Neighborhood Lawyer or neighborhood beggar
by girlfriday
It’s certainly a new look for Park Shin-yang (Sign), I’ll give you that. I know he plays a character that hits rock bottom before rising up and making something of himself, but I didn’t know rock bottom would look like this. It’s a cautionary tale if I’ve ever seen one. New KBS Monday-Tuesday drama Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho has released stills from the first shoot of lead characters Park Shin-yang and Kang So-ra (Warm and Cozy) meeting for the first time.
The webtoon adaptation promises to be a lighthearted human drama about a man named Jo Deul-ho who had his entire future laid out before him, as a rising star prosecutor on the way to becoming the son-in-law to the head of a large firm. But he witnesses corruption in the prosecutor’s office and reports it, and in the end he’s the one who loses everything. The drama is about him setting up his own little neighborhood law practice and becoming a person who helps others.
Kang So-ra also stars as a lawyer, though her character Lee Eun-jo is a bold, passionate, self-made career woman who’s a new hire at a large law firm. Ryu Soo-young (Strange Daughter-in-Law) plays the hero’s main rival, a hotshot prosecutor who competes with him for everything. Also co-starring are Park Sol-mi (Merchant Kim Man-deok) as a competitive lawyer, and Kim Dong-joon (Mandate of Heaven) as a hoodlum who comes to the neighborhood lawyer for help in freeing his wrongfully imprisoned father.
There are an awful lot of lawyers in dramaland these days, but who doesn’t love a scrappy underdog tale? I can forgive a lot for a heartwarming tale about the little guys triumphing over the corrupt establishment — even a mane of shame.
Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho premieres March 28.

Kang Sora really could've done with a new style too. She always looks the exact same in every drama she's done.
Also, I second the too-many-lawyers-today sentiment. Dramaland is flooded with them and its probably one of the worst trends for me in recent years.

Just yesterday I counted the number of days GF hasn't posted anything on Dramabeans and was getting so worried thinking you might not come back at all. My heart sank way way more than when drama plots go horribly awry. So yayyyyyy! So so so happy to see you here again! We've missed you! Hope all's well in life and that you were offline doing betterer rather than worser things.

First and foremost I love PSY... I haven't seen him in anything since Sign. Which I could never finish cause I found out the ending and rage quit the show. Crossing fingers for this one!

I just checked. He is the same age as her real dad. Oh hell no. 22 years gap.
Can somebody confirm what their relationship is in the drama?

WTF? Seriously. I was hoping becomes like a dad figure (or her dad she never knew even).
Man, that's disappointing. What a waste of a cast.

FYI Park Shin Yang also had loveline with Moon Geun Young in Painter of The Wind, though not fully-fledged one.
Just think something along POTW or Prime Minister And I. I'm okay with May-December romance as long as it's believable, although I would like them to only become partners/friends.

Wasn't Painter in the Wind based on that legends of a historical figure, though (which sometimes had the lady falling in love with her master)? So it would be weird not to hint at the loveline in that case.
Prime Minister and I was already a huge stretch for me.

@kanz
Likewise. I am pro-oppa romance actually. I don't care about the age, as long as chemistry works. I love Prime Minister and I and I am looking forward to this another oppa romance drama.

@kanz
I am with you I have no problem if there's a loveline.
If Lee Seo jin can do it with Uee why not PSY & KS.
Like you said PSY also had loveline with MGY & MGY is even more girly than KS.
I just hope they have great working chemistry, loveline or not.
Looking forward to Neighborhood Lawyer!

Park Shin Yang, Kang SoRa and Ryu Soo Young...three of the most versatile actors of their generation IN ONE DRAMA. What more should I ask for?
Can't wait for this!! Hoping that it'll be as good as Remember since the cast are really great.

Yes this drama has a great line-up besides the three you mentioned there is also Park Sol Mi. The four main cast are solid actors.

Hope it does well but KBS Monday-Tuesday slot usually never tops ratings, so good luck to them.
I hope this is not another flop drama for Kang Sora after Warm and Cozy. I like her a lot and wish she got better dramas, it's so unfair that terrible actresses have writers working like dogs to cover their skills while KSR gets lazy writing like w&c.

This looks promisihg! I'm all for an underdog success story. This is tangent but is anyone also experiencing the same thing as me? I'm using my mobile phone and I tried clicking the desktop view option but it doesn't work anymore.

Nice meeting you again, Mr Park after having to put up with the horrible acting from the so-called idols on Monday-Tuesday. A very much welcome change!!
