Running Man: Episode 255
by gummimochi
Time to beat the summer heat this week with refreshing games and even more refreshing guests. History will repeat itself in a few games and love will abound in this episode. With delicious (and healthy) food on the line, our casts and their guests will give it their all to get a taste of the dish, and perhaps, victory.
EPISODE 255. Broadcast on July 12, 2015.
On a hot summer day in Gyeongju, our guys get excited by the blind date setting for the opening. Reading the cutesy messages left for them by their teammates builds up the anticipation, and we see the ladies take their respective seats.
Jae-suk pulls up the blinds to see SISTAR’s Soyu, while Jong-kook is paired with Apink’s Bomi, and gets too excited too early about Gary’s teammate, AOA’s Seolhyun.
Having told the other guys to lay off his teammate this time, Suk-jin pulls up his blinds just enough to see our Ji-hyo on the other side. Haha high-fives his partner, SISTAR’s Bora.
But the real surprise is for Kwang-soo: comedienne Lee Guk-joo, who tells him to be SUPER excited about this. He does, then runs to beat up Taek PD.
As it turns out, Guk-joo lost contact with her stylist this morning, so she wasn’t able to properly prepare for the upcoming water games today. “I’ll just wear my underwear then! I’m a pro!”
It’s a Summer Health Food Party today with three offerings on the menu. Each car, however, can only fit two couples, which means they must choose wisely. Gary worries that they might be switching teammates today, though Guk-joo doesn’t seem to mind—all the decent ones are married and the bachelors are more or less the same. Guk-joo (to Kwang-soo): “What does it matter if you’ve got abs? Your toes are rotting!”
The menu looks delish (grilled eel, Hanwoo beef, and samgyetang) and the couples rush towards their preferences. Upon hearing that Soyu wanted samgyetang, Jae-suk heads over to the other car to see if anyone would switch with them. Also because Jong-kook has hopped on the eel train, too. Thanks, but no thanks, they say.
Ji-hyo worries that only one team from each car will get to eat their chosen food, which honestly wouldn’t surprise me. In another car, Soyu says she became a trainee in high school, and when Jong-kook corrects Jae-suk that he didn’t make his debut in high school, Jae-suk follows up: “No, I meant in fighting.” Hahaha.
Guk-joo admits that she’s grown curious about Kwang-soo’s abs ever since he showed them off at a recent fan meeting. Bora leans in to ask to touch them, then pulls back to tell Haha how Kwang-soo just sucked in his gut.
Jaws drop at the sight of the scrumptious-lookin’ food and our ladies are affixed with armbands that make them queens from this point forward. The winning team can bring the losing team under their wing, but everyone must still follow the Queen’s orders. Additionally, the winning Queen can choose whomever she likes to join in on the feast.
At the eel restaurant, the game is simple: whoever flips the most cushion by the time limit wins. The memory of Jong-kook single-handedly overtaking this game is still fresh on Jae-suk’s mind, so he tells Soyu to win at all costs.
Both ladies show off their own group’s dance moves (although I love that Soyu momentarily forgets what it was), then right from the start Soyu flips the cushions to black and stacks them on top of one another. HA, that’s so smart and devious.
Needless to say the cushions fly all over the floor, but the round ends in a draw. Soyu worries about Jae-suk going up against Jong-kook, to which Jae-suk says, “That’s why I told you to win the first round.”
And then it’s like history repeats itself as Jong-kook hoists Jae-suk over his back so he can flip cushions uninterrupted.
At the Hanwoo beef station, they’ll be playing a Backward Long Jump. Kwang-soo is up first and jumps a full… half meter. Everyone else jumps short of one meter too, and then it’s Bora’s turn.
She jumps and hits the one meter mark, but then takes one step forward at the 0 cm mark to balance herself. Uh oh, does that count? Yep it does — zero it is.
Over at the samgyetang restaurant, our teams will have to roll a die to see what “gloves” they’ll use to rip off each other’s nametags. Both get impractical results — oven mitts and body scrubbers.
Gary’s speediness works to his advantage in the first round. Ji-hyo has ski gloves while Seolhyun still has the scrubber gloves, and even though both ladies are frail-looking, Ji-hyo doesn’t use too much force against Seolhyun. Gravity works in her favor too, and despite the simultaneous tear-off, Ji-hyo wins by a hair.
Back at the eel restaurant, Jong-kook charges for Jae-suk, who gets retaliation by pulling up Jong-kook’s pants. Meanwhile the girls are trying to steal each other’s cushions, and Jae-suk pulls up Jong-kook’s shirt to smack him on the back.
Thanks to Soyu’s efforts though, she and Jae-suk win the game and a pair of new teammates. Elsewhere, Bora makes her last jump count… and is Guk-joo going to charge into Kwang-soo?
She does and smacks Kwang-soo on the forehead. He falls backwards in silent pain. Still their collective distance is 291 cm, and Haha and Bora fly past that number with 320 cm. At the chicken station, Gary and Seolhyun overtake their opponents.
Queen Bora’s teammates wait on her hand and foot, in hopes to feast on the Hanwoo beef with her. Guk-joo knows all the ins and outs of how to enjoy a meal, which Bora appreciates while downing on the food.
Queen Soyu tells Jae-suk not to order Jong-kook around, giving him a tiny plate sampler to eat off of. But plenty of pumpkin too.
