Why hello there, Mr. Black

Okay, now we’re talkin’. Here we have our first stills for Goodbye Mr. Black, a drama about Lee Jin-wook and a gun and revenge. I’m pretty sure there’s more to it than that… but really, I don’t need much more. Sold!
But fine, let’s have the details: Lee Jin-wook stars in the upcoming MBC revenge drama as the Count of Monte Cristo-esque main character who is betrayed by his best friend; once optimistic and upbeat, naval officer Cha Ji-won returns with a harder edge and a new name, Black, to mete out some vengeance.
The plucky fake wife at his side (Moon Chae-won) is initially there to help establish his new identity, but their relationship then unfolds into a warm, sensitive romance. These secret-identity-revenge-thrillers always make me bloodthirsty for darker, more intense revenges, but I suppose a sweet romance would provide a nice balance. Just as long as we leave plenty of room for the wronged hero to kick some butt too. I mean, you don’t cast Lee Jin-wook and hand him a gun and expect him not to be badass about it.
The drama also stars Kim Kang-woo (Missing Noir M) playing a resort group chaebol who was once our hero’s friend, while Yoo In-young (Mask) plays Kim’s ice-princess wife whose first love was the hero. Song Jae-rim also has a role as a brainy editor of a small press.
Goodbye Mr. Black follows currently airing rom-com One More Happy Ending and kicks off on March 16.

Well hello, indeed! I read these stills were taken in Bangkok, Thailand, hope we get to see more of Bangkok. I'm looking forward to seeing Lee Jin-wook in this genre. I think the last time he was toting a gun for drama fans was in "Spy Myeong-wol" back in 2011. I like all the cast members and look forward to a memorable time watching this drama. Oh, they had me at Lee Jin Wook and Moon Chae Won (and Kim Kang Woo and Song Jae Rim), but ALL that too! It just needs some co-habitation (which presumably we'll get) and adrenaline-pumping action sequences to complete the set.
My only worry is I wish the writer had a better track record.

so many good things are happening...
I never read the manhwa before so I dont know what to expect. I hope they don't make Moon Chae Won a useless character that's like a damsel in distress...I love Moon Chae Won too much for that to happen.

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favourite books, and though I enjoyed the Hollywood adaptation of it well enough, it still left me disappointed. I loved Lee Jin Wook in The Time I Loved You, but I'm not sure I'm willing to let my love for CoMC be ruined again.

well, Lee Jin-wook seems to do great in adaptations of Dumas novels (see: Three Musketeers), so maybe that's a better sign?

since descendants is premiering first i will be watching it but of course GBMB is the kdrama i am anticipating most atm. i'll probs watch both dramas but may drop descendants and just stick with GBMB since i'm in school still lol :)

PS. i hope SBS' come back mister BOMBS because of karma for turning down GBMB. due to this i had to wait until 2016 for MCW's comeback when it could have been 2015!

Lols, can't say I wouldn't smile if there was vindictive karma on SBS.
But I have my eyes set on a bigger goal. Hopefully, this drama is a quality and well-received production. Don't know if the low-key marketing is on purpose, or really b/c MBC doesn't think it's worth it. Anyways, we'll find out soon.
So looking forward to GBMB despite JoongKi's DoTS.

How funny! Last night I was searching as much as I could about GBMB. I was wondering why there were no promotional teasers/stills yet and finally, here is a little something! I really cannot wait for this drama. It's the only drama I've been waiting for! I can't wait to see Moon Chae Won again as well. I love her to pieces! :)

Finally they released something beside script reading photos. The only kdrama I'm anticipating right now. Writer has both hit and miss so I trust MCW to pick a good script like she usually does
