Yoon Doo-joon to make Let’s Eat and Bring It On, Ghost worlds collide
by girlfriday
Yes, finally! The PD of tvN’s current Monday-Tuesday drama Bring In On, Ghost has been bringing practically all of the major cast members of his previous drama franchise — Let’s Eat Seasons 1 and 2 — to the set for fun cameos, and I’d been wondering if Yoon Doo-joon (Splish Splash Love) would ever make an appearance. He’s been announced for a cameo in the final episode, and better yet, he’ll be appearing as his Let’s Eat quirky foodie character Gu Dae-young.
The series has already featured cameos from Let’s Eat alums Shim Hyung-tak, Lee Soo-kyung, and Kim Hee-won, and of course co-stars Kwon Yul as the shady professor-vet, and featured Lee Do-yeon in a recurring role as the boy-crazy unni ghost. Seo Hyun-jin is due to appear in Episode 13 as well, and the only shame is that she and Yoon Doo-joon couldn’t have done their cameos together.
Yoon Doo-joon has been confirmed to appear in Episode 16, which airs on August 30, in character as Gu Dae-young. That’s my favorite kind of cameo — when dramaverses collide and we get to see B-side moments in characters’ “lives.” It should be a fun bit of meta for fans of the Let’s Eat series, even if it’s shoehorned into the Bring It On, Ghost narrative. Though if you make Gu Dae-young a ghost, or show him dating a THIRD girl, we will have words.
Bring It On, Ghost airs Mondays and Tuesdays on tvN.

YES THIS! Have been waiting for Doojoon to make his appearance and best yet, as his Let's Eat character! *happy dance*
Maybe Gu Dae Young and Kim Hyun Ji can have an eat off since they both love to eat. ;)

I hope it goes like this:
Taecyeon: (In restaurant eating something)
Gu Dae Young who comes out of nowhere: No, that is not how you eat this! (Cue explanation)
Taecyeon: (stunned expression)

oooh, I like this - he needs to act more.
Though maybe we could make Gu Dae-young's world collide with another ghost drama? i.e. reunite him with Kim Seul-gi already, I won't even be mad if she's girl #3 in a new outing of the Let's Eat series.

Seriously, TVN!
I hope the only reason why Yoon Do Joon is not back on Drinking Solo is because they are holding out Let's Eat 3 for him when he and Kim Seul Gi both have time - obviously now isn't what with both busy with their own gig - but we will wait! Even if they're only munching Subway, we will still watch 16 episodes of it.

the show should called "bring eat on, ghost!" As the food/meals them self make an appearance in every single episodes.

(Only because "Let's Eat Ghosts!" sounds a little cannibalistic.)

Let's Eat, Ghost! would be perfect.
Consider! Ghosts have to eat funeral offerings to sate their hunger. It's one of the reasons our main couple got together, he was feeding her. There's absolutely the potential of going around eating at restaurants with a ghost companion.

Omg. That could be the best cross-over ever. Imagine this:
GDY broke up with suji, and got broken heart so much that he end up able to see ghost.
The ghost happened to be shin soon-ae (kim seulgi on ohmyghost), and then they go with the food adventure...
The best part? Lets eat, bring it on, and oh my ghost are all tvn drama.

I read somewhere that he will be reprising his role and will be attracted to Kim So-hyun's character... so Dae-young being a ghost himself is not a far-fetched idea.

Oh dear, a foodie ghost (died from overeating?) who starves because people who can't see him can't give him food. And tormented beyond endurance because nobody can hear his food lectures. So he latches on to Bong-Pal and Hyun-ji and lecture-torments them beyond endurance? Better than listening to him sell insurance.

Am I the only one who thinks Yoon Doo Joon looked the best in Splish Splash Love in his Saeguk attire and hair? I can't really explain it but he looked much less hot as his doppelgänger in modern day attire at the end of the drama.
Then again it's the first and only drama I've seen him in so maybe I'm biased because I really liked SSL.
Is Let's Eat worth checking out for him?

Let's Eat 1 is focused around the female lead and he and Shim Hyung-Tak are the love interests. Even though his blog is a big plot point there was actually a lot less of him than I expected early in the series, but then things changed. It was like the director went, "OMO, this idol can act!"
Season 2 is better, IMO, because straight up HE is the main character and it's all focused around his perspective. There's a new love triangle he's involved in as one of two guys interested in the same woman but it still manages to be about him and it just really worked better to me.

I agree Season 2 is better overall, but I think Doojoon's character was funnier in Season 1. He was so weird, and his compulsive lying and self-admiration were hilarious.

I adore Yoon Doo-joon as the character Gu Dae-young. Right now I would have to disagree with you all about Season 2 of Let's Eat being better than Season 1. I prefer the food (which was simply irresistible) and the cast of characters from the 1st season more.
I've been struggling to complete Season 2 for months now. (At this rate it's like 1 episode every 2 or 3 weeks.) And the food scenes are not as enticing as in Let's Eat 2 (maybe because his "food lectures" are very limited and/or missing altogether).

I agree. To me Let's Eat seems to lost most of its magic in the second installment. I went expected to find frustration but instead falling head over heel for the most bizarre but lovable characters on Let's Eat (one and only). Let's Eat 2 went for the usual trope where lovable female lead apparently lost her spine and all her brain cells when she's infatuated with the good-but-wrong guy. She's incapable of putting out legit reasoning and making sound decisions. I ended up dropping LE2 before the finale because the love triangle was getting increasingly trope-y and the female lead was making increasingly stupid decisions.

Kinda split - depending on what one likes more.
LE2 had the better build-up of the relationship/romance than LE1 (which kinda came out of nowhere and didn't really make sense); this is where Seo Hyun-jin really garnered my attention (had previously seen her in "The 3 Musketeers, but her role wasn't large enough to see what she was capable of) and kinda thought she almost stole the show from Yoon Doo-joon.
But LE1 had the far more enjoyable supporting characters - Shim Hyung-tak was simply hilarious as the clueless, but love-struck attorney and Lee Do-yeon was funny as the other attorney who saw herself different from the rest of world.
And Yoon So-hee was simply adorable.
The one scene at the buffet style restaurant where the 3 women are full of jealousy competing for Dae-young's attention is simply one of the funniest scenes in a romcom.
Watched LE2 before the original, so don't necessarily have to go in order.
Agree that it's too bad that we don't get to see Do-joon and Hyun-jin together as their LE characters.

It's because sageuk clothes, ladies and gentlemen.
I have yet to see any actor/actress looks worse in hanbok and sageuk clothes.
Let's Eat is worth-watching definitely!! Food porn at its best. My advice: just eat before, during or after the drama to keep you from being hungry.

You mean AND, don't you? Because you need to eat throughout the whole hour (especially in season 1) to survive this show. ?

Oh I love this. I love when they say/do something relate to dramas we've watched. That reminds me. In the latest ep. of 'Second to Last Love', for the top drama award candidate, one yelled "Seven flying dragons!" another said "YongPil", and Kim Hee-ae said "No, it is surely 'Mr. Cop'!" lol

This may be a bit off topic but his group, Beast, is an unique group. They have songs that are not cut out off from 'idop-pop songs', they lease totally different genre songs in Japan. I like their new song called Ribbon ( in particular, their live from 'TIPSY live Beast, Ribbon' on YouTube- like a Let's Drink of gu dae young )
