The bad girl meets her match in Doctors

The posters and new teasers for SBS’s Doctors continue to flesh out the backstory for our rebellious teenage heroine Park Shin-hye, who begins to change her bad girl ways when she meets her biology teacher Kim Rae-won. Their poster says, “After meeting you, I’m becoming a better person.” It definitely goes both ways, since Kim Rae-won plays a surgeon who runs away from his career path after his first table death, and is reminded of his true calling as he spends more time with his troublemaker student.
The teasers below open with Park Shin-hye tearing around on the back of bad boy Ji-soo’s (Page Turner) motorcycle, getting into fights and stirring up trouble everywhere she goes. She scoffs at the notion of a “good teacher,” declaring that she’s never even seen what one looks like. Meanwhile Kim Rae-won starts his job at the school, and after a few encounters with her, declares that he can’t handle being that girl’s teacher.
But in no time they build a rapport and he jokes, “You’ve totally fallen for me, haven’t you?” The copy reads: “After meeting you, I want to become a better person.” She really does seem to have a change in attitude, because when she first comes to live with Grandma after being abandoned by her father, she’s sour and hating life. But Grandma’s warmth and Teacher’s inspiration seem to turn her around, and soon she’s running off eagerly to go to school.
Of course all of this is backstory, because our characters will meet again years later as colleagues in the same hospital, where our heroine will also reunite with frenemy Lee Sung-kyung and gain a new sunbae in Yoon Kyun-sang. So far all the promo materials have painted the drama as a warm and feel-good coming-of-age story, so I hope that’s the focus rather than a medical procedural in trendy drama clothing. Fingers and toes crossed.
Doctors premieres next Monday, June 20.

Yay! I like these teasers better. Can't wait to see PSH's story. I like the ones about "bad" students turning their life around from the influence of a good mentor. AND it's a girl this time around! But I can't fault her for hanging out with Jisoo. No matter how bad he is...
Funny, the grandma is played by Kim Young-ae. Someone just wished in the Kim Myung-min movie post to see the actress in a nice role for once. Not the usual corrupt or screechy grandma.

That's what I thought too when I saw the picture above. I loved him in Pinocchio but I agree he just looks meh here. I think it's partially due to his haircut and he may have gained a bit of weight because his face looks a little rounder.

If we had surgeons this superhumanly cute in hospital, it would solve the worldwide shortage of nurses and no one would call in sick ever...
We had a surgeon where I worked last time who was not only nice but cute (by "everyday people" standards) and the nursing Sister once teased him that she never had a junior call in sick when assigned to his operating team!
Looking forward to seeing this show, hope the medical part isn't out of this world ridiculous so I won't be distracted from enjoying the cute.

I used to live in a hospital too and started thinking same based on gossip from my nurse/doc roommates. :(
It's that or I assume the cute docs are already married. My med student friends say the sunbaes advise them if they want to marry, to do it before residency, because they'll be too busy to start a family otherwise. XD

Because Korea didn't like the original name which is Female Gangter Hye Jung as it promotes violent.
Tittle sucks but does it change anything about the drama?

I replied to the OP sentiment about the medical aspect of the drama and criticize the title.
Doctors title will be better if it's about doctors and their life IMO and

It's not a great name and super generic but tittles don't usually have to do with the message or the lesson the drama intend to send.
I didn't say it was an attack but it was a prejudgment. Just like many people in the drama will show us.

I have almost zero interest on medical dramas and almost zero faith on the writer (Warm Words, High Society). However if this drama focuses more on youth and social issues, it may draw my interests. There's Ji Soo too as added bonus!

@La Plume hahahaha seems like we have the same taste in dramas and books.
I never like medical dramas, the last thing I watched was Doctor Stranger which was horrible and that's why I'm not really into Doctors or Beautiful Mind (both are about neurosurgeons). But actually from the character descriptions and teasers so far, Doctors leans more towards 'feel-good' drama and less about medical. We don't actually see any patient or surgery room in the teaser right? So yeah, here's hoping we'll get something different. I like the casts well enough to check to first few eps at least.

Some of PSH's fans are too overprotective, looks like their bias cannot even be touched even a bit. This is Dramabeans, where we discuss about drama and actors. The fans need to calm down since this is not even their own forum that everyone should praise PSH. Same goes to non-fans don't go overboard in criticizing. It is nothing wrong if some of us do not expect too much from PSH. It does not mean we hate her.

Your comment makes zero sense. Based off of all the teasers, the poster shoots, and character descriptions and plot scenarios, this drama is HEAVILY based on PSH's character, no KRW's.
She's the one doing the heavy lifting, both physically and emotionally as evidenced thus far by literally all four teasers.
So, I hope KRW cooperates well with PSH, only a little from him will do.

