Twenty Again casts Choi Ji-woo’s son and classmate
by girlfriday
We’ve got new casting additions to tvN’s coming-of-age campus drama Twenty Again, which stars Choi Ji-woo (Temptation) as a mother who decides to go back to school and joins her son as a member of his university’s freshman class. Cue embarrassing but utterly adorable mother-son hijinks? Kim Min-jae (The Producers, Persevere Gu Hae-ra) has joined the cast as Choi Ji-woo’s son, and Apink’s Sohn Na-eun (Childless Good Fortune) will play his girlfriend and fellow freshman at their school.
The new series from writer So Hyun-kyung (Two Weeks) and PD Kim Hyung-shik (Suspicious Housekeeper) stars Choi Ji-woo as a former dancer who became a young wife and mother at 19, and spent the last two decades of her life solely focused on raising her son. In an effort to redirect her future she heads to college to pursue a degree, and in the process gets to experience the regular life of a 20-year-old for the first time.
Kim Min-jae will play her only child, a typical member of his generation who sees college as a means to build up your specs for the workforce and throws all his energy into resume-building. He’s the kind of son who believes that his mother’s sole purpose for existing is to be his mother, and will have a rude awakening when Mom shows up on campus as his classmate.
To make matters even more awkward, his girlfriend (Sohn Na-eun) will be part of their freshman class. Will they be friends? Enemies? The most uncomfortable study buddies ever? This is the stuff that was so fun about Angry Mom, and even without disguising her age, the fact that she’ll be their classmate is bound to be socially weird and really funny.
Lee Sang-yoon (Liar Game) has been cast as Choi Ji-woo’s love interest, though it should be noted that she’s got a husband. Both Lee Sang-yoon and her husband are college professors, and we’ll have to see how they cast the husband role to find out more about his character (and their marital status). Lee Sang-yoon, on the other hand, is her first love from high school — they attended the same school of the arts as teens, and they’ll reunite on campus as student and teacher.
Twenty Again follows Oh My Ghostess on Fridays and Saturdays beginning in late August.

She was pretty good in Childless comfort and in "Speed" drama music video acting alongside Ji chan Wook and Park Bo Young. I'm so excited because this drama is from Two weeks writer. I love that drama

@redfox - "but can she act?"
by idol actor standards, maybe? At least this is only a supporting role, no one will put even the most popular idol above Choi Ji Woo.

Okay, I'm getting Angry Mom vibe..
Hmm, will Son Na Eun and Choi Ji Woo be frenemies? Unnie-dongsaeng? Like Kim Hee Sun with her female jjang friends.

Me, too! But I think this will be better because it's more awkward if you're son is your classmate.
Looking forward to Choi Ji-woo and Lee Sang-yoon. :)

This is totally Angry Mum without the dark side and with a love interest to the mum character. We can name this Curious Mum? And please can we have Ji Soo as Bok Dongie back? I seriously miss him like butter on bread. At least a cameo? With Kim Hee Sun??? ??

I like the story. :) Looks like it won't go the "secret age" route and just straight up enroll her as an ajumma. I hope this is a comedy, I want to see CJW in a comedy.
I only know her from melos/serious roles but her variety appearances are always funny.

LOL. I'm now more interested to see the fall out and his shock than mom's college shenanigans.

I wouldn't call it a shocking. He could rap fast but that doesn't exactly mean he rapped well. I have to admit his audition was pretty good but his 2nd round wasn't.

Really I like his 2nd round rap though. Even Verbal Jint said he start getting comfortable towards the end and was really good but he already push the fail button during the start when he was nervous thus making his rap sound force. I really thought their main reason for eliminating him is because he was an upcoming rookie actor. They were already skeptical about him when he said he was an actor and when he mention it on his rap that's when they push their button. Plus Jay said he was a really good rapper with great potential and all the even judges agreed, he said they fail him because of his style. They said he had no appeal as a rapper even if he can indeed rap.