Guk-joo tries to appeal to Haha by telling him that she’s going to grow a mustache too (“I wanna be just like him!”). With a few pieces of meat on the line, she goes ahead to draw one in. And then Kwang-soo runs back outside with his face covered in charcoal.
Our teams gather together at the water park, where they’re met by a giant bowl. Here they’ll dance until the whistle blows which is when they’ll try to push everyone else out of the bowl. Whoever has the most teammates left in the bowl wins the round.
The team that comes in last place will be divvied up between the other two teams, which means Gary could be separated from Seolhyun. Gary: “You think physically separating us will separate our hearts, too?”
After determining order through rock-paper-scissors, Seolhyun’s team is up against Soyu’s in the first round. Everyone gets into a groove, then the real battle begins. Jae-suk is pulled from opposite ends before another dance break is inserted.
Suk-jin is the mob’s next target, but then Jong-kook hoists Gary up and over the bowl. Suk-jin follows soon afterward just before the round ends.
Jae-suk gets things started again by spraying the water bottle (and Kwang-soo sprays water from his mouth). It isn’t long before Guk-joo busts those trademark dance moves of hers, which turns into an impromptu dance battle against Jae-suk.
Once the round begins, everyone else charges Jae-suk while Guk-joo takes care of Jong-kook. Haha pulls on Jae-suk’s hair, only to receive the same treatment two seconds later. But when the music turns on again, Jae-suk gives him a big ol’ kiss on the cheek.
Soyu and Bomi lift up Bora together while Jong-kook tries his best to push Haha out. Just then, Bora pushes Haha’s leg off, only to catch on moments later. Jong-kook can do nothing with Guk-joo holding onto him, but then she discovers some fallen hair extensions. They belong to Bora, and Soyu’s team wins the first round.
Following a medley of the girl groups’ singles, Guk-joo grabs and dances with Jong-kook’s nametag over her heart. She rips and re-attaches it while going along with the beat. Jong-kook makes sure to stay far away from her in the second round, then grabs Haha to push him out…
… but then Haha swings his legs across to hold on from the edge for a few more seconds before falling off. So does Kwang-soo, and Queen Soyu’s team wins it. After choosing Ji-hyo, Queen Soyu lets the others choose the “other choice,” then practically breaks Gary’s heart by choosing him.
It’s finally time for today’s final mission where our two remaining teams will tackle on multiple games to try and win as many flags before the thirty-minute time limit is up. Keep in mind that just because one team has marked their flag doesn’t mean that the other can’t swoop in to claim it as their own.
There’s a Queen Card too, which will double the three-flag difficulty station for the first team that completes it on their first try. The teams tackle a two-flag station first where they must ride a waterslide and try to memorize three numbers.
The others run to another station where Jae-suk is ejected out of his seat. It looks like great fun and he tosses the ball to Soyu, who fails in catching it. Haha and Bora try (and fail at) jumping rope five times on a platform.
Back to the water slide, where they swear they only saw one of three alleged three numbers. They call out one number, then Guk-joo fills in the other two: “Eighteen!” (ship-pal, which is similar sounding to shi-bal aka fuck)
The Monday Couple have their eyes peeled, and Ji-hyo and Bomi spot all three numbers. While Suk-jin wears a straw suit to suck up water, Haha ejects from his seat and throws the ball.
Bora catches it in her basket, but the ball bounces out and into Soyu’s instead. Soyu catches the second and third balls from her team, snagging the flags before moving on.
Gary and Bomi make an impressive first outing with four jumps before tripping up. They get it on their third try (out of five) and place six flags at that station, thanks to the Queen card. So the current score is 10 flag to zero in favor of Queen Soyu’s team.
But it ain’t over till it’s over because Seolhyun and Haha make a good ball pitcher and catcher team. At the same time, Kwang-soo has Guk-joo on his shoulders, struggling to walk towards the floating tray.
Bora rushes over to switch out, and they succeed in stacking can on top of the tray easily. Kwang-soo helps Haha catch his third ball and switch up ownership at this station. Now it’s 8 to 3 with just twelve minutes on the clock.
Bomi scores the straw mission, only for Guk-joo to swoop in what feels like moments later. Then Kwang-soo, Bora, and Seolhyun take over the water slide station once more.
By the six-minute mark, Taek PD calls out that it’s a tied score at 6:6. Now’s the perfect time for Bora to use that Queen Card, and Suk-jin slips and falls into the pool. The rope gets caught on Bora’s leg the second time around, while Queen Soyu’s team are tackling two other stations.
With just 80 seconds until time runs out, Bora and Suk-jin climb back onto the platform. At the same time, Ji-hyo spots all three numbers on the slide and calls them out even before getting out of the pool.
Bomi’s tower falters and it’s time to check if those three numbers match up: the last two digits do… but the first doesn’t. Bora and Suk-jin get those five jumps, earning six flags. And with all the other reversals, the score is completely overturned with 12:0.
Wow, Bora is awarded a whole crate of golden eggs (that have a bit of gold on top of each) which she distributes among her teammates and fellow Queens. And to celebrate, she slides down a zipline for her royal exit.

