Much as I was defending Aera last episode, does she really believe she’ll suffer any less if she keeps on hanging around him, even if they’re not actively dating??
That said i figure shell realize she will worry anyway because it’s hard to forget someone you’ve known and loved your whole life, and will decide to be by his side anyway.
I’m actually applauding Aera for her decision to distance herself from Dongmans fighting dreams. She saw what happened to her grandma and has the right to look after her own mental health.
then she should have never gotten involved with him in the first place back in Ep 8 or so. She’s his BFF, she knows what this means to him and what his job/life is like w/o fighting, but instead she’s making unrealistic demands that he change who he is for her. I think this is a really immature stance to take with a relationship and someone (Seolhee?) needs to slap some reality into her.
I see it differently, I think she just didn’t realize how hard it would be until she got a taste first hand and realized she couldn’t do it. The ultimatum she gave him was more to show him where she stands: if he’s going to keep fighting, she’s not going to stick around to see him get hurt. I think she understands his dreams, but to her they seem incompatible with her mental health while she’s with him. It’s a mature reason to leave a relationship because your life is taking a different route, and you don’t agree with their life choices. That said, I think she underestimates how attached to him she really is. She’s never going to be able to distance herself from him.
This is really a lovely way at explaining this perspective. Some times people expect that the way their own minds and emotions work would be the same way everyone’s would work. Mental Health is important. We have to be our own advocate before we can encourage/help others. Everyone is allowed to speak their minds and change their minds. Ae-Ra spoke hers and so do Dong Man. They’re adults and made choices for their own lives. We don’t know the future only the moment we are in. Annnyways this was a big struggle for them both. Struggle can bring strength.
A little late to the party, but I wanted to say that its different (not the relationship or level of love from friend to more than friends, but the difference in what you think you can handle and what you actually can handle). She thought she could handle it. She told him that she would be fine with MMA just not the TakSu fight because TakSu was going to fight dirty.
And then he fought TakSu who fought really, really friggin’ dirty. AeRa did the interview with that MMA guy and learned that nope. What she thought she could handle and what she could actually handle are two very different things.
Show I love you and your winsome characters in so many ways.
But I mourn what you could have been…
But I guess I can’t blame a show for not being groundbreaking.
Can I?
THAT TRAILER FOR THE NEXT DRAMA THOUGH.
Yeo Jin Gu come back to meeee
but no amount of him will fill up the woo-jin shaped hole in my heart

Kdrama characters: instead of going ‘I have something to tell you’, just say what you want to say already.
Because you will always get interrupted right after. Always.
Ugh this! So true!
It also bugs me when a character is about to eat a delicious mouth-watering meal, and they get interrupted. Every. Single. Time. I wish they would just take the food with them and eat on the way!
Omg yessssss to foooodddddd being left unfinished or even touched like why did you order those refreshing smoothies and drinks if you weren’t gonna drink it and was just gonna leave right after talking whhhhyyyyyy
Also,
– when characters make food for special occasions and end up not eating it bc something happens
Yes! Not just food! But also all kinds of wonderful drinks and snacks that just leaves me salivating! All just left untouched! How could they tease us so?
I always wonder what happens to the food, if they eat it, and/or if someone else eats it.
One scene that I’ll always remember is from Boys Before Flowers where Geum Jan-di prepared an entire cute and thoughtful picnic lunch for Gu Jun-pyo and like, it never saw the light of day. I forgot what happened (maybe she got kidnapped or got hurt? One of those), but I was like, “Man! I really wanted to see his reaction to the rice she made to look like his face!” That’s another thing that gets me–when I’m anticipating certain characters’ reactions and it just doesn’t happen. I’ll never know!
Btw, please tread carefully in the BEANIES section bc I made some spoilery Ruler posts.
Ha, I’m pretty sure the camera men and staff and crew of the shows do eat the food! As long as I know the food doesn’t go to waste… unless it’s not even real food… dun dun DUNNNNNNN!
You’re welcome for the warning! You’re a smart cookie for reacting so quick!
What really bugged me this time around was that when he told her that at the office, it seemed like she was the only other one there. Why not tell her then!? Plus, if the situation is really weird, the poor girl is going to be out of her mind trying to figure out what he wants to talk about. You think she’s going to get any work done!?
And I hope Bong Hee finds her confidence, stops moping and becomes the self-reflecting, self-improving, persistent and taekwondo-kicking badass she was at the beginning of the show.
I wish Bong Hee and prosecutor girl could have a real friendship. Their relationship seemed so promising! And whether they get along has nothing to do with the baggage the boys have with her.
SP time! The question is now, is this real amnesia or not…?
Is he faking it? We all know hes great at acting??
But it is true there seems to be no point in punishing someone who doesn’t remember…
I protest against plot driving random lobotomies! Let our female leads be written as complete people!
Bong Hee is strong, honest and persistent. Why would she give up so easily each time??
This sbow has done reasonably well for kdrama standards when it comes to communication, mostly coming from Ji Wook, but why must Bong Hee always have these incomprehensible noble idiocy tendencies??
I can’t remember the last time someone said “Oh Gee I really hope our two main characters have an interconnected past that will result in lots of angst neither party wished for.”
“Let’s stop blaming ourselves.”
Kdramas can learn from this, no more blaming yourself for everything that goes wrong and no more noble idiocy please and thank you!
