Park So-dam courted for You’re the First opposite Jung Il-woo
by girlfriday
Park So-dam, Jung Il-woo
I was bracing myself for them to pair Jung Il-woo with someone disappointing, but I couldn’t be happier with this news. I really like up-and-comer Park So-dam, who was the big breakout actress in film this last year (Black Priests, Veteran, C’est Si Bon, Sado, The Silenced, The Royal Tailor). She’s been offered the leading role in the new drama You’re the First, a teen romance about a high school girl who moves into a mansion with three beautiful brothers: Jung Il-woo, Ahn Jae-hyun (Blood), and CNBLUE’s Lee Jung-shin (Temptation).
The drama is an adaptation of a 2-part novella called Cinderella and Four Knights by Baek-myo, about a girl who’s treated like an outsider in her own home when her father remarries. She helps out an old man one day without knowing that he’s a chaebol, and he offers her a chance to live in a giant mansion with his three grandsons and one bodyguard. With his generosity, she’s able to attend a prestigious school, and forms a new little family with her new roommates.
Her character is described as smart, resilient, and good at sports, and she dreams of becoming a veterinarian. The boys are carefree and do as they please, but are cold and emotionally closed off. As they all live together, they’ll learn to depend on one another, and begin to think of themselves as a family. And of course, a first love will bloom among them too.
Jung Il-woo and Ahn Jae-hyun have been attached to the project since last month, and Park So-dam and Lee Jung-shin have just joined them in the potential lineup, with everyone’s official stance at: “considering favorably.” I don’t actually care who they lock in as the other two brothers, just as long as I get the Jung Il-woo/Park So-dam pairing. She was very cute in the low-key cable drama Because It’s the First Time with Minho and Kim Min-jae, but the drama never made a big splash. It’d be great to see her have a breakout year in TV as well, not to mention the fact that Jung Il-woo needs a good drama, stat.
You’re the First has yet to find a broadcaster, and is hoping to air in 2016.
Ahn Jae-hyun, Lee Jung-shin

I think she looks like Kim Go Eun too. They're friends and went to the same school, but KGE decided to debut first. I read a PSD interview and she said she liked school so much she delayed her debut.

Always ready for Jung Il Woo =)
Also Park So Dam is so pretty in an unconventional way, and talented to boot!
Happy to see Jungshin return to dramas.
The plot sounds interesting, looking forward to it.

Bits and pieces of the setup reminds me of "Atashinchi no Danshi".

It made me think about Yamato Nadeshiko Chichi Henge, although the female is obviously completely different (and thus the overall vibe of the drama) – but something about four handsome boys in a mansion at the feet (by the end at least) of one girl... I think it's a set-up in quite a few Japanese dramas.
Not a bad premise, but not convinced yet – not a cast that particularly interests me so far.

On the contrary it made me think about Atashinchi no Danshi since the girl is kind and the boys are cold and the boys are softened by the girl. But then in that one all of them were siblings. As girlfriday said Jung Il Woo needs a good drama. Hope they find a broadcaster soon.

Agree, I also think it's a ripoff of Atashinchi no Danshi. Perky girl, cold fellows, dysfunctional family, freaky mansion. Girl brings the family together, finds love. It works OK as a sort of modern fairy tale.

Yeah, I am watching to much Korean dramas, or like my daughter like to put it, "them foreign shows".

I haven't seen her in any of the movies (shout-out if anyone has a rec!) but I'm always up for more promising actresses headlining in dramaland.
Side note: Does anyone else think JIL and her look distractingly similar in the pic above? Like I'd believe it if they said she was his long-lost twin lol. Maybe it's the hair?

Lee Jung Shin! Although I also wish to see Kang Min Hyuk return to screen one day too. Yonghwa (Three Musketeers) and Lee Jong Hyun (Orange Marmalade) already did recently.... Now there's only Min Hyuki left.

I read somewhere that it was going to be a web drama, and I remember thinking that was a shame. I am relieved to read that it will be broadcast on tv. Maybe this might be Il woo's last project before he leaves for the army?

like who?
That's an honest question, every time we name someone whose acting pretty much blows chunks all around, someone will always pop up with the excuse of the mythical 'lots' of 'worse' actors. It happens like clockwork on every idol-actor/crappy actor post.

I didn't watch Blood, but I watched "You from another star" (I liked him there) and "You're all surrounded" (bland most of the time)
I think L in "Master's sun" was worse, but he improved after that.
And if we are talking about actor in general, not only male actors, I think that actress that talks like she was chewing the words in "Warm and Cozy" the worst one.

neither L nor that Warm & Cozy creature (nor most abysmal idol actors really) were ever main leads in a movie/drama, unlike AJH.
And even then, they're only two people - hardly the 'lots of worse' actors suggested. AJH may be bearable sometimes but that seems to depend on his screen time being restricted and him not being allowed to emote.

@pogo, I'm not the person that suggested that there were "lots of worse"... In my opinion there are worse (like the 2 I mentioned), but not lots of.
But I think I understand what you mean.
It's not about acting skills (or the absence of it) but about the power to destroy a drama being an undeserved main character, am I right?!
If so, I can't list anyone. Because I didn't watch Blood. I can't compare with others MC that I disliked.

Really, isn't she too good to star opposite them in a web drama, after the kind of praise she was getting in 2015? Jung Il Woo's last few projects were so disappointing, now if I hear he took a drama I am mentally prepared for it to be crap.

Still, a talented actress getting lead roles is a good thing, better than having a bad one in lead.

Why does the plot sound like Diabolik Lovers to me?
Well, I must admit, there are plenty of Japanese animes with a similar plotline (girl moves into a house with many pretty boys/reverse harem-ish).

Sooo This sounds like 1% of Anything + Boys Over Flowers + [Insert Favorite Cohabitation/Artificial Family Drama Here]. Not that it's a bad think. Indiviually, we've seen all these set ups before... but this particular mish-mash is kind of fresh. Sounds interesting. I hope Jung Il Woo wont be playing a high schooler, though.

Love Jung Il-Woo so I will watch this just for him. Plus, the show sounds cute. Reminds me a bit of the manga Wallflower.
I've not seen anything with Park So-dam but I love how she has not followed the trend of getting double-eyelid surgery. She is still beautiful without it.

I've read the novel and it's a bit makjang. The poor girl meet with a handsome but cold chaebol. And the cast is ahn jae hyun and lee jung shin who is not that good as actor. Jung il woo is handsome and good at acting but always struggle to pick a good drama

Why is it everytime they paired up Jung Il Woo with young korean actresses, there's no spark chemistry that starts to bloom?
But if he's with those actress that is older than him, he had a super duper better chemistry with them like his leading ladies in High Kick, 49days, return of iljimae, and flower boy ramyun shop.
Did you noticed this too guys?
My friend shared this to me long time ago, when I observe it, i realized she's right.. hahaha lol