Because if Suk Jin is paired with a girl, the girl will be frustrated like in episode 252 with Bestie's Haeryung, the girl was really sad because she can't have any chance to win in any game.

That is pretty much expected since Kwang Soo is amongst 3 popular choices for a guest to be partnered with.
Choice #1 Yoo Jae Suk - lots of screen time
Choice #2 Kim Jong Kook - higher chances to win in physical games
Choice #3 Lee Kwang Soo - lots of screen time

yeah pretty much everytime there young girl idols as guests she gets stuck with he of the bad knees, like RoRo said none of the girl wish to be linked to Suk Jin, not only becuase he famous as the weak link but he way to old and married to even hint at a romance, he always going to be 'uncle' never an oppa. At lest this week Ji hyo gets some guys to look at

In an interview, he (suk jin) said that he preferred to be paired with JiHyo. He doesn't like being paired up with the teenagers. (Not only that - this gives the guests a chance to "win".)

I was a bit appalled by Guk Joo's behavior.
Guk Joo is one of those people that you'll either love...or hate. (Similar to Jesse from UnPretty Rap Star)
I sincerely wish that Guk Joo can find a way to deal with the pressure of the industry.
I was bored by this episode and that's a shame, given all the star power they unleashed.
I've been watching Run Brother! (Chinese version of Running Man) It's much funnier, but maybe that's because it hasn't had over 250 episodes worth of time to get stale yet.
I honestly prefer 1N2D over Running Man lately. Even watching Kwanghee on Infinite Challenge is better than Running Man lately!
I say add Hyori and Hwang Jung Eum for a one episode special or bring back Song Joong Ki and Lizzy for an episode.

Now everyone watch the show online it's different than before, the dramas before were making 30% 40% too.
Running Man in good times making good ratings too, but 1n2d is good now, because is new people, if they are together five years like RM it will be boring too.
I remember Dad where are you going??? was the first in ratings after 2 years was cancelled. Today you're first and tomorrow you're last.

All variety shows are meant to entertain--not only RM/1n2d. If they're no longer entertaining, however long they've been together--5, 10, or even 20 years--change is needed. Casts are not the only reason a show failed. They have PDs, writers, staffs, etc. If the casts need to change, they change. If the PD needs to change, they change. Just because they've become friends for 5 years, doesn't mean they cannot be changed. It's simple.

Honestly I don't like her jabs against Kwangsoo. Sure, he's been caught off guard by the introduction of his partner, but he has never made any negative comments about Gukjoo's body, and he even complimented her charm! Gukjoo probably thought shaming Kwangsoo's toes were funny, but I thought that was totally uncalled for.
And don't get me wrong, I absolutely love her confidence about her body, it's just she's usually so tactless.

