Lee Je-hoon to reunite with Bleak Night director

Okay, I’m almost scared for this reunion. The last time that Lee Je-hoon (Phantom Detective, Signal) and writer-director Yoon Sung-hyun teamed up, my heart got shredded and stomped on and now all that remains is a hollow shell. That’s kind of what watching Bleak Night does to you, which I absolutely say with love because it’s one of my favorite movies; it’s just not a happy movie. The film about three teens whose friendship goes tragically awry was also the cult hit indie film that put Lee Je-hoon on the map and earned him New Actor awards at both the Daejongs and the Blue Dragons that year, so this is definitely a reunion to watch out for.
Their new project is still in the early stages of development, but they’re working on a film called Hunting Time, described as a blood-splattering thriller about someone who’s being chased, and the person chasing them. Yoon Sung-hyun is set to write and direct, and is currently consulting with Lee Je-hoon while in the early stages of scriptwriting.
Lee Je-hoon’s agency stated that it’s too early in the process to declare this his next project, but Lee is working on it with the director in the planning, and his agency is investing in the production. So it’s more a question of when the project will be made, rather than if he’ll star.
I don’t know that I’m as excited about the idea of a thriller, since what I loved about the dark, gritty, and painfully realistic Bleak Night was its thoughtful characterization and spare directing. But I do trust this writer-director to create a sense of unease and danger, and I can see it being a mystery with dark, chilling characters. Whatever they come up with, I’m sure I’ll be on pins and needles to see it.
Hunting Time is still in development, and will hopefully cast and shoot soon.

After watching Signal and loving TMW, I'm here hunting some Lee Je hoon articles and saw this comment.

Clarence, Cannot believe I found the person who went through the same with Lee Je Hoon obsession. After Bleak Night! The movie made a huge impact on me. Couldn't stop thinking about it for days. In addition to great directing also thanks to Lee Je-Hoon acting.

I was hoping Yoon Sung-Hyun would do a short film like the Jury but as a director. I love short and memorable films and I'm a big supporter of indie films because they are usually a stepping stone for new and aspiring film makers.
Sounds like it's not going to happen soon so there is still time for a rom.com.

i watched bleak night two years ago, when i was fourteen. it was amazing. i rewatched months ago and i cried even more because i, too, lost someone to suicide. i'm going to start signal soon but i know i'll love it. how does someone have such skill in choosing projects?

He's very selective and always thinks things through extremely carefully before signing on.
Although he has had a few misses when it comes to projects (Fashion King, Secret Door < dramas that everyone would like to forget).
I think that's the thing with dramas that get filmed/written week by week. He chooses based on how much potential it has at the start, but then when the writing falls short, he has to stick with it to the end. He is very aware that those dramas were disappointing. I do forsee him choosing pre-produced dramas from now on(Signal was semi-pre produced) just so that he has a bit more assurance in terms of quality & what he's signing up for.

I am so intimidated and scared about crazy crying just ne reading the synopsis that I just cant bring myself to actually watch the film. Should I just wait for the moment I want to cry and give it a shot? I looooved LJH in Signal and in Secret Door. He should be superstar already given his gorgeous face and superb acting skills. But then given that likes of LMH exist....

I love Bleak Night. One of my favorite movies and the greatest, bestest, heart break. Everything about that movie was near perfection. I'm happy all three males are doing pretty well in the biz (but when is my bb Seo Jun Young going to get his break. He deserves better than all these daily dramas. The drama special Sirus more than proved that.) To this day the words "Where did I go wrong? From where did I go wrong?" still haunt me and man, I'm getting teary eyed.
I am sooooo looking forward to this movie and hope Je Hoon does star in it.
Lawds now I'm a mess..almost every scene of that movie haunts me. But end...

I try not to even think about the words "bleak" and "night" together, cause it triggers something heart-wrenching. (Also, I love Seo Jun Young; so having him in that movie was a plus!)

I really like bleak night. even it broken my heart into pieces and made my crying non stop. "where did I go wrong? when did I go wrong ?" thats words still haunted me. and joon last word to imaginary kitae "chingu" ahhh the feeling..

This is really good news and I'm digging the fact that Lee, himself, is so involved in the process. Pretty cool.
I do want to see him in another drama before I see him in a film, though. Another 16+ hours of the guy would be beneficial to my health.

But I agreed on BN. Super sad. I tempted to rewatch it few time but nah... I dont think I can handle it.

I'm a wimp I can't watch things with a lot of violence and gore. I'm just praying this won't be too full on but that description is really scaring me. :S

I have no doubt he would be amazing in this movie but not knowing if I can definitely watch it or not makes me sad. I absolutely loved Phantom Detective & I am keen for more Jehoon blessing my eyes with his beautiful face. If I can't watch this because it's too hardcore then we all need a cute drama project instead lol.
