Han Hyo-joo’s potential movie reunion with Kang Dong-won

Han Hyo-joo (W—Two Worlds) is up to play the female lead for director Kim Jee-woon’s (The Good, The Bad, The Weird) dystopian war film Jin-roh: The Wolf Brigade. The project been the focus of much media attention because ever-popular workhorse movie star Kang Dong-won (Master) has been attached to it since nearly four years ago.

While the original Japanese animation was set in a post-World War II military state, this Korean adaptation is set in an alternate universe where North and South Korea have been preparing for the past seven years for reunification. However, there’s an anti-unification faction fighting against the tide, contributing to overall political unrest. Kang Dong-won will be the male lead who is a young cop, and Jung Woo-sung (The King) was recently offered the role of a higher-ranking officer on the police force.

If Han Hyo-joo confirms, she’ll be playing a character named Lee Yoon-hee, whose backstory is still vague as of yet. The only thing we do know is that she has a sister with the nickname Red Hat. The person playing this role will be chosen in an audition process, open to both established actresses and rookies alike.

Han Hyo-joo and Kang Dong-won are actually currently working on a different project together, Golden Slumber, which is a political manhunt movie about a delivery boy who is framed for an influential figure’s assassination. It’s hard to say what their chemistry will be like because I haven’t actually seen them working together. But they’re so charismatic individually that that they have to be good together… right?

Alternate-reality action film Jin-roh: The Wolf Brigade will start filming during the latter half of this year.

HHJ's acting is polarizing to some, but I really loved her role in "The Beauty Inside!" W was a bit hit-or-miss and it lost a lot of its charm near the end but she was still alright in that as well

I think she's better in movies than drama, W was great as a concept but turned into a mess in the next half even LJS wasn't in his best performance there, for me the only shining stars in W was dad and his assistant (forgot his name).

True that she is good in movies! When I was binging kmovies(after which I fell into the rabbit hole of kdramas), I loved her in the movie with So ji sub where she was blind. Then was impressed by her performance in Heaven's postman too. Also watched her movie with LBH where she played the sad queen. But it was the movie Love 911 that got through me real hard. Her chemistry with Go Soo and her confident portrayal of doctor made me have a girl crush on her. Especially the scene where she tries reviving an almost dead person.

After 4 years when I saw her in W, as much as I loved the premise, I was left wondering whether I was watching the same HHJ. Really felt her acting weird and unnatural in it. I wish she gets a role where she can be the girl I think I know!

i'm going to have to agree with you on the polarizing...
i don't completely dislike her nor adore. she's a hit or miss with me now. i did like her in heaven's postman and she was okay in W. Completely agree about the loss of charm! That drama was a mess from about middle to end for me.

i wonder if we will see kang dong won in a drama again...

for me HHJ is so bad in W. I still cringe till now remember it. and she is also bad in loves lies, completely get outshined by choi woo hee. has no idea how to convey the dark side of her char. the only movie I've watched when she is decent at best is in cold eyes and masquarade for me

Chun Woo-hee, Han Ye-ri, Kim Ok-bin, Jung Yu-mi, Son Ye-jin are Chungmuro's talented and solid actresses in the early 30s pool. I liked Han Hyo-joo in Masquerade but Shim Eun-kyung was the one that stood out to me.

W was my first time watching HHJ, and it was hard for me to watch her... the whole time it just seemed so obvious that she was acting, but I watched Beauty Inside after and I was so impressed by her and her chemistry with all those men! Now I can see the appeal.

That said - LJS wasn't impressive in W either. I also felt like he was acting and everything just seemed too forced.

How did HHJ become one of the most loved actress to one of the most hated? For me, I last watched her in Dong Yi and found her really good there, but now all I see are bashing from Knetz and also criticism from i-netz. Did her acting skills regress?

Beats me. W's quality wasn't consistent and it's definitely not her acting that did that.

Aw, HHJ is my favorite actress. She's incredibly versatile but always somehow makes me feel for her characters and connect with them. Loved her particularly in W and Love, Lies.

All the yes.
What I really like about HHJ is that she clearly tries different genres. Some are hit-or-miss (Iljimae...ugh) and some like Beauty Inside are amazing. I also actually liked her in Love Lies.
I feel like she's one of those actresses who are actively trying to find projects that help improve her acting range. Idk. Just a feeling. I can't wait to see KDW in smth new

Han Hyo-joo and Kang Dong Won will look so good on screen, that without even seeing them acting together I wish they could become a real-life couple. Their personalities, age and other circumstances would make them a perfect couple.
Is there anyone who agrees with me?

Wow, didn't know she was so polarizing! I guess I'm in the camp where I wuv wuv wuv her! She's one of my favorite actresses, ever since I saw her in Shining Inheritance (Brilliant Legacy). That was such a wild and fun drama. I also liked her in C'est Si Bon, as well as The Beauty Inside, and other movies as well. I guess I'm a big fan of hers :)

I'm in the same camp as you! I've liked her since Shining Inheritance (she pulled off her permed short hair so well that it inspired me to get a short hair cut too but it did not look the same sadly... Side note but her hair in W was also damn goals).

Anyways, when I saw this I thought it was repost of the news of her current movie with Kang Dong Won but it's a different project. Maybe it means they've got good chemistry which is why the Chungmuro circles want them reunited asap? It'd also be a reunion between her and Jung Woo Sung if he signs on right? They were in Cold Eyes together I believe - I just remember that Running Man Ep where he threw her under the bus and was like it's okay we don't have a love line. That was hilarious - Jung Woo Sung is so good looking but also has a great sense of humour.

They've actually had history together acting as they were both in the beauty inside and another movie about Geisha something something - can't remember but he left her for another woman and she was vengeful. That's all i remember

Everytime I see Han Hyo-joo I see Juhi Chawla in her, am I the only one?!

I like Han her and I think she did good in W but I do agree that she does better in movies than in drama.

I just have to leave a comment since I am totally flabbergasted on how anyone can dislike W Two Worlds story and the acting. It was amazing. The plot wasn't the usual story we have always seen in the kdrama. The effects and cinematography was top notch. The twist and turns made the people think and crave for the next episode. It was fast paced and no dull moments; they made you cry, smile, laugh, angry, scared and happy.

Lee Jong Suk portrayal of a manwha character who suddenly realize that he isn't even a true person and everything he believed in was just the result of someones writing was so touching. I can feel every anguish and pain that his character went through.

Han Hyo Joo. . . A lot of people said her acting here was over and usually exaggerated. That's hilarious. Since her character should be portrayed with extreme emotion of shock and dumbfounded which she perfectly did. After all the storyline was where suddenly her character realized that she can go to a fictional world where she can either make or break things for the people there.

Just recently this series became the inly korean drama series to win an award inwinning a prestigious international event and that just proved everything. That award would not be given if the show and the acting flopped.

I know at the end of the day everyone's taste vary. Look at DOFTS with its high ratings but with no plot whatsoever. Lol.