This sounds like more about you being a deep Kwangsoo fan rather than about Guk Joo's appalling behavior. Trust me, each cast member has gone through much worse and Kwangsoo has been on both ends of variety show jokes. Guk Joo is probably one of the few reasons this episode was entertaining. If everyone starts worrying about hurt feelings, they might as well shut down the show.

Running Man Season 2 with Jae Suk + Kwang Soo and 6 new members will be the best choice right now.
Kookie ----- Too injuried and now is like a ghost, gets less screentime every week.
Ji Hyo ------ Never talks, is like she don't want to be there anymore.
Gary -------- Lazy
Suk Jin -------- Too old for the games.
Haha -------- Was funny before getting married now its a shadow.

Pretty much agree at this point (especially about Haha :-/). The bigger problem with Kookie is that he's too strong for any physical game. They need to either drop him or add someone like Kim Soo Ro who can compete with him.

Except -
Ji-hyo was always quiet (she was even more quiet in the early eps).
Gary - lazy, but a man of hidden talents, is quick witted (good for many a good quip) and despite his supposed laziness (which is more of a gag than anything). he has won more big games w/ the big prize than most of the others.
Suk-jin - was always too old/weak at the physical games.
Kookie - didn't seem to have any trouble running away from Miho and he still manhandles everyone else that isn't a petite gal or someone his size.
Haha - he still has his moments (earlier, he would often go too overboard and would get annoying, like Kwang-soo also used to do).
People think the old eps were so much "better" - but there were plenty of duds early on as well.

Ji Hyo-It was fine for her to be quiet when we were all getting enamored by her "don't give a crap attitude" and her acting as the ace in the beginning. But when the latter two begin to fade, it gets more frustrating than anything with her not saying much or not being able to respond to obvious prompting.
Gary-He's my ultimate RM bias. Having said that, I'm all for listening to his music and him not being on RM. I know it sounds contradictory but he doesn't have much of a role in RM anyways. Yes, he's "randomly capable" but we have to wait too long too often for that random moment to appear.
Suk jin-I'm sorry. I actually like the man and I could still see him gone and not notice much of a difference. He's better at decreasing airtime than anything which is useless.
Jong Kook-This one is difficult for me. I'm not a Kookie biased fan but I do love him on the show and I love his antics. Nevertheless...I would be curious to see the show without him. The villain/hero balance would be shifted but that hasn't really been happening anyways with the lack of name-tag sooo...
Haha-I can be blunt here even though he's one of my top favorites. He needs to go. He has VERY little to contribute. The playboy thing is gone, the haroro thing is gone, and LKS is the icon of betrayal instead of him. No qualms about this.
The duds were at least spaced out before. Nowadays, the anomaly is a really good episode...

@Rembrandt...spot on!
In general ...variety shows run in cycles.
For a while certain genres, hosts, guests & PD's will be "hot" and then they will surely fizzle out. Some last longer than others though. I still love Running Man, but it needs something fresh.
Rather than being appalled by Gook Joo's behavior (a problematic choice of words on my part)...perhaps I was put off by how her "schtick" is getting old. Her larger appearance seemed to affect the way others reacted towards her. She acted "rough" and they seemed to treat her "rough" (or less like a female) in return.
I like Gook Joo in general, but I always feel slightly sorry for her. IMO people don't (or will not) regard her talents seriously because of her size.

Actually, Haha is still a really good supporting member. I remember always being surprised by his astute guessing - he and Kim Jong Kook always deduct the game's secret the best. He's not popular as Yoo Jae Suk or Kwang Soo, but does well enough when the games isn't scripted for a guest or something.

yeah. thats true. its make me sad.
Running man is first variety show that i watched, its true i'm not watch it from beginning but i already watch all 255 ep. i will watch next and next.
for me, Running Man is best VA i ever watched, thats true the ep seem boring lately, but thats not Running Man if they change the cast.
for me Running Man is JaeSuk, SukJin, HaHa, JongKook, Gary, JiHyo, KwangSoo+JoongKi.
For me if they want change the cast, its be better they end this and change all even the name.

well Jae Suk can still pretty much write his own ticket so if the show folds he can just go on to his next show, its telling he already started pathing way into programs outside of the big three control. Frankly if there a cast shake up I can not see him staying on, pretty much like family outing without him even a RM 2 would likley be a fail, as for Kwang Soo, RM made him a house name and face, but I am sure he feeling it time to get out of that image he used on RM and get into more acting, so I kind of doubt he would hang around either. The ones like Gary and SukJin need the show, the rest of the cast can make thier way without it if need be, even Haha now has at lest two other shows that I know of as will as RM. The reason they stay on with it, is the bond between them and well no one wants to be the first to leave and be seen as the 'betrayer' as I think if one of them goes the rest will soon follow suit.

