Name That Drama: Guilty white hairs and oppa love

As always, feel free to email us your questions and requests for future Name That Drama installments.

  1. Nothing a truck o’ doom can’t fix

Hi!! I was actually trying to guess the answer to the first drama described in the November 24th installment of “Name That Drama” because it sounded familiar, and reminded me of a drama I watched quite a long time ago (around 2008-2009). I wasn’t familiar with dramas yet, so at the time I didn’t really pay attention to it, but I couldn’t remember the name of the drama and it’s driving me CRAZY since I can only remember the rough plot of the show. It goes like this:

A mother and daughter are living together (no father), and are really poor. So in order to make money, the mom forced the daughter to become a model. The daughter didn’t like the idea, but obviously didn’t dare to go against her mom, so she just followed what her mom told her to do even if she wasn’t allowed to eat to “maintain a good body shape.” (I know it sounds weird—that’s what I thought too, which is why I stopped watching.)

Anyway, so after some time passed, they still hadn’t succeeded in finding an agency and the daughter started to feel tired of the pressure and restrictions given by her mom. When she finally had enough of it, she confronted her mom and said she would like to quit. Obviously, her mom got extremely angry at her but then got into an accident (hit by a car I think), and then her mom finally gave up on her obsession.

That was all I could remember though. I tried to recall the daughter’s face and then thought it looked similar to UEE or Davichi’s Minkyung, but when I looked at the dramas they’ve done, none of them matched. It’s almost ridiculous how much I’m really bothered by this, I WANNA KNOW THE NAME OF THAT DRAMA NOW!!! Dramabeans, helppppppp!!

  2. Male leads make for awkward human shields

    Hi Dramabeans community!

Okay, so back in elementary school (which was like, 2006-2010 for me), I liked watching dramas with my mom, but I almost always joined in in the middle of an episode, so I never really got most of the details of the drama. The drama that I can’t name is probably Korean, because, as a Korean household, my family really didn’t watch anything other than Korean dramas.

Anyway, I think the drama I’m remembering is a medical drama. I’m not entirely sure though. The two leads were in an elevator and the elevator got more and more cramped as more people entered the elevator. The man protects the woman from getting squished by using his body as a shield.

Once everyone leaves, the two share an awkward moment still pressed against each other (in an empty elevator, might I add), and the man kind of shifts his head to move in for a kiss, but the woman keeps moving her head away to avoid the kiss. I’m not sure if the woman was just playing hard to get or if she was just not attracted to this man, but whatever. The man and woman definitely work in the same place. I cannot for the life of me remember who the actor and actress were, otherwise I would just look it up for myself.

  3. Straight to the point

It took place in an apartment/room/flat. The girl was talking to her boyfriend (I suppose), and her friend was watching them. Then the argument got messy, he wanted her to come back with him but she didn’t want to, then suddenly the girl’s friend killed her boyfriend with a glass or ashtray (basically clear glass things).

They freaked out, then a guy (super handsome and cute) came by later to bury the dead boyfriend’s body. The next day, the friend of the girl’s hair turned white and she became this weird, unbalanced girl.

Please help me, because I think it has a really good story, but I can’t remember anything besides that scene.

  4. Name That Variety Show

Okay, this was a long time ago. But I think it was on the KBS World channel that I saw this show called Meet The World: Real Challenge where the guest was taken to the coldest town in the world.

But that’s not the problem. I just want to know who the guest was that episode. I thought that Oppa was very cute and just can’t stop thinking about him (*blushes*). I hope you guys can help this hopeless fangirl who’s in love with an oppa whose name she doesn’t even know.

  5. Name That Quote

Hi! Can you help me? I found this quote from a recent kdrama, but I forgot which one. If you by any chance know where it comes from, can you help me with it? Thanks! The quote:

“You can’t save people from their demons. They have to do that work themselves.”

    Thanks in advance!

  6. A blanket is just a blanket, until it isn’t

Hello there! I was skimming through Smile, You and there was a scene where the couple was sitting around a campfire with a blue blanket eating sweet potatoes, which triggered another scene in a drama that I’ve seen before, but I can’t seem to pinpoint it.

The only thing I remember is the main couple sitting near a campfire sharing a blanket, but they had a long kiss scene. It was just them, by themselves. They could’ve possibly been by some rocks, maybe the blanket was some shade of red or could’ve been plaid/checkered? I don’t really remember. It was definitely a Korean drama. I know there’s a bunch of dramas with scenes like this, but if someone could help me name some (or if someone knows this drama specifically), that’d be great. Thanks!

