Kim Myung-min considers new noir movie VIP

Powerhouse actor Kim Myung-min (Six Flying Dragons) is favorably considering a role in director Park Hoon-jung’s new noir movie VIP. Although nothing has been officially decided, the possibility of another compelling Kim Myung-min performance is exciting.

In VIP, Director Park tells the story of the son of a North Korean high-ranking official who commits a murder in South Korea, and is subsequently chased by a dedicated investigator. Complicating this chase are NIS agents who try to best preserve the precarious relationship between North and South Korea, and must stop the imminent threat of international disaster.

Kim Myung-min recently played brilliant crafty political advisor Jung Do-jeon in the epic historical drama Six Flying Dragons. He has several other projects lined up for this year. His new movie Proof of Innocence will be premiering on June 16, and he will also soon start filming for One Day with fellow Six Flying Dragons co-star Byun Yo-han.

Director Park Hoon-jung broadened the horizons of the gritty noir film genre through his 2013 success New World. His depiction of the dark reality in the underworld of organized crime drew much popularity in both domestic and international audiences.

If Kim Myung-min confirms, this would be the first project that he and Director Park embark on together. Filming for this movie is projected to start in the latter half of this year.

I actually like North vs South Korea movies way more than dramas about them, so I could totally get into this. Kim Myung-min would kill it.

No chance for him to be in Park Kyung Soo's new drama then. :( But I'm glad he's doing well in Chungmuro.

New World is one of my favorite K-movies, so I'd probably watch whatever this director did, plus KMM has a pretty good eye for projects. Looking forward to this!