It's hard for me to say that I agree with everything you say. I've been watching RM for so long, and it too is my first variety show...now I can't even finish any of the last two episodes. I can just hear it in the back of my mind...what would Suk Jin do without it, now? Gary still has rap, of course...and the rest still has other things going on for them. I dunno...everything does has its time, though. You're #1 before, and then well...

Why would Gary need the show?
Leessang is huge and besides being a producer, he is one of the more in-deman lyricists, being credited on more than 150 songs and is one of the top royalties earners in the Korean music industry.
Plus, Gary is good w/ the funny quips that he would be in demand for another variety show.
When Gary had his "troubles" (which was really nothing) and contemplating on leaving RM (at least temporarily), the others convinced Gary to stay on saying that they wouldn't film if he wasn't there.
Basically, any change to the cast (that isn't of their own doing) would likely mean the rest leaving RM as well.

Other than everyone else comments I did enjoy this episode though. This is a fun episode. Blue team and yellow team in second mission totally in sync and had a great team work.
Guk joo, Bora, Bomi and Soyou were really active and so into the game also more entertaining to watch, but I don't know about Seolhyun. She seems really akward and passive in second mission. She didn't even speak a single word. And what make it worse was that she's in orange team. No wonder she had less screen time compared to the other guests (Gary was the only one who looked present in that team).
Overall this episode better than last week episode. A lot of great interaction and funny moment, and unexpected twist at the end. I also loved all the guest in this episode (well except Seolhyun), loved Guk Joo especially, she should become a guest more often.

Haven't watch this episode yet, just preview the beginning and I am appalled at Gary's reaction when he discovered that Seolhyun is his partner. C'mon the reaction is just too childish for his age! And Suk Jin should be taken off the show. He just can't compete anymore and Ji Hyo or Kwang Soo has to be paired with him to be the losers. How can Ji Hyo shine or talk but just play along...

Ji Hyo is always quiet, ever since the beginning... Nowadays her screen times usually are for shots of her smiling and laughing (you can replace her with a cut board, and it will be the same), and Kwang Soo still got plenty of screen time when partnered with Ji Suk Jin. Why blame Ji Suk Jin if Ji Hyo couldn't get decent screen time on her own?
In this episode, Ji Suk Jin successfully did the straw drinking game (1 flag) and couple rope jumping game (6 flags). Ji Hyo only manage to complete spot the numbers game for 2 flags.

I want Jihyo to shine too, but you need to stop putting all the blame on the other members. There are moments when the members give her the attention and throw her cues but she chooses to remain silent even when the camera is on her.
Even though Ji Suk Jin is the weakest, he still makes his own jokes and fight for screen time when possible, like in ep 249 when he challenges KJK for an all-kill or his interference in the basketball match against Big Bang.

Even though Seol Hyun got the least screen time compared to the rest of the guests, she still got more screen time compared to Song Ji Hyo.

Ji Hyo only played the spot the numbers game (twice).

I think that runningman needs a total cast overhaul. The main cast doesn't even seem competitive anymore and it just seem to be another idol weekly variety show.
Sad to say but everyone has lost their original flair, sad to say but I liked em up to season 3, then everything just dropped.
China's Run Brother is actually much better than whatever people say it being competitive and not guest friendly. You have Wang Cho Lam, the guy with the headscarf, beating Chen He who is much taller and has much more physical strength than him. Although it may change when time comes.
Ji suk jin doesn't even try. He seem to be a paperweight. The PD doesn't even turn him into a smart character that uses opportunities instead of just strength.
Run brother also had a change of cast which made things fresh with the partnership and stuff. Watching the same thing just gets stale unless you are talking about MuDo. RunningMan needs to stop relying on whoever is in the trends to boost its ratings, it just won't bring it to the spotlight.
I thought the change of Head PD would have changed things. Nope, just doing the same old format from season 4 onwards.
I second rembrandt comment, a cast change would be nice.
Too bad there is no show that would replace runningman because runningman is unique.

