Missing each other and waiting for love On the Way to the Airport

Individual character posters and the second teaser for On the Way to the Airport have just been released. In this upcoming KBS melodrama, Kim Haneul (A Gentleman’s Dignity) and Lee Sang-yoon (Twenty Again) meet as strangers who become involved in each other’s lives through a series of fateful coincidences. In their poster together, they sport matching trenches, while the caption reads, “I waited, knowing you wouldn’t come… I miss you.”

The 30-second teaser reflects those yearning feelings. In it, the leads long to see the other but are shown to be apart, until the last scene when they meet at the airport. The sentimental music and soft lighting serve to evoke a nostalgic mood, and the leads’ micro-expressions emphasize their inner turmoil and conflicting emotions.

For On the Way to the Airport, Kim Haneul is a twelve-year veteran flight attendant, who has been married to her pilot, played by Shin Sung-rok (King’s Face). They’ve been married since the beginning of her career, and they have a daughter together. Lee Sang-yoon is a part-time university lecturer with his own harmonious family, until one day a shocking incident rocks his world.

Jang Hee-jin (Mirror of the Witch) plays Lee Sang-yoon’s dutiful wife, and not much has been revealed about Choi Yeo-jin‘s (Riders: Catch Tomorrow) character, other than that she’s a chic, stylish flight attendant. Somehow these people become entangled together in complicated relationships, leading to both sorrow and happiness.

In her individual poster, Kim Haneul makes a Mona Lisa expression, wistfully thinking, “I wish nothing would change, from yesterday to today to tomorrow.” On the other hand, Lee Sang-Yoon looks deep in thought while his character quote reads, “Don’t forget this moment. Ever.” Shin Sung-rok adjusts his tie with a chilly glare (that reminds me a bit too much of his serial killer days): “A moment of weakness? I never do anything that will harm me.” In Choi Yeo-jin’s poster, she crosses her arms, as her caption says, “Love isn’t precious and passionate for everyone.” Jang Hee-Jin looks sad and soulful in hers, which reads, “I never existed before the day you first saw me.”

KBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama On the Way to the Airport will start airing on September 21.

The background is the only nice thing. These characters sound miserable.

“I never existed before the day you first saw me.” yikes, if that isn't a red flag, I don't know what is. She sounds like a dependent pitiful person.

Overall, I can't get behind a drama glorifying affairs.

Added into watchlist.

If this drama can make me cry then it is a good melodrama.

As for actors - You don't need girls in early 20's to make a successful show. All You need good story and actors who understands their characters, live their characters and convice the audience that they are the characters.

Somehow I believe senior actors will do much better job in melodrama. Looking at this casts, I believe they will deliver, provided the script is good.

Trench coat couple is very compatible.
So Jang Heejin is reprising her Achiara role? It's unreal how beautiful her sad face is.

I find her so beautiful, I want to cry. And I don't even know why. Theres just something about Jang Hee Jin that evokes soulful longing and melancholy.

These posters and even the trailers are giving me very strong jtbc Beloved/Dear You vibes. I love that show a lot (and Choi Yeo Jin was in it as well!) so hopefully this show mirrors it in terms of tone and execution.

I can foresee that for a majority of drama, I'm going to be watching and wondering at the back of my mind whether or not Shin Sung Rok is going to turn bat-crazy at one point and decide to just smite all three of the other leads XD Because with all the melo that seems the drama production is hinting at, there's bound to be someone that will go a little cray cray from all the foreseeable tears, betrayal, and makjang that's bound to occur....

I'd rather have a seriously good drama like Signal .........its a shame 99% of Kdramas are romance driven.

'They’ve been married since the beginning of her career, and they have a daughter together.'

What kind of reincarnation do I gotta undergo to have a daughter with Sungrok

Annnnnnnnnnd there goes my last chance of watching this drama.

I was already iffy with the whole 'second youth' and 'married to other people' premise, but I thought I could still watch it because of LSY's effect on my good judgement + if I disliked the spouses enough.

But now, after seeing Hee-Jin's character's poster? Nope. Nuh-uh. No way. She looks way too pitiful for me to possibly enjoy the show's otp with a (semi) clear conscience. 'I never existed before you saw me'??? Ouch, man.

Totally respect everyone else looking forward to this, but I'm personally just gonna sit this one out. Not even LSY can make me sit through emotionally-cheating-on-vulnerable-spouse. The second-hand guilt is practically paralysing me as a I type. >.<

I am not drawing to the plots, but the casts are too beautiful to be missed. Will try and see how it goes. After all, this is Kim Ha Neul's comeback project.

I just weep hard the other day after reading a novel for 16 hours straight without sleeping where the writer deprived me of happy ending after all they've been through. Now, come this drama. Is my heart strong enough to watch a melo drama without any promise of happy ending? I really don't know. But the actors are wonderful. And LSY is best doing the brooding and longing, plus SSR... Duh. *dilemma*

Are you by any chance, reading a novel written for adults? That's the reason why I stop reading adult novels and choose young adults instead. I'm so tired of being deprived of happy endings. I need my happy endings in my entertainment. Real life is hard enough.

This drama will compete against SKL right? Oh makjang versus SIG awesomeness, I wonder which side will win? Personally I go for SIG(since he is after all, my number 1 bias) but I like Kim Haneul too(I find her likeable in A Gentleman's Dignity). Well I guess time will tell rite?
