Hyun Bin to headline action blockbuster movie

I’m not surprised that Hyun Bin is headed back to the big screen, since his last drama Hyde, Jekyll, Me was a disappointment on many fronts. Just don’t go away forever, okay? I do like the idea of him headlining an action blockbuster this time, and getting away from the same old chaebol hero type we’ve seen him do so much of. He’s signed on to star in the new movie Alliance as his next project, an action thriller about a secret undercover investigation unit between North and South Korea.
The new film comes from producer Yoon Je-kyun of the heartwarming family epic Gukje Market/Ode to My Father, and director Kim Sung-hoon of My Little Hero. It’s about an unofficial North-South investigative unit, and the description remains vague on what exactly they’d be investigating. Spy-on-spy crime? Murders along the DMZ?
Hyun Bin has been cast to play a North Korean detective in the hidden organization, and will be tackling a North Korean dialect as well as intensive action sequences for the role. I’m looking forward to the darker action thriller lead for him, because if he’s anything like Hot Jeongjo in Fatal Encounter, count me in. Or yunno, we could just do a sequel to that movie, Even More Fatal Encounter. That would make my day.
Alliance plans to start shooting in early 2016, for a release later that year.

I think Hyun Bin is an excellent actor but I haven't seen him play anything other then that rich chaebol character. It will be interesting to have him play something other then that.

HB's performances in Late Autumn and Come Rain Come Shine were unforgettable. When I first watched Secret Garden and MNIKSS I was surprised how those roles paled in comparison to his cinema career...I recommend those films to whomever wants to see a different aspect of him as an actor.

Late Autumn and Come Rain Come Shine are favourites of mine as well (though I don't think they are very popular films – too arthouse, too "nothing happens").
Can't say I'm excited about this blockbuster action movie. They all tend to be the same, rarely is there one that stands out. Nor are the heroes in these kind of films particularly interesting characters.

@Trinpie I advise you to look at a few of his movies , you will discover that he can hold other roles and is very talented. Besides being beautiful :)
His performance in 'come rain come shine' or 'late autumn' or ' friends our legend' were all acclaimed
Anyway, the producer and director of 'Cooperation' will never approach and work with him if they do not know he is talented

Hyde Jekyll Me is the drama that made me like Hyun Bin. More than the famous Secret Garden.
I found ridiculous this story of body switch in Secret Garden. But I appreciated the candor of Robin in HJM and the elegance of Seo Jin. I was not able to fall in love with the beast kim joo won but I haven't stopped to dreaming of Seo Jin
So for a person like me, impossible to forget this drama.
For someone like me who has not left influencé by others, impossible to forget this drama
You may not understand my sentiment as I've never oh never understood people who adulated Secret Garden but our common point is we received all something of magic from this great actor

He is good looking, popular and can act but I'm just not into him for some reason. Maybe it's the characters that he portrays. Maybe when people talk about him, his looks always comes first and it usually ends with (Hyun Bin, he's hot must watch).
I'm glad he is venturing into Chungmuro. It's nice to see him play something different than his usual drama characters. I wish some of these directors would stop selling his hotness and let him act.

Oh but that doesn't apply only to Hyun Bin, there is an unwritten law, that makes shirtless scenes mandatory usually as shower scenes but from time to time they try to change it a bit.
As for the movie, reminded me a bit of The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

I'll watch anything - I mean, just about anything - for Hyun Bin. So the fact that this sound exciting is a bonus lol. He isn't the best in picking projects but his acting always makes up for it so I'm super thrilled for this.

It was reported that when he came out of the army, he got 500+ proposals. Out of them, he picked Hyde J&M. That thing must have looked very appealing on paper. 2 HBs must be better than 1 right? And in a rom-com too. He guessed wrong! So very very wrong.
If I were him, I'd stay away from rom-coms and the small screen for a v long time, and that HJ&M PD team for the rest of my life.

As I posted that comment, the soundtrack of Secret Garden (the slow instrumental by Kim Ji Soo) started playing on my iTunes. Magic! How I miss Hyun Bin... (MNIKSS was one of my early K-drama favourites) need to see him in a new rom-com, ideally a TVN one.

