Park Eun-bin to take leading role in weekend MBC drama
by chickachunga
Actress Park Eun-bin (Age of Youth) will take a leading role in the new MBC weekend drama Father, I’ll Take Care of You, the drama that previously cast Lee Soo-kyung (My Little Baby, Let’s Eat) and Kim Jae-won (Hwajeong, Scandal).
Father, I Will Take Care of You is about an empty nest couple eager to finally live their life after raising four children only to have all four of them return to the nest at the same time. These selfish siblings who have only known themselves will rediscover the love they have for each other and their precious parents.
Park’s character is named Oh Dong-hee, an assistant writer bound by her slave-like contract. Her life has been replete with regret and suffering due to a terrible secret she’s harbored for twenty-six years while living under her brother’s shadow. Even though she’s tied down to her job, Dong-hee encounters new people at work who allow her to open her eyes to love again.
Due to Park’s superb performance in the currently airing JTBC drama Age of Youth, she has already landed a new starring role, which will require her to deliver a mature portrayal of an adult woman, after growing up as a child actress and playing a number of youthful characters (Legend, Iron Empress, Queen Seon-deok, Operation Proposal).
This project will be written by Cho Jung-sun, whose previous works include Golden Era of Daughter-in-Law, Sons of Sol Pharmacy, Goddess of Marriage, and Twinkle Twinkle My Heart.
Father, I Will Take Care of You will air in November after Flower in Prison ends.

This writer is so bad. Goddess of Marriage was basically lifted off older drama "Firework" with Cha In-Pyo and Lee Young-Ae. (and she has done a poor job even at that) Twinkle Twinkle My Heart is probably one of the worst written drama I was unfortunate to watch. I am shocked that anyone wants to sponsor her drama for another potential disaster, and even more so that any reputable actors who want to be in her drama, after what she did to the leads in Twinkle Twinkle.

Now wait jusssst a minute. You're telling me that the writer of Sons of Sol Pharmacy = the writer of Goddess of Marriage? I'm sure I probably learned this fact already at some point, but the information clearly didn't sink in. Well, maybe if the writer gets back some of their earlier magic this won't be a complete waste of Park Eun-bin's skills, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm glad to see her getting more roles though. She deserves it.

Starring in a weekend drama is good for her career, right? It's a bitter pill to swallow, but if it'll help her get more choice in the long run, then I can't complain...too much haha. Anyway, between Secret Door and Age of Youth, it's clear she's interested in more eclectic/demanding projects, so I'm sure there will be more characters like Ji-won in her future :)

She deserves lead roles in a prime time show but the big 3s are too busy going after idols and more popular actors.
I'm not a bit sorry about UF. I hope they've learn their lesson.
I think there are some actors like Kim Hyun-Joo are more comfortable or would prefer weekend dramas. The success rate is usually high.

Yeah, she does. Casting these days makes no sense, not even from a financial perspective. I do feel bad for Lee Kyung-hee, but UF is definitely not her best work and she's bounced back from duds like A Love to Kill before.
Yeah, Kim Hyun-joo's upcoming drama sounds like more of the same for her. I wish she would go back to doing stuff like Sangdo and Cruel Palace, but that's not realistic haha. It's also true that they don't make shows like that anymore. We only get like 2-3 decent shows a year, if we're lucky. There hasn't even been a legit sageuk since 2014.

Dramaland doesn't lack talents, it's just that popularity takes priority when it comes to casting.
Thank goodness the film industry appreciate talents more especially with the top film-makers.

I also not a bit sorry about UF. I hope they realized by now, casting popular actors won't determine the success of the drama. The success here not necessarily the rating, there are dramas that low ratings but well-received by international fans like Healer, I Remember You and some others.
Kim Hyun Joo probably feel more comfortable in doing weekend dramas. And maybe not so much offers for prime time show as they are too busy going after idols and more popular actors, like you said. I think it is similar to Lee Yuri too (prefer doing daily / weekend dramas).

My two young empresses from Empress Chun Chu deserve more attention :( Kim So Eun also will be in another weekend drama and if Park Eun Bin accepts this, she will be in a weekend drama too. I dont know if this will be good for their career, but hoping this will be a platform for their bright futures.

I want to see more and more Park Eun Bin.
Drama story seems good too. family drama with all adult children coming back to the family home and having their own 1st world issues will be good to see.
More fight among adult siblings. hate and love all in 1 package this is what i demand.

Yay for Park Eun Bin! More roles is always good and she should be able to put up a nuanced performance.
My only problem is that her character in AoY is such a charismatic and defining one that it's almost hard to see her in another role. Like right now, to me, she is Ji-won, and seeing her in a less outspoken role will feel weird. I'll be constantly wanting her to snap out of her funk, guzzle some alcohol and bust out her dance moves!

Seeing her in AoY is so refreshing. She always had serious roles esp in sageuk so I do love her transformation here ;) Hope Korean producer will love her more and give more good projects for her, because she is so underrated yet so talented,

I wish she'd stay with jTBC. I have such mixed feelings about this because she deserves better.
I'm excited that she's given a lead role and delivering a mature portrayal has never been a problem with Park Eun-bin. She played Doctor Heo Joon's wife at age 20 and Kim Ju-Hyeok who played Heo Joon was 20yrs older than her. She played the role of a wife with such maturity and I don't remember anyone complaining about the age gap.
Cho Jung-sun *sigh* she was better in the early stage of her career. Hope this will be good.

You've almost convinced me to watch Gu Am Heo Joon just to see her performance, but after sitting through Mirror of the Witch, I've decided that Jeon Kwang-ryeol is the only Heo Joon for me haha.
Yeah, maybe it's just that jTBC can't afford the big names, but they seem to pick better actors for the most part. Jeon Hye-bin is still playing second leads on the big 3 after her performance in Queen Insoo, which just seems crazy to me. At least Seo Hyun-jin finally seems to have broken through thanks to tvN, even though she hasn't had a role worth her talent since The Duo (an MBC drama lol). I hope she accepts that Romantic Doctor/Teacher/Whatever show. Between PD Yoo In-sik, Han Seok-kyu and non-sucky leading man Yoo Yeon-seok, it could even be watchable (the writer is responsible for Gu Family Book, but once upon a time she wrote Dal-ja's Spring, so I can dream lol).

I'm very happy for Seo Hyun-jin. It's hard to break out in the 30s. Still holding out hope for Jeon Hye-bin.
I'm not a fan of medical romance dramas but I can't say no to this cast especially with Han Seok-kyu in it.
Hopefully she'll accept and yes to Yoo Yeon-seok.

I love Park Eun bi, but not enough to sit through another 50 (I'm assuming) episode MBC weekend drama for her. The last MBC weekend family drama I watched was Golden Rainbow and I got burnt by it. Now if it were anything like Marriage Contract, I'd cheerfully sign on, but I guess this isn't the case...
She's an experienced and talented actress, can't she do better than this?

Yes! Loved this girl since 'The Legend', even at a young age she was so beautiful. I don't know but it looked as if she wasn't as active as other child actors so I even thought she quitted acting entirely. So glad she's finally getting the role she deserves!