Na Eun always looks pretty. I hope her act doesn't burst my bubble of adoration toward her.
Wish the best for this drama. Can't wait to watch Lee Sangyoon back on screen too. ^^

I feel you! She's so pretty and my girl crush =) hehehe
In fairness, the idols from CUBE/ACUBE seems to have good acceptable acting abilities (Dujun, Kikwang, Junhyung, Sungjae, Minhyuk, Eunji, Chorong, Naeun).
Looking forward to this =)

I always crack up when these dramas come around. *gasp* Older person going back to college?! Oh noes the weird!!2! I think it's because my own college had a high amount of non-trads (as they were nicknamed) so it doesn't really phase us. Though I feel for her son since having mom in the same class will be super awkward.
I'm curious if mom will be a good student right off the bat or have issues balancing things. Either way I can't wait to watch!

I'm really liking this cast! Was sad to see Kim Min-jae eliminated from SMTM4 but at least we'll be seeing more from him on this show. Also, LEE SANG YOON!!! I hope he's the romantic lead. I need those dimples back in my life.

Can't a woman be interested in her husband? I mean; a love interest for crying out loud.
Is it because adultery is no longer a crime in Korea?

I agree, Why can't a woman be interested in her husband? Why can't they shake things up from the daily rut they have surely fallen into after a two decades long marriage and reignite their feelings for each other apart from their roles as husband, wife and parents? It's something every long term married couple has to do at least once in their lives together. A successful marriage is alway a work in progress and it would be nice to see this reflected in a drama. But the husband will probably be written as an emotionally cold, taking-her for-granted, adulterous schmuck and we will be forced to think she's well rid of him and justified in finding comfort in another man's arms. I hope not although I don't have a particular problem with an exploration of infidelity as a theme for drama.
I do like the set-up though. A woman, not appreciated by her husband and son, who has spent her life in the service of others and put others' wishes and needs ahead of her own decides to shake things up and do what she wants to do for a change.

Wow! I like this cast. I just hope they don't mess it up. I liked the mother-daughter hijinks of AM. But I think the bullying part was better in WAY. I just couldn't take the big baddies. I just wasn't interested in their corruption or whatever they do.

This has cheating husband written all over it. That or they end up divorcing at the beginning and it's the reason why she's going back to school which might cause even more of a strain on her and her son relationship. DRAMA!

I've noticed Kim Min-Jae is really getting up there recently, and he has a lot of talent, so yay to this drama! Also, Na-Eun's pic here looks stunning. I'm a bit sick of campus dramas/high school/coming of age/Angry mom themes (mom coming back to school) but will def be checking out the first ep :)

I just hope before LSY and CJW character start a relationship here she will at least be divorce with her husband already. I am fine with wife-husband falling out or maybe they married only because she got pregnant so I'm fine with her finding someone else and falling in love again but please she should divorce her husband first. Adultery is still adultery no matter what even if you did it out of real love.

oh this is going to be awesome *hugs self in delight* :D Looks like we'll have a slew of great dramas in this timeslot - Oh My Ghost then 20 Again followed by Reply 1988.
20 again sounds really fun, like you said it has all the humorous potential of angry mom without any really tragic/scary plot to bog it down. As long as it doesn't get makjang (and it can't possibly on this channel) it should be a fun breezy watch with interesting inter-personal conflicts :]

The plot sounds fresh! I had to comment because reading the plot gave me flashbacks of the time when my mom mentioned about taking her phd in the same uni me and my bros were in. Ah, I love my mom but she was the stereotypical tiger mom when we siblings were younger, so the idea seemed horrible to us. It just felt like she wanted to enroll just so she could monitor our studies more closely. Plus, her curriculum required her to take an undergrad subject that I too needed, so ahh I can't even imagine what would've happened. Good thing we talked her into delaying it a bit.
Anyway, I'm anticipating how this drama will turn out. I've only seen Kim Min Jae in Producers, and thought he was okay, so I hope he pulls this off.
As for Naeun, she's pretty, but I haven't seen her in anything, so I'll just have my fingers crossed hoping she'll be decent.