  7. It could have been a lot of things

I have watched so many dramas in my life. Too many I think, but well, you can never watch too many dramas. I have watched Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean dramas, but there is one I really liked, only I can’t remember the name and it’s driving me crazy.

I think it could have been a Taiwanese drama, or maybe a Korean or Japanese drama. Well, there was this scene I really loved but can’t remember which drama it is from. There is a girl and a boy talking, I think they were having a discussion or something, a classic drama cliche.

Anyway, it was late at night, I think they were at a park or something like that and they were saying goodbye. And the girl, I think it was the girl, was talking about how the present lasts about eight seconds or so, so they had that eight seconds and then the next eight would be the future and then those would become the past, or something along those lines. I am seriously thinking about re-watching my old dramas just to remember where it was from.

Please help. Oh, and I think the girl wasn’t the main lead, but the other girl and the guy were the leads. Well, at least I think so, anyway.

  8. Dramaland’s answer to Speed

I have had a Korean drama scene stuck in my head for weeks!! I know it’s a pretty recent drama, but I’ve watched so many dramas at once over the past few months that I can’t remember which drama it was.

Anyway, there’s a couple in this scene, and the girl was sulking or something so she drove off (or took a cab, can’t remember, but I knew she was in a car) and left the guy behind. The guy then goes off to chase her, but instead of taking a car, he took a bus and told the bus driver to chase after her! Hahaha. That’s all I can remember.

Thanks for playing, everyone — till next time!

They were finally being honest about their feelings, going all "I'll never let go of this hand" but then when they got back to Seoul and Ji-hyuk and Dani saw them..... hahahaha I can't spoil it but I'm sure anyone who watched DGCH would remember that. :D

Well, this ISN'T the drama I was thinking of, but it fits the clue perfectly. OB/GYN Doctors from 2010.

Totally blank on all the dramas, i actually laughed at 2 because i don't think there has ever been a drama in the history of Kdramas that doesn't have an elevator scene

Wait 2 seems like Bad guy (Kim nam gil) with one of the sisters, i remember the handhold with the elder sis but i think they had two or three more elevator scenes where they might have kissed.
Also que sera sera (Eric) has an elevator kiss scene.

#2 This is Emergency Couple for sure. It's one of my favorite drama's and I remember this scene. It's also a medical drama.

#6 Reminds me of that one scene in The Heirs where Lee Min Ho and Park Shin Hye are camping and sitting around the camp fire. And the blanket was red and checkered I think.

#7 I think it's Japanese drama Buzzer Beat. There was a scene where they broke up in a playground and they said goodbye to each other.

i dont have any guesses to offer, but it's funny how everyone thinks that #2 could be so many dramas. i guess dramaland never escapes its cliches?? lol..
but realistically speaking, #2 can't be emergency couple bc that aired in 2014 and op said her drama aired around her elementary school years/2006-2010 and i'm not sure if it's obgyn but the elevator scene in that-- i dont think the female lead kept moving her head to avoid the kiss though? maybe my memory fails me, but i recall them just kissing in the elevator and then the second lead saw them kissing in the elevator....

AH i rewatched the scene, there's a link above, and i'm pretty sure #2 is obgyn now

This scene is so common, the 1st drama that came to mind was a tw drama "bromance" but it's 2016
But I guess it's mandatory for dramas

Dramabean's contact info won't work/not send my message so hopefully this comment will go through...

I have a "Name that Drama/Movie" I'd love everyone's help on. I just tried to look again but am stuck.

So I can't remember if it's a drama or movie, I'm pretty sure it was a movie.

I also thought it starred the lady who was the star of a children's singing program. I think her name started with Kim J_______.

I can't remember much, I'm pretty sure it was released late 1990's or even early 2000's but I remember the leading mom is in some sort of accident and dies and comes back as a ghost. I believe that her son can see her? I think in the last scene of the movie, they are in a chapel cause the husband is remarrying and the boy throws a ball of some sort or chases a ball towards his mom and the mom is smiling but crying cause she's sad but happy that her family is moving on? I sound crazy but I swear, I've seen something like this before and I just don't know where or what it is. If anyone remembers, THANK YOU!