I am a huge huge Running Man fan, but despite my desire for the show to never end, I feel like a change is going to come sooner rather than later. Not every episode piques my interest like before, but I still gladly tune in every week because I love this show too much not to.
Moving on from the overall direction of the show and onto this week's episode - I have no animosity towards SNSD and actually quite enjoyed a few members in last week's episode, but this week really had idols that shined. They were funny and able to make jokes and be entertaining. I am on the Guk Joo is hilarious team, but she does push the envelope a bit more than other guests. I feel bad for her when her weight is so outright scrutinized, even as a joke, and while I understand it culturally (being Korean myself), it's hard to justify as an American.
Other than that, I had fun watching this episode. Looks like next week is another idol-laden watch, which makes sense since it is summer and almost all groups are promoting their summer songs, but if BEAST isn't appearing in the next few weeks for their album then I want an episode with just the RM cast!

I love me some BEAST too. Never paid attention to beast until yoseob had a small part in ep 199, soccer game. I'll be happy camper if beast shows up.

I think this episode and the past few episodes are good. It's just that the rival show is sooo good (1N2D S3) right now that some said that RM is done or boring, which is not. Maybe a little change will help, new games maybe?

While not as funny as last week's SNSD ep or some of the more recent eps w/ a large group of female guests, was still fairly entertained.
Seolhyun is becoming the "hot thing" - only a few other female guests have gotten a bigger reaction.
Guk-joo was pretty funny w/ the way she popped open those bottle-caps w/ quite the flair.
Even when Suk-jin tries to give his teammate a tip, his side ends up losing (due to bumbling on his part).
W/ his long legs, KS should have done better on the backwards long jump, but horrible form (also, Bora is pretty much the best female idol athlete).
Bad strategy/timing on Team Bomi's part - need to go for the big flag games/use the Queen card towards the end to prevent reversal.

I have similar thoughts to "bd5", especially about Gary. I disagree with the "lazy" label. I can't imagine the show continuing if even one of the current cast left.
Once RM founds its best formula, it was fresh & new. Naturally, our expectations become higher & we're quick to note when the once loved formula goes a bit stale. I think some of the newer games & challenges have been good, but the last mission or game is a letdown.
All of the cast have gained so many positive things from RM, including development of new & deeping existing familial relationships that will last long after RM ends. Those friendships & natural conversations that are captured are my favorite things about RM.

Despite the decline in ratings, I don't see RM ending anytime soon. If I'm not mistaken, RM remains one of the biggest earners for SBS. Until SBS can have a show that has so much earning potential and high ratings, RM is probably going to stay around. As for a cast shakeup, I really don't think that Kwang Soo and Jae Suk are going to choose to stay around if the rest of the cast are dropped. It just doesn't seem like the thing someone would do after spending 5 years together. Kwang Soo maybe -- I can see him as a Jongmin kind of character considering how they both play a babo but not Jae Suk, since he already has a nice list of shows attached to his name. He's also not one to completely backstab his co-workers and friends. That's just not his character.
I think the criticism of the members is really, really unfair. Some of us (myself personally) prefer seeing the members interacting versus constant name tag elimination, which gets boring relatively quickly. Big Nose remains one of my favorite members (I do have a tendency to have favorites for underdogs like sukjin and defconn) because despite being considered the weakest link and the one that guests don't want to partner with, he's always happy to be there each and every time. He also brings about some pretty witty jokes sometimes. From some guest interaction, it's obvious that he's not really all that weak but needs to fulfill a role. That's why I have such respect for him and Kwang Soo - they have this identity and sometimes that identity can really hurt. All of the members have worked tirelessly for the program for 5 years now. If someone is truly lazy, they wouldn't be out there every week doing some of the insane stuff RM has them doing. It's not fair to just kick them out because of the ratings, it's the program itself. I do think it might be time to change the program and ultimately the members (ALL but one for continuity's sake) though.

