, 2008, on KBS2.)
On the set location on the 3rd, actors Kang Ji Hwan, Sung Yuri, and Jang Geun Seok offered up prayers and spiritual rites in hopes that their filming will progress safely and successfully. Crew members and the drama’s PD, Lee Jung Seob, as well as reps from the production company Olive Nine, also participated.
Can we call something “highly anticipated” just ’cause I’m the one highly anticipating it? I think so.

Yay!! You're finally excited about an upcoming sageuk. I guess because it has Kang Ji Hwan in it, which is never a bad thing. Hope you'll like it enough to do an episode by episode review because I know I'll be glued to the series. (ok, I hope as I've liked everything he's done so far.)

COMPLETELY off topic...but talking abt highly anticipated: Tablo and Pe2ny's Eternal Morning! (highly anticipated by me ;)) LOVE IT! Have you had a chance to check it out? I love each of the pieces, though am still trying to figure out some of them...like the holden caulfield instrumental isn't exactly what I expected. Its so unique, creative, and rich...just makes me love Tablo and his talent even more.
Sorry for the derailing...listening to it and just had to rave! Oh, and I'm looking forward to Hong Gil Dong too. Never seen Kang Ji Hwan's work before so should be very interesting. Who's subbing?

just wanna ask...
this pig head, money offerings and the bowing is a buddhist ritual, right?
i thought sung yu ri is a christian and i am surprise to see her participate in such. or is she doing this for the media?
i might be wrong tho....

Yeah! They need to pray real hard because Sung Yuri needs all the prayers she can get to save the series from her bad acting.

Ooooohh, Kang Ji Hwan, Kang Ji Hwan! Yes, definitely "highly anticipated." His role in Capital Scandal assures me that he will absolutely do the Hong Gil Dong role justice. I was also impressed with his acting in 90 Days, Falling in Love Days (or whatever that title was supposed to be).
As for Sung Yuri, most of her roles have indeed been unimpressive. And yes, she is one of those actresses who kisses like a dead fish, but I did like her spunk in Thousand Years of Love, so maybe this will be the vehicle for her. Let's give her a chance. After all, it's the Hong sisters.
Fusion. Sageuk. 'nuff said. I'm in.

Hi and xoxo
my sister and I are int the process of completing are series of Hong Gildong. It is compeletely amazing..missed quite a few episodes in the beginning, but I regularly watch it now adays. I think that Kang Ji Hwan is completely amazing...I love his acting skills...his is very cool....and I love sung Yuri's acting in it...I have heard quite a few things about him that she used to be not a very good actor, but I really lked her acting in this show...I have a request...if any one can tell me where can I watch the beginning episodes of the show with english subtitles. I would be really glad if some one would tell me...thankyou so much and Hong Gildong's team keepo up the good work...
