Character posters for Uncontrollably Fond’s leading foursome

I was beginning to think this drama only had two characters in it. But new posters are out for KBS’s new Wednesday-Thursday melodrama Uncontrollably Fond, and second leads Im Joo-hwan (Oh My Ghostess) and Im Joo-eun (Heirs) are finally in the mix. Naturally, so are Suzy and Kim Woo-bin (as if we could miss them).

The romance melodrama stars Suzy and Kim Woo-bin as sweethearts in their youth who reunite as adults, when he’s become an arrogant megastar and she’s a documentary producer assigned to interview him. Her poster reads: “If you really like me, what am I supposed to do?” His tagline is: “I worked hard at running away, but you’re still here.” Odd, since it seems like he’s the one chasing her.

Im Joo-hwan plays the Mr. Perfect type — a planning department director of a large conglomerate with the right looks, skills, personality, family background, and specs. His poster reads: “You’ll meet someone who loves you sincerely.” I wonder if he’s talking to Suzy or himself.

Im Joo-eun is the daughter of an even wealthier family with old money and political connections. Her father is a presidential candidate and her mother comes from a family of cabinet ministers and prime ministers. Her poster’s copy says: “If you weren’t thinking to seduce me, why did you shake up my heart?” Hopefully they’ll have more to do in the show than brood over doomed unrequited loves.

Uncontrollably Fond airs Wednesdays and Thursdays on KBS and premieres July 6.

@adelaide, try marathoning your dramas at the end of the season. It's fun to watch them that way and you will have more control over your schedule.

I found his character to be extra evil in OMG, because he has that kind look and aura about him. You wouldn't expect that from his first appearance.

I think that's actually Photoshop texture. Suzy and IJE posters also have similar textures, but blend well with the picture.

I guess kdramas really don't do average or don't like average. To the innocent foreigner who takes kdramas as a ref of how south korea is like, it will seem like every stone thrown randomly in the streets will hit a couple of chaebols or stars or geniuses. If you r lucky, maybe a super chaebol or superstar or super genius. Having said that, that's a lot of pretty in a drama. Is south korea like that in real life too?

Actually, some dramas are quite realistic. The one closest to life (be it about relationships, conflicts etc) I found is Life is beautiful, sadly it's quite a long one... most relationships make sens, and almost every character is likeable/believable. it's kind of like the anti-makjang, but it's very good.

But yeah, I agree, most dramas seem to go for the extremes, which is what i like and what i really dislike about them....

You should definitely watch some dramas from cable tv stations. At least not all characters are rich/handsome/powerful x infinity

Misaeng is an example, CITT is quite realistic too, while you might not find someone like Yoo Jung Sunbae in real life, I could relate to the other characters in college and even Hong Seol.

I think some dramas are actually presenting chaebols or superstars in dramas as some sort of social commentary/critique. Most common theme in kdrama is revenge, most of the time revenge in kdrama happens because social injustice and lack of proper punishment to the bad guys. While the bad guys are almost always the rich and powerful ones. They're written to criticize modern Korean society nowadays and how the rich and powerful can easily skirt the laws. Although some dramas succeed to portray that and some are failed.

I wasn't planning to watch this drama. But if the 2nd leads have a good story then might skip and fast forward to their storylines. I don't like melodramas in general and don't like Suzy's acting- no matter what her rabid fanbase says about her emoting. However do like the 2nd leads acting. Hope they picked a good role for themselves.

So it sounds good for a marathon drama once it ends.

But, KWB looks good when he is brooding and LOLrious when full of petty jealousy. As for IJW, I guess it's time to see him happy and in love.

Kim Ji Won got a lot of recognition playing second lead in DoTS, let's hope the same goes for Im Joo Eun.

In DOTS, there were two lovelines, and KJW was not a typical bitchy type second female lead. That is why she was able to get more recognition and become more popular.

I am afraid for how Ims's characters have been written actually. She deserves better than be a bitchy second female lead.

The only reason I'd watch this is for Kim Woo-bin and Suzy. The rest of it is hit or miss. Especially the premise.

The premise and character descriptions are so vague/generic and sounds makjang... but I really like the Ims' acting so im crossing my fingers they knew what they were doing when they picked this drama cuz they might have to carry it.. All the Whats Up main casts -kim ji won, jo jung seuk, im joo eun, im joo hwan- has been or will be in a drama this year! Its even better to see them in the same project -last year, Im joo hwan and jo jung seu not the Ims- Wish the next time I see them, theyre the leads of their own drama!

I do find Kim Woo Bin a good actor, and I'm certain most of you here will agree ... but I don't find him goodlooking. At all. There must be something wrong with my eyes because I just don't see what his appeal is. ? My 8-year old said he look like an alien, and I *ducks for cover first* agree.

Will watch this drama with you guys, though ?

I was planning on skipping this because I'm no fan of either Suzy or KWB. But Im Joohwan had me hesitating (making me want to watch) - because marathoning Ugly Alert did not ease any IJH cravings at all! Now with Im Jueun joining the mix, too, I don't think I can still stay away! ??? Cue me hoping for Im-Im couple.

Yes, you can have the drama with the Im's. Make sure you have a budget for producing that drama. Maybe it will be not airing on Big3 but you can try for cable or worst web-drama.

Honestly, right now this looks painfully boring and while I like Suzy I don't think her acting can carry all of the angst that this drama is likely to dish out. I will check it out just because of all the hype, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if I wasn't able to get past the first few episodes.

Beautiful poster ! Only the poster of Suzy looks great ! This couple has awesome chemistry and great acting skills !

Kim woobin and Suzy will carry this drama to Great Height even if the writer go lazyng around ! The audience will be slay ! Two talented lead in their 20's is very rare in kdramas ! So yeah looking forward to them the most !

Bae Suzy is a great actress even at her young age ! So emotional to see going from a raw talented teenage actress to a 20 year old prolific and versatile actress !

Watch Suzy rises as she continue to choose Quality over Quantity !

I like Suzy as much as the next person, but she's a terrible actress. Calling her versatily is pretty laughable. And she certainly doesn't always choose quality over quantity since half the projects she's been involved in are either mediocre or outright terrible.
