Every character in Forest of Secrets deserves a standing ovation, but this is a shout-out to Yoo Jae Myung in particular, for perfectly portraying Lee Chang-jun as a character who was always on the fence, unreadable and unknowable till the end.
I genuinely cried in this scene, despite the vile things LCJ might’ve done. I could feel his shame and pain. This was fantastically filmed and acted, with all those close ups, the sheen of tears in both Shi-mok and Chang-jun’s eyes. I knew what was coming the moment Shi-mok showed up and I was holding my breath the entire time, but I stilled gasped out of shock when it happened.
I already expected what happen next (special thanks to the traumatic Lookout experience), but it was still shocking to see it happened. Now thanks to this, I have 2 traumatic experiences with half-done buildings.
I haven’t watched Lookout, but this is the second time this year that I’ve watched someone jump to their death on a construction site, the other one was in Tomorrow With You but the character was pushed.
I guess construction sites in dramas are now on my blacklist too
That broke my heart. For both LCJ and HSM, but especially Shi-mok.
Even though he later on called LCJ a monster, he was still his role model and the one person that inspired him to be a good prosecutor. I truly felt sad for SM, bc everyone just keeps dying around him and being the person that he is, I’m sure he must’ve seen LCJ as yet another death he couldn’t prevent.
Exactly! Nodding at every word. Honestly I’m at a loss of words here because there’s just too many things to say about this Show and thinking about it makes me teary-eyed so yea. 😆

Yeah, I wonder if “death by jumping from construction sites” will eventually become the new truck-of-doom. *shiver*
