I can understand why they’d be disappointed by the ratings, but I hope the actors themselves realise that with a drama like that, there are opportunities that are more important than the hype of high ratings brings.
Since the School 2017 casting was reported, many of the actors have already confirmed their casting in their next project (Park Sewan, Seo Jihoon, Jang Dongyoon) or finished a project (Kim Heechan, Jang Dongyoon again). Even if this drama itself isn’t successful when measured by ratings, it has already put them on the map which is so important for rookies’ careers.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. The fact that there are so many Tae monikers speaks not only to how much of a beloved character Tae-woon became but also to how capable an actor Kim Jung-hyun is. I really do expect great things from him in the future. Even though the show was not a ratings powerhouse, Jung-hyun has a company of fans who really seem to be taken by him. I don’t think he should feel bad that he got the most attention though. It was a product of the script and his good acting. Having said that, it’s good that his ego is in check–or so he says–so he mightn’t do anything too foolish in the near future.