First. Stop to claim that hydejekyllme shoul to be forget......maybe you haven't watch it but there are many many lovers of it drama. You think like this drama got 0% of rating. Regarding rating please note that HJM got an average of 5% forthe 20 episodes. Please look how many do almost of currents drama? The same dear....only few drama like yong pal or all about my mom did super score for 2015. Even your famous kmhm that haters always compare to HJM (...) do only 9% for his final. So please stop Dramabean and others your negativism.........

When a viewer dislike a drama or an actor there is always a good reason for it and most of us don't take it as hating. So if you like a crappy drama and a crappy actress like we all do at some point then go right ahead. @Kiara, yes it is surely very easy to create a new name and to invent a new one (proof I became suddenly Kiara ... as you ) but it is more difficult to accept that there are 'few' people who do not share the same opinion as itself.
Otherwise, either you are from the admin of this page to confirm this vehemently (I do not think this is the case _ as i know that Dramabeans is managed by professional team ), or simply, to use your own term above, you come from another star and you do not accept that 'some' more people do not share your idea.
Because when posts from at least 6 differents names use the same term and opinions like ' i had amnesia...' ' you did nothing since the army comeback....it's not seem estrange but just normal and especially not funny

All stop the war on Hyde Jekyll Me. Hyun Bin has manh fans so many can like this drama and many can't like. All stars and all dramas are under this rule. And 2015 is especially a bad rating for all dramas. Even Han ji Won the queen of rating never get8% for his last drama. Healer got 'only' 8% in average of rating and lasty the so expected She was pretty did 4.5% . So if you based on rating all dramas was failed. Just keep your love. Personnaly i love so much secret garden. HjM less but be honnest isn't so bad as many told. I'm wondering if this drama hasn't special haters or non fans. Maybe they want keep Hyun Bin only for Ha Ji Won. And yes. The OST is so good . Ok ok 'that man' first but try to listen also 'because of you' . And to close my comment : i love you Hyun Bin and i'll always support you because you deserve it. Not because you are handqome but more for the hard work you provide and for your taleny. Oufffffff finished

Yes it was also a big surprised of 2015 that Ha Ji Won has never exceeded the 7.1% national average for his latest drama. She who always did 15% and more easily. Even Ha Ji Won had infinite L and the other guy Pinocchio to support her, the fans have not followed. Like Koreans was very punctillious for 2015
Fortunately, Kim Tae Hee is here to save this year's drama ratings. I love her so much also
NB: Hyun Bin and Kim Tae Hee have worked a lot together in the past :)

Hyun Bin and Han Ji Min deserve more than haters comments i think. They was good and lovely. At least let's respect the lovers of this drama. I think that that's power of the popularity; you create always buzz. Look HJM was rated like more than others dramas as said above but it's create big buzz on that. AND it create 'amnesia' on others persons.

Im happy bae is going back to work and i definitely won't blame him if he never does another drama. i hated the drama that shall not be named for ruining his comeback and most of all tainting his career, especially after learning how hard he struggled to be successful. I just can't. I still the writer should be banned from writing.
Im glad there guys who love LATE AUTUMN and COME RAIN COME SHINE, i really want to discuss the ending of both movies or read about it what other people thought, any recommendations ?

@Francesca Fatal Encounter scored more than 3 millions of ticket sold and made a buzz when it was released, so it was not at all a failure

The reviews were mixed to negative and it didn't placed in the top 50 for highest grossing film in Korea. It made around 15-16 million dollars in profit minus the budget. I would say it was a failure if it didn't make any profit at all.
I think it was disappointing only because the expectation was high and it was nowhere near the success of "The Masquerade", "Face Reader", "War of the Arrows"even the 10yr old "King and the Clown."

People need to stop thinking so seriously about the amnesia. We are only saying it because that drama disapointed us, not because we hate Hyun Bin. I love him to the moon and back but that doesn't mean I will enjoy his every drama.
Every actors have drama that force amnesia on us.
