Lee Jong-seok, Han Hyo-joo offered leads in new drama from Nine writer

This would be quite the lineup, if it comes to pass (currently, all parties are considering, not confirmed): Han Hyo-joo (Beauty Inside, Dong Yi) and Lee Jong-seok (Pinocchio) are both being courted for an MBC drama titled simply W, which comes from writer Song Jae-jung of time-bendy thriller Nine (also Queen In-hyun’s Man and Three Musketeers) and PD Jung Jae-yoon of last year’s hit com-com She Was Pretty.

Representatives from both actors’ camps confirmed that the offer had been extended, though news is very thin on the ground: The only information about the drama is that it’s about a man and women in their early thirties. That’s it! I mean, knowing this writer there’s probably going to be an intricate plot, some cheeky humor, maybe some time travel and a sprinkling of mystical elements, all rolled up into a tightly written package — but for now all we have to go on is, quite literally, “boy meets girl.”

Lee Jong-seok has had good luck with picking hit dramas (…minus one, maybe), so I expect he’ll choose carefully this time around as well. And with Han Hyo-joo being away from dramaland for years, her last series being 2010’s Dong Yi, she’ll probably be even choosier about her return.

MBC hasn’t given the show a timeslot yet, but W is looking at a summer broadcast, sometime “between July and September.” C’mon news. Couldn’t you have at least waited till there was something more to get excited about? I guess in this case, everyone figured the mere prospect of these stars and producers working together was excitement enough.

ahhhhh!finally Han hyo joo is considering a drama role, man!i misssss her so much!I didn't watch any kdrama since her last appearance in small screen i think her last one was dong yi & that was in 2010!luckily she's active in movies or else i'll definitely go insane without any works from her...hmmmm for me it would be better if hyo joo will be paired up with someone more mature than lee jong suk...

Oh yes, oh yes! Pick this up please! I love Nine, I love Queen In-Hyun's Man and I was following The Three Musketeers till they decided to stop it! Han will also be the best leading lady for him so far - I desperately need to wipe away memories of the last one anyway. So please say yes to this and 2016 will be the best!

I like Han Hyo Joo. Fan of her works. Became interested in W since I found out she's in it. I normally don't know Korean actors/actresses', but loved Dong Yi, and learned her name to see her other works. I've never watched Korean films before, but recently tried watched most of hers, and made me more of a fan.

I'm not Korean. I'm Vietnamese-American. So maybe I don't get the Korean mentality. I read HHY's bio when I tried to find her other projects, and was shocked to read how Koreans apparently campaigned to publicly shame her and get her off projects, because of her so-called scandals. The possibly damaging pictures of her and her boyfriend is somewhat scandalous, but the issue with her brother bullying someone else, is totally not even her fault. I'd hate for people to blame me for things my siblings do. But I guess it's a common cultural thing for some Koreans, to blame an entire family, for one person's wrongdoings?

Also, I'm a moderate drama watcher, not as avid as others here, and have probably only fully watched maybe 10 Korean dramas. I actually got tired of dramas in general and haven't watched many in a few years. Over the last few years, I've watched "49 days", which I loved; "Birth of a Beauty", and "Bride of the Century" (I liked both). When I found out Han Hyo Joo was going to be in a drama, I was intrigued. I found out about W around the time Episode 9 had just come out.

I've never watched a drama that's currently airing. Usually, I see them after they've been dubbed in Vietnamese, and that usually takes at least a year after production. Soon as I found out about HHY in W, I watched them, in Korean, with English subtitles, right away. Marathoned all available episodes (up to episode 9), and waited anxiously for each new episode.

I loved W. Became addicted. Will now anxiously wait for it to get dubbed in Vietnamese, so that I can watch it again, probably with English subtitles again though. I thought Han Hyo Joo did a good job, as did Lee Jong-seok. Scene stealer was the dad/villain though.
