Shin Ha-kyun and Sung Joon join assassin Kim Ok-bin in new action film

Originally titled Seven Secrets, the new action-thriller film Evil Woman, described as a La Femme Nikita-esque tale about a female assassin, has secured Kim Ok-bin (Yoo-na’s Street) as its lead. The director has also changed from Hong Ki-seon to Jung Byung-gil, who created the award-winning 2012 suspense movie Confession of Murder. Similarly, this upcoming film is about a killer and the unraveling of her secrets.

Kim Ok-bin will play a trained assassin from Yanbian (a province in China with many Korean-heritage citizens). She comes to Korea and lives out her dream of having a completely normal life, until fate intervenes and her secrets are slowly unveiled. The two mysterious men in her life also have their own complicated pasts they don’t want to reveal. Shin Ha-kyun (Pied Piper) plays her mentor, the master who trains his apprentice killers in their craft. This will be Kim Ok-bin and Shin Ha-kyun’s second reunion, as they have worked together twice before in films Front Line and Thirst.

Compared to the two Chungmuro regulars, Sung Joon (Madame Antoine) is a relative movie newbie, despite having a couple films under his belt. However, he has gained many fans through drama miniseries like I Need Romance 3 and Discovery of Romance, and a supporting role in Evil Woman could be the thing that bridges his TV popularity into movie stardom. He is set to play a man with a hidden identity who watches Kim Ok-bin’s every move.

Filming has already started for suspense-action film Evil Woman, and will continue for another four months. It is planning to be released in 2017.

I agree and I've watched everything he's been in. He was better in I need romance 3. High society and madame Antoinette....... watching him was incredibly painful.

I agree I find him very dull and for me he lacks chemistry with all his female co-stars.

I am hoping he will do more than watch - for which he already has that face/look down. Now I hope there is an opportunity for more expressions and that he'll bring them out. The last two characters were little on the cold/bond up emotions side and I want to see him bust past this and really let his hair down. This may not be the project for that, but I hope the next one is.

He seems to be too cold to have a lot of face expressions, you know? That's the feeling I have. In White Christmas, (he played the role of a kid who had a brain problem which made him not having feelings) he did his best work so far, the same with the film Pluto.

He fits "cold man" characters really well, in my opinion. He wasn't made to be popular, but to be indie, which is great because he looks indie. He is a guy who should lead a crime thriller on OCN not a rom-com on SBS. That's why it literally hurts in my heart that people try to make him mainstream. From all the "model squad" he and Lee Soo Hyuk are the more unique, in my opinion, but in Korea when you are good looking you have to be popular.

I had forgotten that I've seen Kim Ok Bin and Shin Ha Kyun act together before in Thirst. It'd be cool to see a different dynamic here.

Haven't really liked Sung Joon's more recent line of work but this role seems like a return to form for him and the type of role where he's actually good. I think the everyman or the typical romantic K-Drama lead was never a good fit for him. :/

Ahh Yes! Thirst - love the A list casts in that movie. It won an award in Cannes, no surprise there.

I love Kim Ok Bin on the big screen. I think she has a black belt in Taekwondo or something like that so she can basically kick some butts here.

Kim Ok Bin is great. I think she was even in a band; she's got all sorts of things going for her. I wish I saw her in more dramas, though. I really liked her in Yoona's Street.