I enjoy this show more BECAUSE I have watched RM from Ep 1.
"Ji Suk Jin out" = Game Start!.
Kim Jong Kook - "This...is...Sparta!"
Song JiHyo= Ace Mong Ji (&can sleep anywhere)
Lee Kwang Soo = Giraffe (Betray, betray)
HaHa= Kid Pororro
Gary=Peaceful Gary
Yoo Jae Suk = Grasshopper Yoomes Bond
etc, etc...I "get" and enjoy the running gags they have developed for all of the characters by themselves or in different pairs or teams.
Since it's a (mostly) scripted variety show, poor game concepts, guests or editing are even more disappointing. When RM is good, it's very good, but when it's bad it's terrible.
RE: RM China (Run Brother!)
It has it's own character development.
The China cast seems so much more competitive than RM Korea cast that it changes the tone of the show a bit.

It's true that SBS has nothing to replace Running Man at the moment. Once they think of something, that's when things might get dangerous. Even before that, if the ratings fall perilously low there might be major changes. You're right about the KS and YJS not staying (although, yes, I think KS might stay judging by his personality). As for Suk Jin, I have to be honest. It's the biggest thing he has right now. He has no other choice but to be happy and cheerful because otherwise he's a goner. It's much easier and freer being the underdog than it is for example being like KJK and acting as the villain and YJS whose primary role is to lead the show or even the Monday Couple who are bound by the on screen relationship. Finally, I just have to say that I completely agree with your last sentence. :)

sometimes i really want to say to RM PDs, please be fair. Jihyo always paired up with RM member, mostly with sukjin when the guest all ladies. or with gery when its theme is about couple which its totally unfair since gery mostly paired with different ladies while jihyos option is usually sukjin or gery. i know its because its hard to find a lady strong enough to paired with sukjin, but if that happens all the time, its just unfair..

This episode was pretty much a waste.
Song Ji Hyo unnie Kim Jong Kook oppa Haha oppa Suk Jin oppa didn't get much screen time at all. They are part of RUNNING MAN team!
They need to be acknowledged too! Yoo Jae Suk oppa and Lee Kwang Soo oppa were awesome as always!
Running Man needs to cut down on having too much guests. It's very unfair to Ji Hyo unnie. She always gets paired up with Suk Jin oppa or Gary oppa.
Not being rude saying that they are weak or anything but she deserves her own time to shine! Both oppas included too!
As for guest Lee Guk-joo, I feel that almost all the oppas made her feel like the oddball. Only Kwang Soo oppa was nice to her. There no reason to treat her differently just because she isn't size 2.
I really wish Running Man will bring back fun stuff like collecting the piggy bank for money or playing hide and seek or find the guest games.
Not trying to force unnie and oppa but it would be lovely to see some MONDAY COUPLE moments now and then without them looking so gloomy.
Ji Hyo unnie fighting!
Love Running Man!

I actually had so much fun watching this episode. It reminds me a lot of the earlier episodes of RM. Personally I think everybody had fun, although Jihyo didn't say much but she didn't look bored. Hope the crew and cast could get the momentum going!

Can't they just pair jihyo and sukjin with male guests? It's better and fair for everyone. Jihyo can have fun with guests instead of sukjin every week and sukjin can have better chance at winning games. There's no wrong for male and male to be game partnérs...

Thanks for the recap!
It's been a while since I've watched some Running Man.
I always enjoy the dance time/breaks. Yoo Jae Suk throws himself completely into dance mode which encourages guests to also go crazy. Lee Guk-joo has moves!
Most funny moment for me was when Gary made the sad face after being separated from Seolhyun.
The last part of the episode, where it came down to the last game, I thought the blue team would win when JiHyo stated her answer. The Ace can't win all the time.

Dunno, but this episode feels like it should've been given to SNSD. It fits more for them. Theirs was a bit too rough for girls. But then I guess it's because I'm biased to SNSD. I like the episode & the guests, though.

Honestly reading the comments about how most people think that Rm should change and how it's getting boring is kind of pointless.
No offence, but the cast who has been there for years is what made the show what it is. People like it for that reason otherwise why would it be one of the few shows that has lasted for more than 4 years? RM has been going on for almost 6 years now.
If you have a problem with the and want them to change or you find it boring and predictable and you want it to change then I suggest that you might as well go to another variety show and watch that instead.
RM will never be the same without the cast that they've had for years

all you people seem to bitch about in the ocmments is the same damn thing episode after episode. Show isn't fun anymore....cast needs to change...who would stay...pd sucks...
bla bla bla
Don't you get tired of repeating the same comment every week regardless of how the episode is? Give it a rest already!
Regarding this weeks episode. I liked it. The end game was competitive and exciting, while the previous games gave way for some fun interactions. Loved the intro as well.
