Cha In-pyo, Ra Mi-ran up to play weekend spouses for Laurel Tree Tailors
by tineybeanie
Cha In-pyo (D-Day) and Ra Mi-ran (Come Back, Ajusshi) are favorably considering playing a married couple in an upcoming weekend drama. The new KBS Saturday-Sunday show is called Laurel Tree Tailors, and is being marketed as a feel-good family drama about a household that runs a tailoring business for men’s suits.
If she signs on, this would be Ra Mi-ran’s third drama this year, after playing everyone’s favorite mom in Answer Me 1988 and then a funny afterlife guide in Come Back, Ajusshi. Cha In-pyo tends to play more serious characters (politicians, chaebols), so it should be interesting to see him headline a feel-good weekend show opposite someone as funny as Ra Mi-ran.
This new drama is brought to you by writer Gu Hyun-sook, who was behind weekend dramas Hundred Year Inheritance and Legendary Witch, and PD Hwang In-hyuk who directed political series Assembly and Myung-wol the Spy.
Laurel Tree Tailors is scheduled to follow Five Children on KBS when it finishes its run in August this year.

I don't watch weekend dramas, but I'm happy that Ra Mi-Ran is being kept busy! I've no idea what her filming history is like, or whether three dramas this year is normal for her, but...good for her!

It not normal actually. What normal replaced that dramas with movies.
I think I will watch this. It been long time since What Happen's to the Family. Can't wait to know the actor for young cast or family.

I don't think I've ever wanted a weekend drama to happen ever. But I want this to happen with these two in these roles so badly. I aspire to Ra Mi-ran's level of talent, care, and coolness.

Ra Mi Ran is one of those, who does not need to be a leading lady to steal the show. Her ability to make her presence known despite of limited screen time is a great thing. Maybe I will try this if I have time. When I looked about her, she really have list of movies projects

Yay first lead ever for Ra Mi Ran right?!!
Is this a long drama? KBS weekend drama never disappointing.
And Fashion King kind of drama plot? She is there too! Although many don't like it I'm always adoring Yoo Ah In and Shin Se Kyung chemistry, waiting the full description!

I've always wanted to see Cha In Pyo back with the awesome Kim Nam Joo, since I saw them in a long-running drama a long time ago.

this is a couple I have not imagine to be paired with, but now that I read this article and saw their pictures together.... I can totally see it. It's going to be fun. And a KBS weekend drama?! I'm totally watching this! Hoping it has the same vibe as My Husband Got A Family~!

anyone a sucker for weekend family dramas? I know I am... Smile You. My Husband Got a Family. Ojakgyo Brothers. Sons of Sol Pharmacy. Jang Bori is Here, etc.
and I love, love, love Ra Mi Ran, so I'm definitely waiting for this (though I'm comfortably watching Five Children atm)!

Same here.
I love the three sibling setup and a feel good story where they all fall in love. So What Happens To My Family, My Husband Got A Family, Ojakgyo Brothers, All About My Mom, Lee Soon Shin is the Best, Five Kids.
Is Jang Bo Ri of a similar mold as those? I always thought for some reason it was more a melo than a feel good story. Any other shows like these?
Ra Mi Ran is kind of too young to be a mother of three kids, though. Maybe she's a sister?

Jang Bo Ri is not just feel good story - it is good girl/evil girl story. -There are tons of similar shows but somehow I enjoyed Jang Bori.

Cha In-pyo is like the older and better-at-acting version of Song Seung-hun xD

I love Cha In-Pyo ever since watching him in "Wish Upon a Star" with Choi Jin-Shil and Ahn Jae-Wook.
True, he does have intensity to his acting. He was in a KBS daily sitcom in 2012 "I Need a Fairy," but I have not seen it.
I loved "Legendary Witch" from this writer.
"Assembly" is one of my all time favorite Kdrama. Such excellence!
I have only seen Ra Mi-Ran in "The Firstborn" (excellent drama). She was good, but good enough to take lead role in a drama? I am not sure about that....
