Park Hae-jin stoically endures indignities for Man to Man trailer

With a week till premiere, Man to Man has released a long trailer that gives us a better look at what we’re in for. The upcoming action-spy drama stars Park Hae-jin (Cheese in the Trap) as “a ghost operative, a shadow without a name.” For an undercover mission, he becomes the personal bodyguard of a famous stuntman-turned-actor, played by Park Sung-woong (Remember—Son’s War), but ends up in a strange love triangle with Park Sung-woong’s No. 1-fan-cum-manager, Kim Min-jung (Master of Trade—Inn 2015).

The trailer begins with Park Hae-jin as Kim Seol-woo, aiming sniper rifles, flying across rooftops, and introducing himself as a covert agent. But the next thing we know, Kim Min-jung is congratulating him for passing an interview, while he just stares blankly. In a swanky hotel suite, Seol-woo gets briefed on his next mission, which is how he ends up in the Hallyu star’s orbit.

That star is Yeo Woon-kwang (Park Sung-woong), who brags in an interview about his reasons for success: “First, because I did well, and also because of my first-rate staff.” A staff that includes Kim Min-jung, who sighs, “How can a person be so perfect?”

But of course he’s human, and we see the star making out with a woman in a car and being jerked awake by bodyguard Seol-woo. Manager Do-ha (Kim Min-jung) thinks that Seol-woo is exactly the type that Woon-kwang hates, and based on the star’s reaction, he agrees. Perhaps they aren’t allowed to fire him, because Woon-kwang and Do-ha conspire to make the job as difficult as possible to force the bodyguard to quit. Woon-kwang demands that he stay close to him 24/7, gets him to wear an embarrassing teddy bear costume, and even ropes him into rehearsing lines with him (which ends with Seol-woo declaring, “I can’t betray you, Oppa!”).

Seol-woo complains to his boss about what he’s going through, but he’s told to endure for the sake of the mission. So when Woon-kwang ignores manager Do-ha’s attempt to control his diet and runs off with a drumstick, it’s Seol-woo who catches up to him and snatches it away.

In the next few scenes, manager Do-ha explains all of the ways she finds the new bodyguard suspicious. But she wavers when he turns the full force of his charm on her, telling her that she’s pretty, buckling her seatbelt, and carrying her in his arm. He also tries to convince himself that it’s just another job and she’s just another target. But that seems far from the truth, and the trailer ends with his voiceover: “There’s something off about this mission.”

JTBC Friday-Saturday drama Man to Man will premiere on April 21.

Yes, Park Hae Jin looks freaking amazing in this drama. Not really a fan of Kim Min Jung, but I'll definitely watch it because of the entire cast is amazing.
