Remake 1% of Anything scheduled for broadcast this fall

There’s good news and bad news about the upcoming remake of rom-com 1% of Anything. So the good news is that the drama has finally secured a broadcaster and a time slot. The not-so-amazing news is that it’s been picked up by a relatively unknown cable channel, DramaX, that usually airs drama and variety re-runs. However, the TV broadcast will be supplemented by a web release from mobile app Oksusu.
1% of Anything stars Ha Suk-jin (After the Show Ends) as a hot-headed third-generation chaebol heir and Jeon So-min (Aurora Princess) as a warm elementary school teacher. His grandfather meets Jeon So-min and is taken by her friendly and respectful demeanor, so different from his own grandson’s. Thus, the wily grandfather makes it one of the conditions in his will that Ha Suk-jin marry Jeon So-min for him to inherit the company. Romantic hijinks ensue, and the rest is drama history.
I was a huge fan of the original 1% of Anything with Kang Dong-won and Kim Jung-hwa that I’m a bit afraid for the remake. After all the press, I’d thought that this show would be picked up by one of the major cable channels like JTBC or tvN, if not the Big Three. But, the simultaneous TV and web broadcast should prove to be an interesting experiment. The Oksusu version will start airing a bit earlier with CGI effects more suited for a mobile interface, while the DramaX version is being released a week later which gives them more editing time to produce a more finished product. Double releases have been done with short drama specials and variety shows, but if this succeeds with a longer miniseries, there may be more combination formats in store for us in the future.
The 100 percent pre-produced remake of 1% of Anything will air Wednesday-Thursday on DramaX starting October 5, and on Oksusu starting September 30.

Relatively low buzz, not necessarily a bad thing. I am currently watching Blow Breeze and its a good watch so who knows maybe this will turn out beyond just being good enough.

What duh ? I haven't even seen any torrents from this station? Will viki even know to license it? And would I even get to watch and keep the episode? I am one fan who is eagerly awaiting this remake. Liked the original but it was so dated. And I actually hated KDW's clothing there. And the grandfather.
So I am hoping the new drama has less cheesy lines and make it watchable. Modern dramas are directed diffirently. Thank goodness.

I am not even remotely interested in this drama. Ha Suk-Jin cannot fit into Kang Dong-Won's shoes. Not even close.

The Kang Dong Won of now, but the KDW of before (during 1%) was a weaker/stiffer actor than the Ha Suk Jin of now. I hope that made sense.

Have you actually seen the original drama? Because I know you haven't by what you've said here.
There are no shoes to fill. Kang Dong-Won was a terrible actor in it. He's not who he is now thanks to his crap performance in that.

I love the original, didn't think the remake is a good idea. The actor is ok but actress is average, also no news of the 2nd lead. 2nd lead actress is one of my favorite in the original drama

the actress is not 2nd lead in korean drama. she is 3rd or 4th role in korean drama. but. sometimes she is 1st lead in favorless drama

Kim Jung-hwa even way back then was a class act, plus her height gave her character in the drama an appealing aura of elegance and grace..even when she was kicking the lead in the shins lol. The photo of the main actress give you more a feeling of a next door girl type, maybe that what they where looking for

The original was so infuriating I had to stop at episode 11.
I understand TV conventions and that Korean culture is different, but really! A 28 years old being given curfews, escorted to and from work and submitting without fighting.
Who are these women? Do Korean adults really live like that?

lol kdrama girls are pretty much the 'ideal' girl, rather than a real one, certainly back when this was made, though it still holds true today. So virgin at 30 always respects her elders, put family before anything else and of course once she a couple the submissive obey the man and live her life for him idea comes into it...pretty much why girls from North Korea are sort after brides for south Korean men, as they are thought to have less western/modern influence and are 'good' wifes.

I'm a huge fan of the original 1% of Anything too! To be honest, I'm not too excited about the casts for this remake, if anything they should have made it into a movie or a manhwa instead of a drama, because they will be made a direct comparison and I don't think this will win out over the original, can anyone top Kang Dong-won?

I'm also a fan of the original! I watched it I don't know how many times and even bought the series when it came out. I'm not sure about the remake though. I don't think I mind the male lead, but not so much the female lead. I don't need it to excel the original. I'm fine as long as it doesn't cause me to hate it.
