BoA cast in JTBC drama This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair
by javabeans
Pop star BoA is giving television another go, and has joined JTBC’s upcoming drama This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair, news that both the station and BoA’s management, SM Entertainment, have confirmed. She’d starred in a short two-episode mini-drama three years ago, Anticipate Love (with Daniel Choi, Im Shi-wan, and Kim Ji-won), but this’ll be her first acting role in a full-length drama series.
BoA won’t be taking the lead role, though; the leading lady character has yet to be cast. But Lee Seon-kyun (A Hard Day, Miss Korea) has now confirmed taking the husband role, after being announced previously as a likely candidate. The drama, which is based on a 2007 Japanese series of the same name, unfolds when a man who’d thought he was in a happy marriage finds out about his wife may be cheating. Lee’s character is a television PD who first clues into his wife’s intentions when he sees a hotel reservation text message on her phone, and takes to the internet for advice from strangers.
BoA will play a workaholic head writer with a refreshing, straight-talking personality, and I’m expecting that she’ll have most of her scenes with Lee and the broadcast staff. Meanwhile, additional supporting characters include Lee Sang-yub (Master — God of Noodle, Signal) playing Lee Seon-kyun’s university hoobae and Kim Hee-won (Awl, Let’s Eat 2) as his lawyer friend.
This Week, My Wife Will Have an Affair will be directed by PD Kim Seok-yoon, who recently did a killer job directing JTBC’s Awl (and both Detective K films before that). The drama will run for 12 episodes and premieres in October.

Oh, I like that it's 12 episodes- I hope it starts a nice opposing trend. I'm tired of all the extensions.

Yey, jtbc! Age of Youth is 12 eps too, right?
There are some dramas airing right now which I like but admittedly dragged a bit nearing the end. Here's to less eps and tighter writing! :D

She is awesome when it comes to music. Acting not so much so I'm glad she is not the lead.
I hope Lee Seon-kyun will get a leading lady closer to his age like Soo Ae or Seo or Kim So Yeon.

Kim So Yeon seriously need a good drama..Happy Home is OK, but I'm tired with all the nonsensical in her family, plus waiting for the subs is like forever.

Yes, Kim So-yeon would be perfect! Or Lee Da-hae, it's been so long since she's been in anything watchable :(

I am watching Awl right now and the directing is phenomenal! It really makes me want to check out the PD's other works and the fact that the premise sounds interesting is another plus. I'll have to keep my eye out for this one!

I'm all I'm for lesser episodes than 16. 12 will be good enough, no dragging. And.. it.means.we.will have more dramas.in the year, and we get to see many actors.??
Lee Sang Yoob will be joining too. Yeah. Hope he can be a lead soon. I like many of his roles' choices ,variety of roles .. Not only nice guy ?

Yes for less. J dramas are usually 10 episodes and that works fine. The K dramas need to tighten up the writing and do away with live shoots.

Love Lee Sang Yeob. I have only seen him in two dramas: Signal and Master of Noodles, one bit part, and one supporting part, and I was impressed with his performance. He is definitely a scene stealer. I'm looking forward to seeing more of his work.

I love BoA, she's forever the queen of Kpop but I wish she and SM wouldn't push her acting career. She's a director at SM, she can continue to release music or do collaborations. But I guess I shouldn't judge her before watching her again, after all she is giving acting a try after a long time.
I am so ready for Lee Sang Yeob though.

Indeed with SM clout she could very likely push for a lead role in a drama if she wanted to, it is to her credit that she seems willing to take lesser roles and learn how to act first.

Not familiar with BoA but her character sounds like she could have a great rapport with the husband character. Soooo excited that LSK is confirmed, a little sad that it will only be 12 episodes, but I suppose we can expect a tight story-telling. It is hard to imagine how they can stretch this story line anyway. Can't wait who they cast as the female lead. But the PD sounds awesome so I should trust his pick. Really can't wait.

I liked BoA in Anticipate Love with Daniel Choi. It was a refreshing 2-episode little drama. I also liked her in the reality show, Infinity Challenge, when she took on mentoring Jun Ha for a great performance at the Free Music Festival a couple of years ago. So, I am looking forward to her role as a workaholic, which I think she must be in RL based on her years in the music industry.

I actually quite liked BoA in Anticipate Love, too. She wasn't bad. Although, she was pretty awkward in that dance movie with Derek Hough, but maybe largely due to it being in English and all. And as for the wife, I agree with mary, Sera and juniper, I want to see Kim So Yeon in the role, as well!
