Follow-up: Anyband full video and mp3s
by javabeans
Wow, stuff spreads fast. Here’s the video for Anyband. (It’s hard to believe this is essentially just supposed to be an extended commercial. Seriously, branded entertainment has made the leap to the next level.)
…and here are the two songs (sigh, I love Tablo). Despite not generally favoring mainstream kpop, I think I like. Interesting how you get four completely different artists, and you can hear all of them within the songs, rockin’ their own thang.
SONG(s) OF THE DAY

Yay! I heard some people didn't like the song because it was too "Americanized." But I like it. It's interesting. And the first thing I thought of when I saw the music video was the movie 'Equilibrium.' I loved the whole 'four friends against the dystopian city' theme. Ooh, and Xiah and Tablo looked gooooooood.
I am now rocking to the song on my iPod.
[I wondered if anyone else noticed but the computer that Tablo used to communicate with the other people looked EXACTLY like the computer in LOST. Did anyone notice? Maybe I'm just a rabid LOST fan looking for a fix before February. The new season awaits!]

Interesting...If the stars are so caring about Brave New, 1984ish dystopias...I wonder why they're not so proactive about their neighbors to the North???

the entire commercial feels homogeneous... unlike hyori's. its good enough, but i prefer the plot/story line of the 1st 3 anycall commercials.

Interesting video, but what took the authorities so long to stop them when they were performing live? :p

ahaha....not bad!
Although, I feel like they, by consequence of popularity I guess :P, focused too much on BoA and forgot about poor Jin Bora, I actually enjoyed that "commercial." Tablo got the whole hacker/guiter-stealing moment and is clearly pining after the "main girl" (BoA)....and Xiah got the spotlight for a few minutes singing with BoA.
I guess I got my hopes up too high when there was yet a trace of romance to be seen till the last 10 seconds of what I thought was was actually going to be MUSIC based commercial --- then Tablo & BoA started sharing 'the look' and Tablo says the oft said line heard in many a drama, "I'll take care of you, I promise." Admittingly, it leaves a lot of material for the next few AnyBand commericals but...all Bora and Xiah got her perfunctory hugs :(
I never knew about Jin Bora till now but her piano playing was amazing (if a little understated compared to BoA & Xiah's singing). I don't know if she sings but even w/o, she stole the show for me.

It's Equilibirum part deux.
I guess that's what happens when you use actual singers as oppose to someone who is just eye candy (hyori). Nice song too.

Hm, I don't get the "Americanized" complaint/comment... Perhaps it was said by someone who doesn't know much about Korean music aside from mainstream kpop? Korean rock is its own growing genre now, and "Anyband" has a rock flair to it so I don't get a particularly Americanized vibe.
I'm partial to the second song; nice tight harmonies between Boa and Junsu.
(And perhaps the authorities didn't catch them quickly because secretly they liked the music? LOL. My favorite part is when the guard kicks over the soccer ball to the other guard, and they realize it's kinda fun, then run off to play soccer as their locked-up charges run out.)

Tablo baby, have you ditched us for the mainstream? Well, heck it's all about the cha-ching, no?
All this need for attention, the yearning to be heard and recognized and what is it we're all shouting about once the attention we seek has been entertained? *clears throat* "are you depressed? Stuck in the monotony of the mundane? Do you lack individuality? The answer my friends is; technology. An over priced high-tech phone ladies and gents, so get on your rooftops and scream your asses off all the way to the bank people!"
Lol, where's my 'remapping the human soul' cd? *_*

I don't like BoA herself, but I do acknowledge and appreciate her muscial talent. Some of her songs are okay, others I just turn off after the first minute. It's just every time I look at her, I think of a plastic Barbie. =/ Just a personal thing that I have, haha.
But that commercial. was amazing. It was definitely worth the 10 minutes of watching it, hahahahaha. TPL will be the next most played song on my iTunes, hahahaha.

I actually thought the music was pretty well done, but the actual CF itself was pretty cheesy. It started off well as a conditioned utopian society with four friends trying hard to reverse its world...and then just turns into this...loosely music renowned warped kind of world in two seconds. I expected more resistance, haha. But it's refreshing not to see Hyori for once (sorry, girl) and see musicians with actual talent. Overall, amazing matchup.

I predict very good sales for anycall. o_o
Anyband should be a real band, very nice team up.
I usually can't stand BoA's voice, but it worked well in these songs.

Wow! It's such a cool advertising campaign! I realise that advertisements nowadays tend to invoke a kind of entertainment and lifestyle in it....not just purely marketing tactics. But also blend into the consumers' lifestyle.
TPL is my no. 1 song on my player now ^^ Go Tablo!

well the 'commercial' was okay for me
cool storyline, and i like the use of cellphones but it didnt seem very commercially
lol to the person who was looking for the little bit of romance, i thot of that 'look' more as in "we made it" since they are childhood friends fighting for a cause
regardless of anything (the whole video can go POOF for all i care) the SONGS ARE AMAZING! especially TPL

This didn't seem like much of a commercial which possibly makes it the cutest commercial I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing it (and the mp3's) with us. I have to say that TPL is really catchy and I couldn't stop myself from jamming. It'll probably be stuck in my head all day too.
