Red-eyed and book-hunting Scholar Who Walks the Night

Lucky for those of us awaiting the show, Scholar Who Walks the Night seems to be on a promo kick, churning out stills in quick succession; the production’s in full swing as it revs up for its premiere next week. I feel like we’ve seen a lot of Lee Jun-ki and Lee Yubi separately, so I’m glad to see them in a scene together this round. Finally!
This scene takes place in a bookshop and features our vampire scholar hero Lee Jun-ki with Lee Yubi, who’s so well-versed in books that there’s nothing she can’t find. That’s what leads him to her, and he asks for her help in locating a particular title; under her direction, they end up at the bookshop to find it. It’s not specified which book this is, but the drama’s producers did reveal that before becoming a vampire, our hero was close friends with the prince played by Lee Hyun-woo, and now he’s on the hunt to track down his old buddy’s personal diary.
I’m quite used to seeing Lee Jun-ki in hanbok at this point (he always looks beautiful, but the characters do kind of all start looking the same), so I like the added touch of the red eyes. Somehow he even makes them look attractive, I don’t even know how.
We also have a few shots of Kim So-eun, playing two characters in the drama; these stills below feature her as the first character, Lee Jun-ki’s fiancée. I’m not sure what happens to her (I’m guessing it’s not something good), but she’ll then play a different woman who happens to look exactly the same, who’s described as inscrutable and proud. Is… she also a vampire? (If so, that wouldn’t explain why she has a different name, though maybe that’s part of the master plan. But I suspect we’ll have to wonder for a while, since her character’s all about the mystery.)
Scholar Who Walks the Night premieres on July 8, following Warm and Cozy on MBC.

Have there been any updates on Lee Yubi's back injury after the accident on set? Lee June Ki had the nose surgery, but wasn't Lee Yubi supposed to take a couple of weeks off to recover (but her agency said she'd be back in a few days with meds)?

Her company only gave her a few days. Looks like she's recovering well. I still think it's harsh to allow her to return already but unfortunately in K entertainment, the celebrities well-being is not top priority--$$$ is... sad truth!

LJK return to set on June 18! Lee Yu Bi is also feeling better. She is just return to the set on June 25 after 2 weeks rest period. Glad that her agency listen to the doctor advice giving her time to recover.

I have a thing for guys wearing hanbok and Lee Jun Ki is one of them ...those red eyes sure looks creepy but somehow it looks so pretty hahah
Anyways, this is one of the dramas I'm looking forward to watch. so, I'm hopin it'll be watchable at least ...

Teacher is so adorkable goofing around with the gestures and all. And those red eyes are fabulous. I bet it is going to be a trend.
but I must admit, in these stills, Lee Yu Bi looks a lot more like a GIRL rather than someone who would surely pass as a boy. Maybe it is the lighting, maybe they have too much make-up on...

Jun-ki and Yubi both look like their manwha character. Yang-Sun doesn't look like a man in the manwha. She is more girly looking than Yubi even with the disguise.
I hope that her character is not going to be like Jun-ki's past leading ladies. They started off smart but turn out to be rather stupid by the middle and end of the show.

So true, and that's what makes me really nervous - she seemed kind of dorky and oblivious, exactly the type that would grate on all our nerves in a drama. Lee Yubi is young enough to pull off looking cute, but I really hope her character isn't reduced to some platitude-spouting, perpetually smiling Joseon Candy, because she deserves better. And can do better!

however, the way the character in manga is obsessed with books, that is so me. I even introduced the word "bookgasm"... meaning going totally gaga, howling and wiggling in a book store.

That's true, the side-by-side comparison of manhwa frames to character stills has me amazed at just how alike the actors look to their manhwa characters.
And I'm with you on hoping her character isn't stupid - though the heroine of JG didn't even start off seeming that smart, despite a purported interest in scientific objects. I hope they don't sacrifice Yang-sun's intelligence to the need to look cute or damsel-in-distress-ish.

Which Junki's heroine who is not smart ? Aside than Arang, I think all the girls are quite smart. Iljimae : 2 girls, one educated and the other is not so-clever but street-smart. Time between Dogs and Wolves : she figured out about Junki's identity by herself, after becoming suspicious then asking peope around. Two weeks : the girl is smart and brave. Joseon Gunman : she is intelligent, the brainy type. I think Arang perhaps is the least smart of all, but she's a badass.
Anyway, finally I'm excited over a new drama. I like Junki's black hanbok. It looked suited for him as a vampire, giving some kind of a 'dark' and 'old' vibe.

I really, REALLY hope this drama doesn't suck.
Not least because I'm a fan of Lee Yubi and want her first drama as leading lady to do well - I rooted for her to score a lead for ages, but I never thought it would be opposite a star as huge as oppa! And now I'm nervous for both their sakes (and hope to god she really did get to recover properly from her injury..).

I'm really look for Kim Soeun double role. I'm kind worry because their no much update for her characters (lol are they hiding her ??). we only sure about that the first one will die. the second role has one side love for Changmin + love & hate with joonki ( you can chick the characters relationship chart). anyway I hope her roles have a good impact for the storyline.