I beg to differ: firstly, the drama is called Doctors (plural form) not Doctor or Gangster or I-don't-know-what-else; secondly, as Park Shin Hye is the more popular actor it's expected that the teasers, trailers and posters focus mainly on her character - it's a way of promoting a drama.
Well, I suggest we wait till it starts airing (my opinion is that their characters are equally important).

From what I've heard, this drama was meant to be female centric. I've heard about the synopsis since last year, and it was, iirc, about a female gangster who got out of jail to become a successful doctor. I imagine they probably tweaked it a little so they got PSH. Somehow KRW accepted the role and they have to give him top billing since he's the bigger name. Also why the title became Doctors instead. The promotion focusing on PSH is not because she's more popular or anything, but that she's the focal point of the drama. KRW will definitely get equal screen time though.

Shin he is not only a beautiful (not the model type beautiful but she ooze with appeal, just ask my nephew who saw her while I was watching and asked me who she is and he thinks she is so cute blah blah blah, but she really can act. But beg to differ that she is not a bad kisser. She is and as a romance fan, I get disappointed with all her kissing scenes. Hoping that here, when the time comes, she won't look scared, shocked, zombie like, eyes wide open when it should be close. My point is you are given a script, and in the script it says romantic drama, and further down reading it, oh wait, since it is romantic drama, kissing scenes and skinship (I am not sure if that is what they call it when they are being embraced or such) are all written everywhere in the script. You accepted the role, so you have to make it all work. For a very talented actress, she needs to go all the way with emotions. Practice a bit please.

I have to agree. I think she is an OK actress, but her characters always annoy me no end - especially ones like the weepy, put-upon victim in Heirs or the perky yet prissy good girl in Heartstrings. In FBND she actually got angry, and that was the one portion in all of her roles that I actually liked. She needs to get angry more. She needs to throw herself into a really bad love affair. She needs to impulsively make some really bad life choices. She needs to beat someone up, physically or metaphorically.
I'm not saying this because I don't like her, I'm saying this because I think there's a really multi-dimensional actress in there, and I think we are seeing only a tiny corner of what she can do. What vulnerabilities we are allowed to see are so precise and perfect that I can't believe in her. She's like the Mary Sue of Kdramas.

I'm excited for a new drama to premiere. I feel like all the weekday dramas airing now are just so-so for me and none have really pulled me in. Also, Park Shin Hye is such a great actress and I love that she always picks fun projects. I'm super excited for this drama to premiere next week. Here's hoping 'Doctors' won't be a flop and will showcase great acting and a great story.

I like PSH's smile in her alone picture in the lab coat. She looks so happy! I wish I look that good in mine, but alas, I'm only average. ;) Hope this is a good drama. The title is a bit non-descriptive. I do like that it's a medical drama centered on a female lead. Will check out at least the first few eps.

I'm surprised that Kim Raewon is getting top billing (judging from the name order on the poster) for this drama since the original script was apparently female-centric? The original title was even named after the lead woman. I love Kim Raewon the most out of this cast but hmm...

I'm just saying, if this is female centric drama there will be no way Kim Rae Won will waste his time. I'm not saying KRW is A-lister but he deserves better than to be like supporting the younger female lead. And it seems the production really want him in this drama and even willing to adjust the script for him.If they do not really want him, they can just maintain the original script with different actor. ANyway, I guess this drama will have a balanced stories between the male and female lead..
I am a supporter for female-centric drama, but I also do not want KRW to be just "supporter" for female lead.

I was never a big fan of PSH's acting and never really felt the chemistry w her costar BUT the chemistry b/w PSH & KRW is great!
Based on the teasers I feel like shes improved in terms of acting and im really looking forward to watching her.

oh SNAP I just watched the first episode, and I cannot swallow the thought of him having affections for Shin Hye as a man. I have a thing for teacher student crushes but this one is in so many levels creeping me out.
1. When KRW's character singled out Lee Sung Kyung's character to make her carry the biology class equipment.
2. When KRW's character told PSH's character that they should start dating, even if it was to make her admit she is a student.
3. When KRW's character was about to hit PSH's character like a real Korean teacher (which in my country is not acceptable behaviour) and my red flags screamed 50 SHADES OF GREY. It's not helping that Park Shin Hye's make-up and clothes looks totally like an Anastasia Steel would - a bit too much and a tease.
I'm going to have a hard time watching this drama but I like Shin Hye's dramas most of the time. I don't think I can stop watching even if it might be horribly creepy, though because quite frankly there isn't much option these days.
