Kim Sun-ah to become a Woman of Dignity?

Kim Sun-ah (Masked Prosecutor) may be returning to television, and is reportedly considering a 20-episode drama titled Woman of Dignity, which comes from the writer of JTBC’s romance melodrama Beloved Eun-dong. The official statement from Kim’s camp is that she received the offer and it’s only one of several projects she’s looking at, so we can’t get too excited yet, though I’m just happy to know she’s thinking of returning to dramaland soon.

Woman of Dignity tells a success story of a woman who enjoys a luxurious, privileged life, only to lose everything, who then finds her way back. It’s something of a riches-to-rags-to-riches trajectory, although I suppose if you take the long view, it’s really a rags-to-riches-to-rags-to-riches journey since she grew up poor (although she works hard as an adult to hide her lowly origins). She met her wealthy husband, a quasi-chaebol’s son, while working as a flight attendant, but quit that job upon marriage; now in her late thirties, she enjoys an ultraluxurious lifestyle as a rich housewife. That is, until her father-in-law is ruined and her husband betrays her, suddenly leaving her at rock bottom.

The show hasn’t specified a genre (and the description could fit a number of them — I can see it being a human drama, hard melodrama, or romantic comedy, for instance) but it does purport to examine the lives of modern women and the place of the ajumma in society. My bet’s on thoughtful dramedy, although I’ll take any genre as long as the drama is decent; it’s been so long since I’ve seen Kim Sun-ah in something worthy of her and I keep hoping the next project will be the one.

Woman of Dignity plans to begin filming in August and is aiming for a broadcast late this year, although no word has been given yet of a broadcaster or timeslot.

Yeah, that's my fear as well. I'm not too impressed by the writing in that drama and dropped it after 4 episodes. I hope this time around the writing would improve as Kim Sun Ah needs a hit drama on her hands, her last few dramas weren't very successful.

Yes, please! It is so frustrating for me, because two of her dramas are in my top-ten-of-all-time, and yet lately I can't even finish her dramas - that last one I don't think I even lasted one episode. She's such a good actress when the material is there - I too wish she could just get something Good.
This show could be promising - I watched a Jdorama with Kimura Takuya called Priceless, all about a salaryman who looses everything and then finds whats really important - and it was funny and charming. I will hope for something similar, because she could so pull it off!

I'm checking on her all the time and that's some fantastic news! I hope she'll make a good choice and the writers with the director won't disappoint us. I'm not worried about a male lead because she makes all male actors overshine her own acting career. That's what's she's known for...

It's so pity that there're not so many opportunities among dramas for so good actresses in her age. They have to play somebody younger or older or mom to a teenager or a bitchy boss, like you should retire after you're 30+ something years old.

I would love to see her as pianist, she's so good at it B-)

Gosh, my heart sank when I saw the title. YES!!! I hope she hurry back to dramaland, she's one of the reason if not the reason I got into watching K-drama. Hope this one is successful, and a male lead who can keep up with her take the script *cough* Cha Seung Won *cough*. Any who I'm happy with the news.

I miss KSA a lot. I was a huge fan back in the days of MNIKSS and City Hall. Her last few projects didn't interest me that much and she seems to have taken a very long break. I welcome her back to kdramaland with open arms and look forward to fangirling over her all over again. :)

Kim Sun Ah is so awesome but I have trust issues with this writer after she fucked up her own show in the last three episodes. Just why, writer-nim, WHY. I'm still so bitter lmao.

I'm one of those who religiously checks out k-entertainment news about KSA's whereabouts. And I'm ecstatic for this news. I really hope the material is good and that unnie can shine again as she deserves it. She's one of the best actresses over in k-dramaland. And I miss her so.

I love KSA, so if she's going to be in this I hope it turns out well. I heard her last drama was a flop and I'd love to see her in something good again.

I loved her in Scent of a Woman (2011) - her recent dramas (I do I do and Masked Prosecutor) were quite bad, unfortunately, and I couldn't finish them.
Well, I hope she chooses carefully this time (she's a great actress).

She's my Korean celebrity crush and I need her to come out swinging on her next project.

And where is her chubby cheeks? Is she is on diet or something?

She gained weight for MLKSS and then she came back to her previous weight but she lost lots of weight for Scent of the woman and after that she kept her "adored weight by korean entertainment".

She is a good actress, even though I haven't been impressed with any of her dramas after "City Hall" (the only drama of hers that I like). The premise of this show sounds a little ridiculous though. However I hope, whether it is this drama or another drama, that she will pick a good and interesting project.

The TV series will be good if they could style it like Blue Jasmine meets A Wife's Credentials
