Rising stars Choi Woo-shik, Lee Won-geun up to play romantic rivals
by javabeans
Choi Woo-shik (Ho-gu’s Love) and Lee Won-geun (Sassy Go Go) have both had big years, they’re both baby-faced up-and-comers to keep an eye out for, and now we may be seeing them acting in the same movie, titled Your Name Is Jang-mi.
The movie is a romance drama about a sad love, intertwining a past storyline with the present. Choi Woo-shik and Lee Won-geun will play two young men who get caught in a love triangle with the lead, named Jang-mi; Lee Won-geun will play a medical student, while the character Choi Woo-shik is considering hasn’t been specified. All I know is, they’re both sweet-faced actors with crinkly smiles who can turn serious on a dime, so I expect this romantic rivalry to be thoroughly angst-making. Maybe they’ll just decide they love their bromance more?
Your Name Is Jang-mi sounds like it’ll be aiming for a mood of warmth and nostalgia — not unlike hit movies like Sunny or Introduction to Architecture, I’m thinking. In fact, cast to play the middle-aged Jang-mi in the present-day timeline is actress Yoo Ho-jung, who played the lead in Sunny looking back on her school days (she was also more recently in the drama Heard It Through the Grapevine).
Casting news isn’t out yet for the twentysomething Jang-mi, but the film will begin shooting in February so I presume decisions will have to be finalized shortly.

LEE WON GEUN!! I've been missing that eye smile since Sassy Go Go, but I'm so glad to see him booking more work.
But the casting directors are going to have to work hard looking for the young female lead, if they want someone who'll match up to Yoo Ho-jung...... or have chemistry with LWG as fantastic as him+Jung Eunji.
Also glad to see Yoo Ho-jung back on the big screen again, I loved her in Grapevine (seriously, such a good drama) but it's so, so different from her character in Sunny, it's insane.

also, I figured out why this casting news gave me an automatic smile - it involves potentially putting the leads of my two favourite dramas of 2015 in the same project, even if they never share a scene.

I personally wasn't a fan of Lee Won-geun in Sassy Go Go. He did fine and wasn't bad and I still loved the show but there was just something about him that I found a bit off. He does have an adorable smile though!

Lee Won Geun!! Yay, I'm so glad he's getting more work. I do hope this movie is good. Not exactly my cup of tea but much better than that other movie he's starring in and that's coming out soon.

If she is, we can expect to have a baby face love triangle. ;)
Sadly she still has no agency at the moment. Hopefully will hear about her agency news soon.

Lee Wongeun's side glance & thoughtful smiles are captivating. He is effortlessly charming and pensive, sometimes going between the two states within a second. Haven't fallen in love with an actor like him in a long, long time!

I think for last year, Choi Woo Shik won awards left and right. He can be called the male Chun Woo Hee because both of them starring in indie movie that bring them those awards.
I wonder if this kind of movie is kinda a trend. There's this type of movie every year at least 2-3 of them.
