Name That Drama: Gravesite farting and generous snipers
by HeadsNo2
As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.
- Goin’ international
I requested this a while back, but it seems it was never published. But I really want to know and find this drama.
It’s a Chinese drama I watched years ago with a pair of twins who got separated at birth. The twins are the children of a rich governor. One of the twins was switched with another baby girl, and the twin now lives with a poor single mother. The crown prince falls in love with the “rich” twin but she ends up dying in front of him (I think her death has something to do with falling off a running horse or something like that) and the “poor” twin is also in love with him, but he kinda hates her and blames her for the other twin being dead.
But soon the prince falls in love with the remaining twin who keeps on helping him and even carried him back to the palace after he got shot by a poison arrow. They also get married in the end.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, but the “poor” twin had to sell stinky tofu in the beginning, which was her mom’s business.
- A case of being “drama” unattractive, aka an A-list star
Hi! Sorry, but I have two dramas, and I’m not sure if both are Korean either.
1) The girl farts at a grave and then she realizes it’s the wrong grave? Lol, sorry that’s literally the only thing that I remember but it’s so funny that I want to find that drama again to watch it.
2) The girl is weirdly obsessed with birds and she’s also super super nice. She’s supposed to be unattractive, but is actually super pretty, in my opinion. The second lead is also her stepbrother, which is icky I know, but they almost had like a platonic love. No kiss scene at all. He just really loved her for some reason (because she was nice to him? I can’t remember). I think she also marries the second lead too, or is about to.
- Wah, this makes the pain of 2NE1’s breakup fresh again
I can’t remember which drama this was in, but I remember watching this drama on TV around 2009-ish, and there was this scene where a woman (not the lead, but one of the side characters) was crying. And then a man, maybe her boyfriend or husband, tried to cheer her up by singing 2NE1’s “I Don’t Care.” Thank you to anyone who can identify which drama this is!
- Straight to the point
The lead girl gets frustrated for some reason with her city life, so she goes to this faraway forest where her dad lives. She also has a lot of pent-up anger, so she and her dad have a martial arts match. I also remember something about Dad wearing boxers?
The girl was young though, maybe in her 20s? I remember a few episodes later, after she returns to the city, her dad also follows her to the city, but for what reason I don’t know. I feel like it was a really funny drama, I just can’t remember more than this. WAE.
- That second one does sound super intense
I have two movie requests. They were popular around ten years ago, I remember catching a peek while my mom was watching.
The first one is in a police station. There is an unruly suspect demanding coffee (커피) from a female police officer. He eventually gets on her nerves and she eventually punches him in the nose. He ends up getting a bloody nose and says the pun-ny line “Bloody nose?” (코피, or “bloody nose” sounds similar to coffee in Korean)
The second one is a lot more intense and I think about the Japanese occupation. There are two lovers(?) and they are being held in jail. However, the woman trades the man’s freedom for hers. As he is being dragged away screaming, we see the Japanese(?) soldiers about to take advantage of her sexually.
Fast forward many years, the man is an old grandpa now and searching for this lady. The ending scene is of her on top of building threatening the police with a gun. They shoot her dead, only to find that her gun wasn’t even loaded. The old man arrives too late, and carries her lifeless body off.
Would appreciate any help. Thanks!
- How does one avoid the Truck of Doom for so long?
Last year I saw the end of a movie, and I remember laughing because it was my first meeting with the Truck of Doom:
So it was the end, and there was a sniper shooting at him, and a lot of armed men following him. A building (or part of the road) falls, but he doesn’t get hurt, and even the sniper decides to let him go. But then, when he is near the heroine, he gets killed by the white Truck of Doom.
It was very funny to me then, so I’m curious if anyone knows the title.
Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

#3 is Smile, You.
The main leads are Jung Kyung Ho and Lee Min Jung. It has about 45 episodes.
The scene written above was about JKH's father and LMJ's mother in the drama. It's quite complicated to say the whole thing but JKH's father had a crush on LMJ's mother when they were young. During that scene, LMJ's mother was upset about something and cried so JKH's father tried to cheer her up by singing the song.
This drama is just SO GOOD! I cannot emphasise on it more. I watch this drama once or twice every year for the past 5 years! Despite the 45 eps, it is so worth it..
If anyone hasn't watched this drama yet, please do! You'll love it!

I'm pretty sure the No. 3 is "Smile, you" - a family drama starring Jung Kyung Ho and Lee Min Jung. Lee Min Jung's father is the one who repeatedly sing the catchy "I dont care...." from 2ne1's "I dont care".

no 6. sounds like an early supporting role of the Truck of Doom, when it was just a rookie doing anonymous hit-and-runs. And look where it´s come now!

Just goes to show that even super star plot devices have to start somewhere, not everyone can be like Cancer and Amnesia and be employed as the plot-twist-game-changer-we-have-too-many-episodes-left device straight out of kdrama plot device school lol! Way to go Truck of Doom!

Please don't forget, the you-cant-date-coz-your'e-siblings that will turn out not to be siblings later on, so all of the angst you felt was just to tug heartstrings nd to justify a drama having 16 episodes whilst conveniently forgetting tht DNA testing exists trope, it was literally part of almost every makjang drama ever, winter sonata im looking at you

Cancer and Amnesia have their tentacles in every agency. They snatch aways so many promising villain roles. They even get chosen over Shin Sung Rok and Kim Sang Joong lately.

Hang in there Truck of Doom. It doesn't take much of a scandal to knock those villains off the plot twist pedestal. One misplaced photo of the Lotte Building in the background, one little late night supper with a plot twist of the opposite sex, and boom, your new plot twist will be how to deal with anti-fans!
